EDD needs to update people who are on PEUC DIRECTLY when their payments are suddenly skipped as to when they can expect to be paid, not just say on their phone menu that they will automatically be re-enrolled. That is so cavalier. I already got an extension payment in late March, but the payment I was expecting for early April didn’t come through. No warning. This is tantamount to misconduct. Gross negligence.
The million dollar question is how do you know if you need to reapply or not? If you are receiving the extra $300 but your benefit has run out will it automatically renew or do you need to resubmit?

Once upon a time, EDD with its sufficient funding and directive from, my guess, Democratic Administrations, EDD did most of the "admin" tasks for the claimant. CA did have at least three or four governors that were Republican. Reagan, Wilson, Deukmejian, and Schwarzenegger. And CA does have Republican legislators. CA is a blue state, but there are many red areas in CA. Kevin McCarthy the House Minority Leader is a Republican from California. So is Devin Nunes another Californian in the US House of Representatives. Fresno, CA is mostly Republican. Kevin McCarthy represents Fresno among other areas.
Things are worst. They hired 5,000 employees who answer the phone but cant help you and transfer you to another line who then hang up on you and say sorry we are close at this time.
The only thing she did not say (which is the most important): "How to file a new claim after an year receiving unemployment? what is the base year of income if you did not work at all ?"
You just put zero 0 if you have no income when filling out the claim form or put $# if you earned any. If you had no earnings all 12 months zero - 0 in all fields. I got caught up because I had some work end 2019 to March 2020 and some in 2021 and put the $# in the field using my pay date and not the pay period dates off my pay stubs. 🤦🤷
Amen. Been trying to interpret their notices and lack of communication for weeks. We couldn't figure out whether or not to reapply because the notices are so contradictory. Insane.

Anyone residing in their respective state, must check with that state's version of EDD. It likely going to be online, to be on the phone, and/or to be in person. Every state's EDD has their own set of rules. All very similar but not exact.
It sucks; however, due to cuts on EDD services, my guess from the Republican Administrations way back when, a lot of "admin" tasks are required or needed from claimants to facilitate their UI benefits. Claimants are encouraged to use the UI Online portal often. Yes, often. Claimants must check their UI Online Inbox for notices. The UI Online have had a makeover and the portal will alert the claimant that it's time to file. If the claimant has enough wages for regular UI, then that claimant must file a claim. If the claimant does not have enough wages and was on PUA, then the claimant will continue on PUA extension until September 4, 2021. The expiration date set by the American Rescue Act that extended benefits from the CARE Act.
I'm sorry your going through this hardship! It is not easy for many residents these days. Just know that God loves you very much and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Joshua 1:9). When you live for Him, regardless of what is going on around you, He will provide that peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7). But we forget this at times, that God gives us good gifts, He blesses those who are His own and even keeps those who are not. God is merciful and He is kind to all of His creation but it would be great if we can be kind towards one another. I'll be praying for you Johnny! I been waiting for 10 weeks I exhausted my benefits January 10 and to be available to get someone on the phone I have to choose option 2 if I doing a new claim and they tell me all the time that the labor hasn’t released funds they don’t know when they are going to I have a 20 year old son he leave with me and he’s sad because he is worried we loose the roof 2 months this is unbelievable
On PÚA, finalized the yr of benefits, extension was granted 4/9. Have certified for 5weeks now but steel showing pending and no payment maid. Bills are piling up and there’s no explanation acceptable for creditors.

I called the tier 2 representative and she said , I don’t need to apply for a new benefit year. I am on PEUC, the 11 week extension and my benefit year is over. Now why is the EDD giving us this Conflicting information? Do we file or not? It’s not a coincidence that many of the representatives are saying not to file a new year. Yet on the website it says to file a new year, so it’s very contradictory.

It says I’ve used all my benefits for this claim but with the new bill it should be extended that’s what unemployment told me last time. @@Sophia-uw2og I almost did the same because I worked for UBER and was updated to UI from PUA last year because before Prop 22 we were seen as employees. Someone told me NOT to apply for PUA in my case because my parent claim is UI and not PUA. I think it's safe to wait it out a little. You don't want to accidentally delay yourself.

