Awesome reaction. BAND-MAID is a great band and they've grown a lot since this music video. What I like about them is that they incorporate different music genres, from Hard Rock, to Pop, Metal, Funk, Blues or Punk, so their songs are really diverse, they can go from hard tunes, to more softer, sometimes they are very energetic, another times they sound more emotional, etc.
Also they borrow elements from bands from rock history, so they can remind you a lot of things (Metallica, Pantera, Van Halen, SIAM SHADE, Foo Fighters, Oasis, Led Zeppelin), without sounding like them, they have their own distinctive style.
Their live performances are really good. They not only play awesomely their instruments, they also know how to put a show, with lot of energy, lot of jams and the ladies are always smiling and having a blast on stage.
As for the bass, MISA is really great and the band always give her a spot to shine, so the bass is a really important aspect in BAND-MAID music.
    I'll give you some suggestions:
-DICE (a very hard rocking catchy song)
    ruclips.net/video/ZpAYnVJX9CY/видео.html
-Domination - Live (another hard rocking catchy song and it shows their energy on stage)
    ruclips.net/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/видео.html
-Rinne (this one is more on their metal side)
    ruclips.net/video/CQ9dbEVgZcA/видео.html
-Blooming (very upbeat with a punkish feeling)
    ruclips.net/video/uUt_JBMocKM/видео.html
-Wonderland - Live (a very jazzy feel with a groovy funky bassline, I think this show their diversity)
    ruclips.net/video/x4hxLeHbqZo/видео.html
-ONSET - Live (a very cool guitar driven instrumental)
    ruclips.net/video/mVrN-j_Uc0U/видео.html
There're more, but I don't want to overwhelm you with too much links.
Hope you can react to one of those songs! Cheers!!!

Welcome aboard, Josh. You are embarking on (along with many others) an awesome hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid:

BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Consistency (nearly 100 songs with new album, “Conqueror”), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destine for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off the rails spectacular.
Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 50 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: ruclips.net/video/Uds7g3M-4lQ/видео.html Their later songs drive even more - Rin’ne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Glory, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on. But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE and Smile... or more punky like Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series! And many are represented with over 25 well produced music videos. ruclips.net/user/BANDMAID
Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE concerts such as Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA on February 14th (“Domination” ruclips.net/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/видео.html), ZEPP 2018, Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 and some of the better 2019 tour Fan vids. Here’s three of what it’s like to see Band-Maid LIVE at super intimate venues. The first taken by Vladimir Chupin in Hamburg: ruclips.net/video/__1th7ctgMo/видео.html, the second taken by JT Dayo in LA: ruclips.net/video/4uIYBkAybCI/видео.html, and third, JOSER8845 in LA: ruclips.net/video/usWZvlGGDSs/видео.html. If you like Band-Maid, make sure to support them by purchasing some concert tickets, CD, DVD/BD & Merch, etc. bandmaid.tokyo
Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid. For fun, check out an awesome, little known "Mega Band-Maid Mix" by DJ Ray of some of their earlier stuff: facebook.com/djrayboston/videos/1004709499579009
Band-Maid members are: (Ages are best est.).
Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements, melodies and High Priestess mediator between the Gods (Band Members) and the masters and princesses (Fans). At 26 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Leader) as Miku calls her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away the persona. Her charisma, performance and voice focus the experience.
Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 28 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kurrupo! No, no, no… KURRUPO!!
Kanami Tono (Ka-Naw-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 28 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more!
Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 29 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumRilla” is the Party!
MISA (Me-Sa) "Assassin" - Bass, 27 years old. A sullen, barefoot, dark spirit driving her 5-string bottom-end to hell and back, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. The Mysterious One literally kills it… every note.. uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA!

Bassist is MISA and she’s moved on from her Fender Jazz Bass to her custom 5 string Black Cloud and her new custom 5 string SG. Both are thunderous when they rumble! My friend, do yourself some good and check out EVERYTHING they’ve posted onto their channel from Line Cube Shibuya Feb. 14, 2020. Fu&king sublime, beautiful Hard Rock.💪🏻🤘🏻
Edit: If I had to pick 2 from those Shibuya performances, it’d be Domination and Wonderland. Domination has a sick breakdown in the middle, complete with various live soloing! Wonderland is a triumph of adventurous composition and arrangement, both instrumentally and vocally.

MISA is the bassist, AKA barefoot assassin. I will give a shortlist, so you can pick a couple of songs.
    Domination (live) solos all around.
    Dice (mv) bass, guitar solo.
Onset (live) instrumental everybody gets a solo.
Wonderland (live) little softer song with a little bass, and guitar solo, and it feels almost like bass leads.
Freedom (live) great bass all through the song with a great drum solo.
Order (mv) a little bass solo with some bass-slapping.

    Song Title : Thrill
    Mini Album : New Beginning
Single : Ai to Jonetsu Matador
    Breaking New Gate
I raise the volume within my earphones
So that the dull noises will be erased
Those guys are waiting for the chance to trip and fall
Hey you, I shall let you hear this
    This world is always faulty
I’ll be out of control if I just stand still
Even if these rampaging feelings of mine gets abused
I don’t care, just step forward
I’ve gotta be on my way (HEY!!)
On this symmetric flat road, I can’t find any interest in it
    Just breakin’ new gate (HEY!!)
Regret means escaping from the hand of evil’s conspiracy
With the thrills, the greatest pleasure of all, I live on
I always see the scenery I don’t want to see
Imprisoned in a room of four walls
A dove creates an arc on such a small sky
Who are you, as I look above
The struggle seems to be real and steady
Even I self-affix myself, I’ll still go out of control
If I can’t be saved by tears
    Just enjoy and savor it!
I’ve gotta be on my way (HEY!!)
I should be changing, these unanswered fears into madness
    Just breaking new gate (HEY!!)
Tear up and throw away the erased blank pages
To what lies beyond my resolve, along with thrills, I devote my body
    This world is always faulty
I’ll be out of control if I just stand still
Even if these rampaging feelings of mine gets abused
I don’t care, just step forward
I’ve gotta be on my way (HEY!!)
On this symmetric flat road, I can’t find any interest in it
    Just breakin’ new gate (HEY!!)

