    Happened to me back in January. I called edd and they manually added the peuc extension for 13 weeks. I certified 9 weeks of retroactive pay. I would recommend calling the edd and asking for them to add the extension manually. Do not wait!!

      @@UIVlogs2021 They are still unclear if PEUC claims that hit claim year end this month need to re-apply or just wait. I called EDD today and they told me I NEED to reapply after telling me I don't need to on Tuesday. They filed a new claim for me today and I think that was a mistake, now what? The news today is that I could have just done nothing and waited until April 30th and they'd automatically extend my PEUC claim, even though I hit the end of my claim year. I trusted the advice of the EDD call center operator and he filed new claim today. Does EDD take responsibility for mistakes made as a result of claimants listening to and acting upon the advice and directions of their call center employees? They made this happen so They should fix it.

      @UIVlogs2021  3 года назад

      @@BillyAylesworth did you reach your benefit year end already? If so, then yes they were correct in filing a new claim. Now PEUC claims will be updated thru April 30th it is going to start happening starting with the people who reached a $ 0 balance first. Filing a new claim will do 1 of 2 things confirm to keep you on your existing PEUC Claim or move you to a new regular UI claim. If the new claim is going to pay you more then $25 less then your PEUC claim you stay on the PEUC Claim. PEUC Claim balances have to be updated I believe they will be 2 weeks after you hit a $0 balance when it is time to recertify within your benefit year just like the last extension. If EDD keeps you on your current PEUC claim, expect to receive any remaining balance then you should see the updated balance taking you to Sept 4th.

      @@BillyAylesworth it is interesting the EDD worker filed a new claim before 3/29. Because you still had Week ending 3/20 and 3/27 to go in your current benefit year. Now I know you hit a $0 balance prior, but now the EDD is programming this new extension into account balances. So would should have happened is your account would have stayed at $0 for 2 weeks until it would be time to certify again then you would see that new account balance. But for you shortly thereafter you would receive a notice from EDD that your benefit year has ended and it was time to reapply. Let me ask you this when would you normally have certified again? is it 3/28? second question when you login to UI online do you still see your existing claim with a $0 balance? I know this is so confusing for a lot of people it really comes from this news about filing a new claim after a year that was a total shock to most. Sadly many more don't even know still about this.

    I was able to speak to a rep this afternoon. I’m on peuc tier 2, balance $0 and claim ends 3-27. Instead of opening a new claim, rep put in a request to extend my claim so that weeks will be available to certify by this Friday. She advised to wait until 3/27 hit before calling in to file new claim. You can also file a claim online but will go through IDMe process which takes longer. I’m definitely calling on Monday to open claim with rep👍

    My peuc ends this Sunday when I certify. My benefits year ends on Monday, April 5, 2021. Since it's a week gap between the end of peuc and my benefits year, I was thinking about reapplying for UI again on March 29 since I see the page which gives me the option to reapply or manage my claim. If I dont reapply early plus it takes 3 weeks for EDD to decide I'm not eligible for regular UI and puts me back to peuc, it's at least 4 weeks with no benefits payment.

      Nancy, EDD is currently updating those benefit balances. At this point in your particular case you need to wait till 3/28. If it is like the last extension your benefit balance should be updated when you go in and certify again with at least enough to cover those last 2 weeks of benefits. If the system is working correctly which is the big question at or around your benefit year end (April 3) you should see an option to refile for a new claim, and as a PEUC claimant which you will need to do in order to keep receiving benefits. I know this is confusing. People were just recently told about this benefit year end issue just recently.

      Yes, based on what the EDD is currently saying if your on claims other then PUA and have hit your benefit year you will need to reapply. However there is mixed messages with those in regards Fed-Ed.

      Hi Mary, your claim balance will always reach 0 before the benefit year as a Regular UI claim only pays 26 weeks. When does your balance reach 0? If it is before September 4th then you will be placed on a PEUC extension till then. If you reach 0 after sept 4th there will no longer be PEUC or Fed-ED extensions available for you as those programs will have expired.

      Hello, I just saw this comment as this was an old video. You only receive a maximum of 26 weeks worth of unemployment benefits during a 52 week benefit year. There are no extensions available. You also cannot reapply until current claim expires ( assuming you are eligible again). So you will always run out of benefits before your benefit year ends. Unlike the pandemic there are no longer extensions available that would continue on.
