Glad to see this in action! Got mine ordered and I’m picking it up at NAHBE! Can’t wait!!
I think you will really like it!
That's great looking forward to getting one. 😊 Thanks 4 sharing.
Thanks for watching. Great product. You will not be disappointed.
Thanks for the demo! I pick up the new compact unit at NAHBE.
Awesome. You will not be disappointed!
That is awsome! Thanks for showing something else I want! Have the original, no troubles with it or the mites! Rob there got me fixed up really quickly when did . Did some of mine today with it.
Yes. It is a great unit. Last Saturday I used them both at the same time. Talk about fast!
I pulled the trigger and will pick up at the expo.I was looking forward to this video after you mentioned it on stream team chat.I know cost is a factor on this but a local bee club or a couple of beek friends could buy one and share it .
Thanks for posting Bruce!
Hey that’s great! You will not be disappointed!
Just bought the compact yesterday, thanks Bruce. I have the first older vaporizer and it’s still going strong.
Good deal. You will be happy with it and amazed at how fast and efficient it is.
Very cool just waiting on my compact in New Zealand , great video sir
Thanks. Great product!
Great video. I'm just a small backyard guy, but I still love my Lorobbees plug-in unit. I only have to go less than 50 feet away from my power source. Thanks for showing the latest and greatest unit.
Absolutely. The original unit works great. I still have mine. Worked well for me but these battery powered ones are great for remote treatments.
@@brucesbees If I ever build the long hives for my daughter in WV, I might need one.
@jimmysneighborhoodbees it is something to think about but the original one with a cord works great and is perfect if you are not dealing with a lot of colonies. I have some older videos of me using mine with an inverter. You could hook the inverter up to your car battery and it would work well.
@@brucesbees I do have one of those "Battery type Home Generators" That may work too. I will test that out. Thanks.
Definitely worth a try.
Got one. Excited to use😊
Very cool. You will not be disappointed.
I ordered one and will be picking it up at the conference. Looking forward to it!
Very cool. You will be glad you did!
good to how fast the start up is....thanks for your time
Yes it is a quick machine. It does take little while and some power to get it heated up. But once it is ready to go it is super fast.
First, Cool Bruce. I'm picking up the old version at NAHBE this year. I thought about the new version but didn't know much about it. It really throws out a stream of vapor. I don't think either unit is a waste. Real time saving and avoids all the cords and invertor/generator stuff. See you next month.
Yes they are both great. Comparable units.
Awesome thumbnail. I'm downloading the video to watch after Shabbat. Can't wait to see it.
It is a pretty cool device. Thanks for checking in and I hope you enjoy the video!
Thank you for sharing
I started out with the wand and it was seriously painful. Then moved to the 120v and it was a game changer for me and my bees, but now that I see the compact version I'm feeling the pain again. I will need to invest in something better eventually b/c the easier the treatment the more consistent we become with our treatments, which means healthier bees.
It is definitely pricy and available when you can justify it. It’s so fast and easy and honestly a need for me. But for some it would be a luxury. Now that I have both of these units it is lightning fast! ⚡️🐝😎
Works great, we have two and treated 800 hives quickly and then did it again. 🎉
That is awesome. Game changer for sure!
ive got the original lorabbees vaporizer and i love it. i never had one of the wand types, i figured i might as well jump right in and get a better vaporizer that will last and is easier to use than having a battery, or plugging into the back of my car with an extension cord.
Yes Rob at lorobbees has always sold a quality product.
Great Stuff. Rob has a great niche in the beekeeping market.
He sure does. Great products and excellent customer service
Thanks Bruce, RTR ! See ya soon
Yes. RTR and Merry Christmas! Looking forward to NAHBE and meeting/hanging out with so many awesome people!
The Nesquik containers are great. I use them in my yard too. Store my burr comb in them.
That’s a great idea. Works great for the OA.
