exact, i now listened to both with my ears and soundstage, imaging and layering are much better with mega5est, i guess it must be the EST drivers, one thing i think is letting down mega5est is bass quantity that is a bit too low, it sounds a bit thin or lacks body in the mids compared to hype4. now hype4 has a bit too much bass for my taste so i guess my ideal bass quantity is in the middle. but technically there is no contest, mega5est is a clear winner
@DrinkWater713 More towards "reality", as in the correct reproduction of sound. Very subjective in itself. But think hi-res photo/film versus strip/cartoon. Preference thing for sure. Another analogy might be the way the sound is coloured, like you would wearing sunglasses, or using specific lichting. Or a combination of of both.

Giving goosbumps, chills and sometimes a bit of a scare; throwing you off as if things are really happening in the space around you. Music is magic.
The Hype4 only wins in the bass department; It’s faster and punches harder. Other than that, Mega5est is better. As someone had said, he can pick up the lack of Est in Hype4 easily. Est is the magic ingredient; It can do wonders. Sounds that come out of it are more refined, smooth, detailed and well separated. Cymbals and hi hats sound more pleasant & natural. There’s no denying Est is king when comes to detail rendering. People do cry when listening to the Sennheiser flagship headphone He1😅. I hope Est can come down in price and make its way into more budget iems in future.
@ Just my opinion, I think Est is a better choice. The sweetness, 3 dimensionality and softness are unique. Planar sounds stiff and flat. They can add a lot of planars, just like adding multiple BAs, but it still won’t replace the characteristic of EST.
Hype4 much better in Bass & Treble and vocals are very forward. 5EST lil better in Sound stage and vocals and every lil further away from you. Both are class 👌👌
hype4 sounds tighter, faster but mega5est has more depth and space more rounded edges. hype4 is a bit like putting your ear close to a speaker getting a direct clear sound and mega5est being further away with the room echo rounding everything sounding softer and less harsh, is this difference coming from mega5est EST rendering less harsh trebble than hype4 e50 BA or from the isobaric 2xDD of hype2 sounding faster than the slower single DD of mega5est ?
not exactly veiled but less clear and fresh than hype4, mega5est is blurrier but in a nice relaxing way, hype4 is more like german studio monitor and mega5est like good vintage british speakers ;)
@@amanieux Even todays Neumann monitors sound more like Mega5EST. The bright sound of German studio monitors with sizzling hard dome tweeters is thing of the past.

I liked the Hisenior better... it has fuller mids and more pleasant highs.
Mega5est has significantly larger soundstage. Actually gives some speaker-like qualities.

I prefer the Hype4. Even without the ESTs, there's more character in its tuning

@JRVick Oh, I see. I call that neutral. The downside is that it can be a bit boring, so people usually add a bass boost to that tuning.

What about the microplanars that they are using now instead of the ESTs, to keep the price down? You like the idea?
