I think you meant point number I instead of H. Also, the point "i(1)" states that the lowest of the light shall be placed not less than 4 mtrs above the hull. (this refers to the last light and not the towing light). In case of the Towing light, the criteria for 4 mtrs shall be exempted.
one mistake in criteria of lights in a vertical line, towing light is not more than 4m. it is the lowest light shall not be less than 4m above the hull. if a towing light is carried then the 4m criteria are exempted.
First of all, Thanks for Your Efforts. Secondly, Kindly confirm in VERTICAL POSITIONING AND SPACING OF LIGHTS Point No. D, Here I think it is talking about All-Round Light prescribed in Rule 23 D (i) not the 23 C (i).
Yes you are absolutely correct. There is a misprint in my book. Sorry about it. Thanks for bringing this Correction to my notice. I'll add it in the description. Regards Nihal Gupta
Thankyou for pointing out the mistake i found the same mistake but not in my ROR book, but in Admiralty Mariner's Handbook, i was reading from there, and they had many such mistakes which even NTM can't update 😂
except where a towing light is required, be placed at a height not less than 4 mts above hull.....it does't mean that the height of the towing light has to be not less than 4 mts rather it says that the lowest of the two or three lights be placed 4 mts above the hull.
when you say about the towing vessel they are not the (white lights)as you mentioned they are the masthead lights in a vertical line followed by two or three depending on the towing length rest your annex was helpful many thanks
In 20:05 if we place between the two masthead lights then the criteria of 4.5m vertical seperation from forward masthead light should be followed or not ??
How would be nav lights placed on a VLCC of 333 meters, please explain . Because practically the lenght between fwd mast and main mast is more than 100mtrs in VLCC.
It says height need not be more than 12 metres not saying that height shall not be more than 12 metres. Fwd masthead light can be at a higher level than 12m above the hull.
Sir, your videos are very good and knowledgeable, but I am in doubt in rule h1 & h2 , may you please check it again and please be kind to revert me if possible to clear my doubt.
Thanks for explaining, its much easy now, regarding (g) please verify as i read something else on page 17 in the book" international light, shape and sound signals" by D.A.moore Standford maritime london.

@@depankarskumar2766 Kindly read it again 'Except where a Towing light is required' Means where a Towing light is requiered in that case the Towing light would be the Lowest of the lights . Such a light(towing light at stern) shall be placed not less than 4m above the Hull . logically also it works well. As your lowest of the aftermast lights shall be at least 4.5m above the forward one where as your forward mast head need not be less than 6m. That makes the lowest of the aftermast light already 10.5m above the Hull. Hence that point is specifically for Towing Light ( Yellow) at the stern.

Exactly that's where I got confused😕 as I've never seen the stern and towing light at such greater heights on the aft deck.
Exactly 💯,
Same here, I also got confused in this point it says last light should be atleast 4 meters above, except in case of a towing light..