Pretty sweet like you can wash the wires and id keep them clean.. I've seen units copper wires turn into glass just crumble.. not that unit but local units guy sells .. going to be 50 degrees Sunday I'll hit last 90 units be ready for winter
Great point. The original unit has wires that are well protected as far as I can tell and and the compact seems to be well constructed as well but will keep an eye on them.
I've got the first version of the instavap and love it but that new model looks like it would be better for different hive types because of how it kind of drops down in the front and gives more room for the battery. I ever find myself at Bruce's house. I'll remember not to ask for Choccy milk 😆
Yeah that is one of the improvements made. Both machines are great though.
With how small many components are now days. Less data and less control is a detractor for me.
I'd be an all most instant sale on new compact design if it still had similar adjustable controls and an info screen like the full sized models. Have a great New Year Bruce.
The less complicated the better for me but if you like to have more control then the original would be better for you I guess. There really is not much difference in functionality. I think the reason it is “compact” is that there are less controls, screens, etc. The compact actually works a little better with differ type entrances etc. But speed efficiency and effectiveness are basically identical.
I am extremely happy with both units and now that I have 2 it is amazingly fast!
@@brucesbees Oh I understand why they took the direction they did.
I like to purchase the compact one. Can you help me with this? I am located in N Tx. Let me know please.

Hey Bruce. We are treating with OA once a week for 4 weeks. Do you also treat again before the honey flow with things like Formic Pro, or is the OA good enough going into spring/summer? Thanks!
I may do that. I hope to do some checks and then decide. Things happen so fast this time of year. Will see how things look. I will be splitting them soon and then honey season will be here before we know it!
That thing looks awesome. I'll get one for my wife eventually, the big one has always intimidated her lol
It is great and I’m sure she would love it!
How do the two units differ in price. Does it come with the battery?
I like the compact size much easier for women to use thanks for sharing
It works great!
Hi Bruce. Good video demo. Would love to get one of these units but the price to get one here to Brisbane Australia is way out of reach for me. Now the mites are here in Australia I will need to get some way of treating these pests.
David. Kurabees.
Yes I’m sure it is very discouraging for you guys. Hang in there. I’m sure treatment help is on the way and maybe there will be an Instantvap distributor there in Australia soon. Hang in there!
I have a 120 unit I use with solar generator and extension cord. I would love one of these but a little to rich for my blood at this time. My question is do you ever have to clean or clear out tube. Sometime I still have crystals in the end of my tube. Thanks. Wish I could go to expo in January. Be sure and video as much as you can and post
These units need cleaning every so often. Basically just pour water in the chamber when fairly hot and let it clean. May need to clean two or three times until the water is fairly clean. With the old units it would get clogged at times. I would put water in the chamber and let it boil with the blue cap secured until the temperature begins to increase past boiling. Occasionally would have to clear with a time from an uncapping fork. Or some other sort of spike.
Nice video Bruce. I have an original lorobees vaporizer and it takes about 60 seconds per colony. Plus the cords and inverter and my truck. If that original ever stops working I will definitely be in the market for one of these new battery units. I have all makita power tools, do you know if they are compatible?
They have different ports for the sodden t types of batteries. You choose that option when ordering. I believe Makita if one of the options but if you decide to order you can confirm at that time.
Very good review Bruce.
I purchased the Instavap for Dewalt batteries this spring, so stepping up to the new unit is not practical. However, I am interested in the RZ mask. Looked into the M3, but it is not recommended for gas vapors like OAV. Which unit are you using that is good for OAV?
Keep up the wonderful videos.
I use this filter. rzmask.com/collections/filters/products/filter-f3-pack3. Carbon filtration good for organic fumes. I think it used to say organic acid vapors in the decryption. Every once in awhile will catch a whiff but overall seems to work for me. I am not recommending folks use it but I like it. The 3M mask did not fit my egg headed face well and was so uncomfortable.
Thanks, I have a 3M Respirator that's heavy on the face, doesn't fit well so I get lots of vapor gases (choke..choke), and fogs glasses because of poor fit.@@brucesbees
@@reddivrbob exactly the same problem I have. Will catch an occasional whiff with the RZ but so much better comfort wise.