@@kimmy2049 good thing I called a claims specialist and he filed a new year for me on the phone. He said I didn’t have enough wages so he just put my back on extension. Looks like filing on the phone is better than doing it online which takes up to 3 weeks to hear back from the Edd.
So reapply for a new benefit year and wait a month and suffer in the wait? I think not, I’ll do Uber eats and door dash in the meantime while I wait for the extension to take place. I just know EDD is going to take forever !

@@cococordova7403 Yeah, I live here in New York, and there was an online bulletin saying that it would switch over on 3/24/21 or 3/25/21, and would continue paying the PUA with the $300 Federal boost (Not sure if things will work out the same in the other 49 states).
I have 8 weeks worth of payments pending. Its a nightmare trying to reach someone to find out whats taking so long. There's nothing in my account suggesting it shouldn't be coming. I received a notice that my extension was granted. Either way its criminal how they are treating people.
My edd appears “on extension” on benefit year. And this week is benefit amount left only one week. It says certify by 4/17/21. I can claim now but is it a good idea to claim now?
I sure hope this lady is correct about saying if when we reapply and the benefit amount decreases by more than $25 we will just get extensions on the current amount! 🙏🏽 I’m working part time due to distance learning and cannot afford to work less than now and collect a smaller benefit amount than I am receiving now 😭

My original was 3/15/20 cause my kids school closed, I'm still working for same company but had to reduce my hours. @@hottamalek9872 You have to state the original starting date of your claim,they will ask you if you did work and how much money earned after the expiration of your benefit year.That will be the basis if you are eligible for a new regular claim and how much.It might be well below your last weekly pay if approved but will still have the $300 boost added,even if you’re working as part time right now.
@@hottamalek9872 it asks for last employer and the past 18 months of employment. I just called and filed a new claim with a rep on the phone. It's always best to talk to someone. He said my new claim was ineligible, so he put in a request for an extension. I think it's the PEUX? 11 weeks.
I haven't gotten paid since April and it tells me I've exhausted my claim and need to reapply, then tells me they're updating and no need to reapply for extention. Then tells me I'll be notified when I need to certify. I spent 2 days trying to get through and finally sent a random email praying someone will then call me. ID me is supposed to keep u in they're system and not have to do it again. DMV uses this same service however and it is a failed service and if 2 people use the same chrome account will often override one account for the other. As in my case.

I highly recommend using the UI Online to send messages via email. Yes, it will take longer to respond (7 days), but there will be a written trail to follow. If it has been months, like 3 months or more, I highly recommend contacting your local representative like the CA Assemblyman or Assemblywoman or State Senator to help. Not US Senator, State Senator. Contact via their website and send an email. Google who is your local representative.

Do you know what that even means and what to do now on my ui account its been letting me certify so know I have 12 weeks certified now pending? Pandemic unemployment. The governors position does not have a legal foundation to end the assistance. Governors can not collectively vote to end federal assistance. The population in each state did not petition the governor to end pandemic assistance. The assistance was provided based upon need. The other position they have relied upon is the number of available workers to fill open jobs. The number they used did not include the entire population of adults over the age of 16. It was only those on pandemic assistance which is discriminatory and bias. Even if the statute states you can opt out of the program it has to be within reason and include the proof that the conditions that warranted the assistance has been eliminated.
Since claimyr is only discounted for first edd call. It won’t let you save $5 off once it’s used. I have a claimyr $5 off. Let me know if you need to speak with edd reps.
Today I received weekly form, and only have funds for 1 week, second week is marked off, im on peuc and benefit year ends in August, so instead certifying in 2 weeks gotta certify this Sunday, when does extension starts or what do I gotta do now, getting worried
If you’re on a PEUC extension (You have exhausted your regular UI, but your year isn’t up) they will re-enroll you automatically, but you won’t be able to certify until 4/29 and will be paid your accumulated weeks after that date. No warning. You’re just supposed to know.