When Band-Maid started out the music was very much controlled by their record label, which is the era of this song, as they said they knew what the Asian market wanted. Then the label let them put out 1 song that the band wanted to do. After the song was a big hit around the world, the label said, OK do what you want, and Band-Maid have never looked back.
The Idea for the maid costumes was from the rhythm guitarist, who worked in Maid café's and liked the look and also liked rock music so wanted to put a band together, so it's not as most people what most newcomers the band think, it was a man's idea to create appeal. Miku, rhythm guitarist, went on the internet and found a solo guitarist she liked and asked her if she was interested in the idea, who was Kanami and up for the idea. Kanami was she had worked with a drummer that maybe interested, so they asked Akane, who then put forward a bassist she went to music school with Misa, and Band-Maid was born. They played life once, with Miku as singer, and the band came to the conclusion that it wasn't really the sound they were looking for. So they found a singer they realy liked and asked her, Saiki, but they didn't tell her about the maid costumes before she agreed, due to the chance that she would have said no. So having a singer left Muki without a role, so she picked up a guitar for the 1st time and did rhythm guitar, that why in a lot of the early videos she does not seem to be up with the skill level of the others, but you can see how much she has improved over the years in the later videos.
My choices for the next 2 songs "DOMINATION (Feb. 14th, 2020)" & "Onset" both live, as Band-Maid are far better live.

For more bass, try "Dice" MV, or "Play" (Live). Both start with funky pickin' or slappin.' Live stuff is great. A new live concert BluRay came out, so many top live videos (including the best Play recording) disappeared from RUclips. You can find other live shows, tho. And see the Shibuya Play version in other reactor vids, if curious. Basist Misa trained @ Tokyo School of Music. She gets many spotlights, has nice technical riffs, and even guitar duels. Keep diving.

Good review but know this, they have a good variety of styles embedded not just hard rock. Is not just the base player is all of them in their own way. In order to see their evolution try these MVs
    DICE
    ALONE
    REAL EXISTENCE
    RINNE
    BLOOMING
    Live performances
    DOMINATION
    CHOOSE ME
    ONSET (great instrumental)
    FREEDOM
    Among many more.
Some other live presentation were taken down. But you will be hooked.

DICE has a great bass line and the song itself is probably the best summary of the band's overall sound and skill - ruclips.net/video/ZpAYnVJX9CY/видео.html
BLOOMING is arguably their best song - ruclips.net/video/uUt_JBMocKM/видео.html
To truly appreciate their skill go to their channel and hit up their live stuff. Domination and Freedom are good songs that turn into great songs thanks to their energy and talent. Onset is an instrumental that every musician should listen to carefully and take notes as it's an instruction manual on greatness.

Subscribed to watch you gasp in awe at their live performances. As a Bass player, you'll enjoy Misa's heavyAF Bass on 'Moratorium' live ( ruclips.net/video/HiArXRC6aCY/видео.html ) and also on the 'Dice' music video ( ruclips.net/video/ZpAYnVJX9CY/видео.html ). In 'Thrill', which is 5 years old now, she was using a 4 string Bass but has since moved on to a 5 string in search of lower notes. She, like Akane the drummer and Kanami, the lead guitarist, all trained as classical pianists but easily mastered their new choice of instruments, as you can clearly see. I saw Zeppelin live in 1979 and these are about as close as I've seen a band get to that level of songwriting (all music written by Kanami, the lead guitarist, while the lyrics are usually by Miku, the rhythm guitarist and founder of the band), stage presence (they shine brightest live) and, of course, playing abilities. They're also a lot cuter. They just released a live DVD and have released 4 songs from it. Number 1 choice of these, for me at least, has to be 'Domination', which gives them all a chance to shine during an epic performance recorded in Feb this year: ruclips.net/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/видео.html

They toured the US last year, all 5 venues sold-out. New York, Dallas and LA. They worked with Tony Visconti, producer (T Rex, David Bowie) on "The Dragon Cries" last year. My 2 "Puzzle" live and "Dice" because they show their growth.
They did not write "Thrill", but pretty much everything else you will heard is written by them.

Well you haven't seen anything yet. Thrill is the song that captured the initial attention but their live performances are something else. For a combination of music and lighting you can't go pass Onset live in April 2018. Their concert in Shibuya in February this year was a masterpiece. Most recommend Domination and Freedom but there's so many more. Don't tell me for instance.Real existence, Dice. Misa on bass is one of the world's great musicians. Probably most fans favourite. Outstanding solos and her interplay and duelling with Kanami on lead guitar is awe inspiring. Akane on drums is super fast and like the rest of the band, her timing is spot on. Drum solo on Freedom. Miku is the leader having founded the band and concept, finding Kanami and Saiki the lead vocalist online. Kanami knew Akane who was studying at a music Academy with Misa. Female musicianship has exploded in the last decade and Japan is one of the leaders in the world. Major upcoming prodigies also that the world will discover in the next decade. Lisa X and Yoyoka. The Maids though are the real deal. 5 brilliant highly talented ladies who love performing live. You really need to see more of their material to appreciate just how good they are.

They also all seem to through some pop element into their songs at some point, which I gather is something expected in Japan as well.