I’m in Australia and just got Varroa do you only treat with OA?
I use multiple tools. OAV, Apivar, Formic Pro and have also used Apiguard(Thymol)
I have the original and it works great and fast. Like wise the new compact is a great setup too. They look to be about the same speed. The difference I would say is on the original you look at the temp readout to know when the treatment is complete and the compact has the flashing light. They both will get you through your yard in high gear.
Absolutely. Very similar function. I used them both at the same time the next day and hit a lot of colonies done fast!!
@@brucesbees What's really good about them is it makes it so easy to treat for mites. I just finished a treating all mine today because it warmed up above 45° F. I give them 3 rounds one week apart this time of year when they are broodless. It really cleans them up for spring. In your case you might need to do more rounds because you probably have brood but the Instantvap makes it easy and fast. Thanks for sharing, Bruce!
@woodlandharvesthoneycompanyllc yes you are right. Great comment. Thanks!
Bruce, What is your OA annual treatment schedule? We met at the Shelby Co. association meeting. Thanks!
I try to do 4 treatments 6-7 days apart this time of year. I think it’s best if little to no brood. I use Apivar in the summer as a treatment of choice after honey supers removed. If temps are ok I have started using Formic per instructions. I feel confident using OAV about any time of year though. Just have to be willing to do multiple treatments and use enough to get the job done. I use 2 to 4 grams per box though that is more than the “legal” limit.
Thanks for the feedback Bruce! We did our first treatment today. I'll put several more on the schedule over the next 4 weeks.@@brucesbees
I recently purchased the Instant - wish i'd held out for the mini though. Same effect for a chunk less money.
Not sure what the mini is. But for me I love my Instantvaps. Both of them.
@@brucesbees It's what your new one is called in Europe 🙂
Ordered myself one of the new style
Great! You will not be disappointed.
Those things are an absolute no-brainer for someone with this number of hives. It's a very very tough pill to swallow for the small guys though. But man it would be nice!
#truth.
Did you adjust the temperature, Mine was pre-set at 445°
I just roll with the settings it came with.
Curious on if this is done after honey harvest and the frequency of treatment
It is best done when broodless. The OAV does not penetrate capped brood where mite reproduce. People treat at a different frequency. I typically like to treat at least one e a week for 4 to 5 weeks.
When I splurged on the ProVap 110 a few years ago, I thought it was a great tool. But now I wish I had waited a bit. Not needing to string a mile of extension cord from my truck to treat 12 hives is tempting! But that is spendy
Yeah it is pricy and in your case would be a luxury. The batteries are not cheap either. With 12 colonies I imagine you could be in and out of the beeyard start to finish in 20 minutes including warm up time. In my case I think it is worth every penny for sure. And now that I have two units…you can only imagine how fast it is!⚡️🐝😎
Cool, The one thing I like about the original is the ability to turn the temp down a few degrees. Still vaporizes fast but a little cooler vapor which allows me to do more hives on fewer batteries.
Makes sense. Thanks for the info. I just run with the factory settings. Not sure I am smart enough to even figure out how to adjust to the proper lower temperature to accomplish the same thing for less battery usage. But it makes sense.
@@brucesbeesChanging the temp is easy, just push the up and down buttons :) the unit locks down all the other functions of the controller so the only thing you can do is raise or lower the temperature a few degrees. I found this out because I wanted to try and program it more and I contacted the maker and they informed me it was not possible to do anything else (they did that so people would not mess it up).
@ToBeeOrNotToBeHoney good deal…
Hi. This does not work like that. When you go down with the temp, it takes much longer to vaporize, and as the tool has a stand by use of power, because it has a heat loss, it will end up using more capacity when you lower the temp. I tested it myself. At 392 degrees F it takes to vaporize 2g 1:10. At 410 degrees F it takes 45 sec, at 445 degrees it takes 25 sec. Can you see the huge difference how long it takes?
I have never messed with the settings.
I sure would like to get me a cordless. Would change the game I think.