NC. I've been waiting since August-September of last year. It's somehow locked up in appeals. Check everything every day. All I get is basically just keep checking.
I reapplied and my benefits lowered by 450 per week. I am barely getting anything per week. Not only that, they took so long to let me know that I needed to refile that most of my work history passed the 18 months they go back. By telling me so late, I missed out on a month I made over 10,000 in being accounted for, which would have helped my new benefit year out tremendously. What this lady is saying and what EDD is doing are not the same, it's a lie.

you will need to reapply if the benefit years ends. auto extensions will be given within the benefit year. they need to check if you have any wages from last year (if you got you job back part or full time).
Why happens to Claimants who are not able to continue to file weekly or biweekly because the system won’t let them while they are still fighting their claim? How are they going to get paid for back weeks once their claim is resolved and if it’s resolved in their favor?

They will show up as paid pretty quick but will take awhile for it to hit your account bc Bank of America has to figure out how they plan on stealing it from you. It just depends on your bank. Mine goes on that piece of garbage Edd debit card with absolutely no security whatsoever, so I file at midnight sat night going onto sun morning and Bank of America posts it late’ish Sunday night between 10pm and after midnight. Hope this helps, don’t stress you’ll be good.
For Connecticut: 3/20 I filed like everyone else in the world due to covid. Exhausted benefits and advised to apply for extended benefits via correspondence. I did. I received payment 3 more months. After that I was sent a letter to reapply. I did. The letter said keep submitting claim. 4 weeks later still nothing. Just pending status. I contact an agent who said it was on hold and transferred me to a tier 2 agent. Who said we have been getting a lot of calls. He said I was approved for a second round of unemployment insurance but had to release the hold. He said he did, and to keep filing as I definitely was approved and would be paid retro. Just three days later I received a letter saying I was ineligible. Anyone else have this issue? What did you do?

File a new claim. If you do it online and go through ID me you will mostly likely have to do the video call so if you can't verify your ID then continue with the video call and have those documents. I tried 3 days I was on waiting over 9 hrs each day ( was sleeping through some when they called at 3:40 a.m.PST and I missed that call scrambling around in the dark, just as I answered they hung up). Set your devise to no screen time out and refresh the page if the countdown timer is not showing a time or hasn't moved. It may take many hours but just keep your documents and device near you and do chores etc. It will ring when they are connecting you. If you do it one your phn I suggest not taking calls as I answered my phn and had to sign back in losing my spot.
Hi. Unfortunately those that work there are under staffed and overworked so more people quit than are willing to be put through the nightmare they go through. They simply don't pay their employees enough for them to show up and put up with the stress

Call edd early in the morning at 8:01am. Not 8:00, they're not open yet smh. 8:02 is better. I know, because I've been calling them almost DAILY because they keep lying to me! You call anytime after that and you're stuck waiting FOREVER! I call and choose option 2 for employers. You get thru almost immediately if you call at 8:01-8:02. Good luck!
I had the same problem in step #3. So what I did to make it work was submitted my claim all on my computer. For step 3 they texted me the video selfie link. Once I did that I was able to move forward on my regular computer browser. You get stuck if you are trying to do it all on your phone
These extensions are continuing my claim from Feb 2020 and prevent me from applying for my (now applicable) sole proprietor job losses from 2020. This is a complete disaster and EDD is going to owe so many people.

You will get a notification in your claim box where the certify for benefits message is. I just got mine and my benefits ended March 15. Then you have to file a new claim. The message walks you through it. Just have all your information ready to go. Makes it easier. Your Driver’s license your work information including address and phone number.
I was getting the max $450 before any boost from the stimulus- I reapplied because my 12months was up March 23rd 2020 (I did the ID verification etc..) then I got an updated amount of $301 as base pay when it should be $450- but I never got paid anything and have got paid since March. Idk what to do and their not accepting any phone calls.

