    The upper part of the ventilation shaft looks like it’s installed upside down. The grill is covered by the bottom part but should be exposed instead.

      @@troffmeister68 He instaled it correctly, the ventilation grill only have to be exposed if you set it up as a recirculation vent. You have to buy additiona parts like charcole filter additional ducting for a recirculation set up.

      @@kipu01 nope i just installed a new neff one in my kitchen yesterday , replaced a faulty 8 yrs old model , new unit cost 299 comes complete , and you have to install it with grill at top , as the chimney is a sliding part depending on height of ceiling , the grill is never hidden , in fact the grill area has screws to attach to a wall bracket at ceiling height
      so grill is exposed at the top near ceiling

      Hood can be set up for internal circulation, this needs the vents at the top in order to allow filtered air back into the room. When using the extractor to vent to the outside through the wall the vents aren’t needed and can therefore be out of sight by placing them at the bottom. Screw holes are at top and bottom of inner so that it can be mounted either way up
