Love this! And I appreciate your acknowledgement that 10 mins per class is a lot. I also love my daily routines for all classes (~10 mins of warmup/bellring review questions ~5 mins for a low-stakes, 3-5 question quiz at the end of the day). I'm always surprised how many students say they actually like these activities (or at least, they recognize how helpful they are)!
Currently teaching science and am hoping to gain some time as I get more efficient with these courses. You are motivating me to find/make room to incorporate an article of the week.
How long does it usually take you to find an article? Do you ever edit them? I recognize the value for vocabulary-building but I'm teaching in an immersion context and much of the "real world" content is really a stretch for my students working in their second language.

I rarely edit them, Ann. To see the list I use, head here: davestuartjr.com/aow

Thanks, Dave. Question: After you circle the words on the doc can, do you explain what they mean? If you do, I’m curious what that looks like.

Yes, I do -- we draw an arrow to the circle into a space on the margins to briefly (2-3 words) define the word while I explain it.

Very important part of the process you've keyed in on there -- good work.