I have been waiting for my new benefits information for over a month. No amount of emails, phone calls, or letter writing helps me get through to anyone to what is going on. It is extremely stressful and becoming a financial hardship on me and my family. I need help.
You have to keep calling. I know that is not the answer you want to hear, but its the only way to get things started. I have been calling for about 2 months on hold for over 100 hours total, hung up on 30 times and finally one day I got through. Got help and now started back receiving benefits. To keep my stress level down, I started dedicating only 2 days(Tuesday and Thursday)to try and get through. Then I would relax the other days. It helped relieve a lot of stress instead of calling everyday.

If you're on PUA assistance then you don't need to re-apply, but if you're on regular UI benefits also PEUC extension then yes you need to re-apply

They ask about jobs you had in the last 18 months. You put that amount in. If the amount you earned is 0 then you won't be getting anything.

I called the tier 2 representative and she said , I don’t need to apply for a new benefit year. I am on PEUC, the 11 week extension and my benefit year is over. Now why is the EDD giving us this Conflicting information? Do we file or not? It’s not a coincidence that many of the representatives are saying not to file a new year. Yet on the website it says to file a new year, so it’s very contradictory.

@@Sophia-uw2og I almost did the same because I worked for UBER and was updated to UI from PUA last year because before Prop 22 we were seen as employees. Someone told me NOT to apply for PUA in my case because my parent claim is UI and not PUA. I think it's safe to wait it out a little. You don't want to accidentally delay yourself.

@@cococordova7403 Yeah, I live here in New York, and there was an online bulletin saying that it would switch over on 3/24/21 or 3/25/21, and would continue paying the PUA with the $300 Federal boost (Not sure if things will work out the same in the other 49 states).

I have 8 weeks worth of payments pending. Its a nightmare trying to reach someone to find out whats taking so long. There's nothing in my account suggesting it shouldn't be coming. I received a notice that my extension was granted. Either way its criminal how they are treating people.

@@hottamalek9872 You have to state the original starting date of your claim,they will ask you if you did work and how much money earned after the expiration of your benefit year.That will be the basis if you are eligible for a new regular claim and how much.It might be well below your last weekly pay if approved but will still have the $300 boost added,even if you’re working as part time right now.

What if your new claim is EXACTLY 25.00 dollars less than your PEUC claim. Will they keep you on the extension or put you in the new claim?
I haven't gotten paid since April and it tells me I've exhausted my claim and need to reapply, then tells me they're updating and no need to reapply for extention. Then tells me I'll be notified when I need to certify. I spent 2 days trying to get through and finally sent a random email praying someone will then call me. ID me is supposed to keep u in they're system and not have to do it again. DMV uses this same service however and it is a failed service and if 2 people use the same chrome account will often override one account for the other. As in my case.

I highly recommend using the UI Online to send messages via email. Yes, it will take longer to respond (7 days), but there will be a written trail to follow. If it has been months, like 3 months or more, I highly recommend contacting your local representative like the CA Assemblyman or Assemblywoman or State Senator to help. Not US Senator, State Senator. Contact via their website and send an email. Google who is your local representative.

When you log in there should be two choices, file a new claim or manage/register a claim. Click on file a new claim and complete the application.

Pandemic unemployment. The governors position does not have a legal foundation to end the assistance. Governors can not collectively vote to end federal assistance. The population in each state did not petition the governor to end pandemic assistance. The assistance was provided based upon need. The other position they have relied upon is the number of available workers to fill open jobs. The number they used did not include the entire population of adults over the age of 16. It was only those on pandemic assistance which is discriminatory and bias. Even if the statute states you can opt out of the program it has to be within reason and include the proof that the conditions that warranted the assistance has been eliminated.

If you’re on a PEUC extension (You have exhausted your regular UI, but your year isn’t up) they will re-enroll you automatically, but you won’t be able to certify until 4/29 and will be paid your accumulated weeks after that date. No warning. You’re just supposed to know.