Great demo Bruce!! Really nice unit!! Still haven’t got the first battery unit yet😬. New roof and blown power stroke engine in the truck shut that down. It hopefully for next season.
I hear ya Mike. It’s an investment by man it speeds things up! I used them both at the same time the next day. Talk about fast!!!
Awesome little unit, that's for sure. I'll have to check them out at NAHBE. .
Yes. A powerhouse unit. They both are!
Bruce can you please share where you got your mask?
rzmask.com/collections/filters?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAhJWsBhAaEiwAmrNyq2ZZuzyGfVsYN-uwjNIiqG7tuA7Lo0_1uJGvPXYAUb4Sxv9anG84FxoCb0oQAvD_BwE
Be sure to get the right filter. I know most use the 3M masks but these work for me. Be sure to do your research before ordering. I use the F3 filters.
where to buy the vaporizer and at what price?
lorobbees.com/products/copy-of-nahbe-pre-order-instantvap-18v-compact-pickup-only?sca_ref=925819.Rw5v3swsBM
How often do they need cleaning.? Get clogged or residue bulid up after x uses!
What's that number?
rob @ lorabee youtube has videos showing howcto clean w water/steam,i sometines keep a nail handy for any minor clog, but its never clogged much, i have insta vap, and johnos which has a smaller tube, but works the same
It varies. I usually clean them between yards. Have treated probably 30 or 40 colonies before cleaning. I don’t know if there is a set number and I done really keep track.
@sonofthunder. Great comment. Thanks Mark.
i get about 10-12 colonies @4g with insta vap and 5ah dewalt, before i drop to 15v
I typically get about 20 with the 6aH at 4g. Can do more if using less OA.
This is a good apparatous, but don.t you think that part of oxalic sublimated go outside, loosing its action?
Yes some does but I don’t think it’s enough to diminish the effectiveness of the treatment.
@@brucesbeesThanks! I had a doubt about that point. Have a Merry Christmas & Very Good '24!!
You too. The best way to avoid the problem if it is a concern is to block off the entrance. That will keep the OAV in the hive longer. I use shop towels sometimes.
Sure speeds up yard time.
Sure does. And I had them both going the next day. Talk about fast!!!
$445 plus a battery holy begebers ! I brazed a copper contraption for my neighbor to treat his bees. He loaded the amount if chemical he wanted and heated it with a torch. He only has 15 or 20 hives but he still has $445.
Yep it’s not for everybody but I have learned once you get to a certain point it is worth spending some money to become more efficient. Time = Money. I am pleased with the machine and can get my bees treated quickly. And now that ai have two it goes very fast! The batteries are actually the crazy part if you ask me. Like you said. “Holy Begebers!”
@@brucesbees I don't care for anything that runs on a battery. When the battery dies its just as cheap to buy a new tool. I decided to buy a Honda Generator and use the tools I already have and like. I carry that generator under the bed cover in my truck but I can set it in the Gator to work on the farm, in the boat to run the flood lights, or into the breaker panel to run the house. It's small for home use but it will run a fridge or freezer. You won't use a large generator that isn't mobile but I do use this 2200.
@turdferguson5300 Nice! Sounds like you have a set up that works well for you, which is really all that matters.
The compact comes with deep discharge protection electronics! The device turns off at 15,4V, and when connecting discharged battery, it does not turn on below 17,2V. Seems like your distributor doesnt want you to know...........
Thanks for the clarification. I just failed to mention that. It is one of the selling points. The original Instantvap I ordered does not have that feature. I bought it before it became standard. But now it is standard on all units. It’s actually a nice feature that protects the batteries.
There is an information sheet when when you first open the box that says "This unit has battery protection, the unit will turn off below 15V and will not turn on for a battery that is depleted below 17V.
Good info. Thanks man!
How much
lorobbees.com/products/copy-of-nahbe-pre-order-instantvap-18v-compact-pickup-only?sca_ref=925819.Rw5v3swsBM
Wanna sell the old one to me
No lol. Now I am using them both and moving through the treatments double time.