NC. I've been waiting since August-September of last year. It's somehow locked up in appeals. Check everything every day. All I get is basically just keep checking.
I reapplied and my benefits lowered by 450 per week. I am barely getting anything per week. Not only that, they took so long to let me know that I needed to refile that most of my work history passed the 18 months they go back. By telling me so late, I missed out on a month I made over 10,000 in being accounted for, which would have helped my new benefit year out tremendously. What this lady is saying and what EDD is doing are not the same, it's a lie.

There is a third tier extension that will be added to your account but they have not finished adding the extension yet.

you will need to reapply if the benefit years ends. auto extensions will be given within the benefit year. they need to check if you have any wages from last year (if you got you job back part or full time).

Why happens to Claimants who are not able to continue to file weekly or biweekly because the system won’t let them while they are still fighting their claim? How are they going to get paid for back weeks once their claim is resolved and if it’s resolved in their favor?

That's a new one for me. You definitely should call them.
They will show up as paid pretty quick but will take awhile for it to hit your account bc Bank of America has to figure out how they plan on stealing it from you. It just depends on your bank. Mine goes on that piece of garbage Edd debit card with absolutely no security whatsoever, so I file at midnight sat night going onto sun morning and Bank of America posts it late’ish Sunday night between 10pm and after midnight. Hope this helps, don’t stress you’ll be good.

For Connecticut: 3/20 I filed like everyone else in the world due to covid. Exhausted benefits and advised to apply for extended benefits via correspondence. I did. I received payment 3 more months. After that I was sent a letter to reapply. I did. The letter said keep submitting claim. 4 weeks later still nothing. Just pending status. I contact an agent who said it was on hold and transferred me to a tier 2 agent. Who said we have been getting a lot of calls. He said I was approved for a second round of unemployment insurance but had to release the hold. He said he did, and to keep filing as I definitely was approved and would be paid retro. Just three days later I received a letter saying I was ineligible. Anyone else have this issue? What did you do?

File a new claim. If you do it online and go through ID me you will mostly likely have to do the video call so if you can't verify your ID then continue with the video call and have those documents. I tried 3 days I was on waiting over 9 hrs each day ( was sleeping through some when they called at 3:40 a.m.PST and I missed that call scrambling around in the dark, just as I answered they hung up). Set your devise to no screen time out and refresh the page if the countdown timer is not showing a time or hasn't moved. It may take many hours but just keep your documents and device near you and do chores etc. It will ring when they are connecting you. If you do it one your phn I suggest not taking calls as I answered my phn and had to sign back in losing my spot.

Call edd early in the morning at 8:01am. Not 8:00, they're not open yet smh. 8:02 is better. I know, because I've been calling them almost DAILY because they keep lying to me! You call anytime after that and you're stuck waiting FOREVER! I call and choose option 2 for employers. You get thru almost immediately if you call at 8:01-8:02. Good luck!
I had the same problem in step #3. So what I did to make it work was submitted my claim all on my computer. For step 3 they texted me the video selfie link. Once I did that I was able to move forward on my regular computer browser. You get stuck if you are trying to do it all on your phone
These extensions are continuing my claim from Feb 2020 and prevent me from applying for my (now applicable) sole proprietor job losses from 2020. This is a complete disaster and EDD is going to owe so many people.

You will get a notification in your claim box where the certify for benefits message is. I just got mine and my benefits ended March 15. Then you have to file a new claim. The message walks you through it. Just have all your information ready to go. Makes it easier. Your Driver’s license your work information including address and phone number.

You have to keep calling. I know that is not the answer you want to hear, but its the only way to get things started. I have been calling for about 2 months on hold for over 100 hours total, hung up on 30 times and finally one day I got through. Got help and now started back receiving benefits. To keep my stress level down, I started dedicating only 2 days(Tuesday and Thursday)to try and get through. Then I would relax the other days. It helped relieve a lot of stress instead of calling everyday.
After seeing a comment on RUclips that *coldtechs* on Instagram help somebody so I decided to gave him a try guys he Is soo legit I wish I met him long time ago before today he sort out my pending payment in just 10minutes
