- After washing it off in the last video we get the car up on the ramp and finally get a our first look underneath. Having inspected the underside we fitted a new cambelt and water pump, fuel tank and pipes and hit the start button. Once again thanks for your support and please leave us a comment.
I love the nicely ironic “CVH” reg plate 👌
The heart is beating, just needs a good wash and brush-up and you have a classic👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Ice blasting would bring everything mint😉
Great work guys!
Hi Paul, back in 2004 ish I restored an RS 500 , E100 VAW no 250/500 , it was a Barn find and as rotten as a crisp , It had to be a reshell as back then they weren't worth the hundreds of hours in labour and new panels to keep the original shell ( dont hate me) . so a nut and bolt rebuild followed on a new 3 door motorsport shell with sunroof.... I had a lot of fun doing this project with my Brother , sadly he has passed away now.... I still have the rebuild pictures on " Floppy disc" ! I often wonder where the car i now . all the best and thanks for the memories Rachel Plant
It is currently for sale on autotrader for £150k
@@zone2930 Thank You !!!!! I often wondered how she was, and so proud of the fact she looks as beautiful as the day We ( my brother and I) finished her.... I cried a little looking through the pictures , but proud tears !
You are great speakers!
I can’t wait to see the transformation in this iconic car.. from way back in 87/88 i always said and still to this day the best ever car built the legendary RS500 COSWORTH and to see one sell for just short of £600k obviously with 5k on the clock may suggest i was right all the way WHAT A MACHINE 😍
I was chatting to the guy whose friend sold the £600k Cosworth and the main reason why it sold for that much was 2 guys, one from Ireland and one from Dubai wanted it badly, not sure they are worth that sort of money unless you are minted and want one so bad you don't care how much.
@mikeburke603 who won the car at the end?
27 years . Sounds mint
Good to see you again Paul, been a few years now since we spoke & caught up, I didn't now you did RUclips clips, Stuart has told you are doing well. must catch up next time I am in the UK.
Hi Tom , we must catch up , hope you are well
Nice job so far

i love it. i remember one of the blokes who was a customer of my boss had one of these. i was 17 and remember him saying this is the fastest ford in town. sounded fantastic when it drove off down the road.
What a find! So glad it is in your hands. You’re a true legend, please keep the videos coming. Best RS500 specialist by far people. This man is a stalwart, don’t ever retire.
Thank you , but sadly one day ill retire , they day i drop dead with a spanner in my hand , lol
Excellent video as always. Aye it’s nice to see she lives. Looking forward to next instalment

Nice one fellas, cracking watch 👍🏻👌🏻
So glad you guys have done this the proper way buy stopping things first before start up
Fantastic guys ❤
Great work lads loves these videos great to see you getting them back on the road 😊😊
Cracking videos these, keeps us Cossie fans happy. Keep up the good work lads.
Brilliant video - wise words and advice on 2 experts on how to deal with such a rare unmolested car and how far to go without ' spoiling ' it.Could not be in a better place with such ' know-how ' , I'm sure the owner will be really chuffed and fulfill the dream of driving her on his 80th birthday !
Well done Paul u top guy I enjoy your videos can't wait for the next one now
Cracking video guys meet u both at nec was great to have a quick chat cannot wait for more videos on this car 👏🏼
First turn of the key after twenty seven years. That’s impressive. 👍
totaly shocked us as you can see in the video , i just didnt know what to say ,
Love your videos chaps. Seen yous at the NEC. Great work 😊
Dry ice cleaning would do a fantastic job of this classic 👍
Loved this video lads thanks
Great stuff, the condition is superb . Looking forward to see what you do with it next guys
It looks so good down there. I`ll hug and kiss it every night before going to sleep. It looks better than my Mama....🤪
You need a company to sponsor dry ice blasting the underside
I went to a house yesterday and there was a xr4i on the drive and a xr2i both looked tidy.
Tip top job lads, look forward to the next one 💪🏻
Excellent work guys,
Dry ice …! ? Is it available in the UK ..?
Top job boys 👏👏
Amazing car! Sounds bloody lovely. You lads get all the good jobs😂
Would to see this Ice blasted underneath then paint correction, lovely car
Address all safety items and clean to an inch of it's life
Perfect
i hope in the near future he invests into totaly going to bare shell and re doing it all would be an out standing car if fully restored and painted sounds great
What? why would he devalue an original condition car. That makes zero sense unless its a rot box
@@bigduphusaj162 i very much dout it would devalue it restoring to a top spec would increase its value anyone that brought this would do the same thing to keep the car in top condition there is no way half that chasis is safe being sat around for almost 30 years without being treated
I think Paul will end up buying this off the owner sometime in the near future. Watch this space😮
Paul, can you ask Adam to buy you a torch for Xmas. I know a northerner is frugal but come on man 😂 ps and some wing guards or an old sheet
Hi Paul and Steve, always a pleasure to see/hear any let alone a Cozzie engine fire up after 25 plus yrs, but this one sounded brilliant straight away even on 2 cylinders. Going to be a lovely original car this, and great to watch its return through your video's. Alex.
Thanks as always for your comments Alex , your always so positive
@@paullinfoot6017
Morning Paul, positive as a reaction to your fantastic videos, you and Steve make a great team, possibly you strike a chord for us watchers from a Workshop/main dealer background, as we relate directly to the banter and points you clarify. Along with an admiration for your workshop facilities and unequalled skill and knowledge.. definitely you guys are in the top % on RUclips.. so keep the videos coming please.. Alex.
Can not believe how fast she wanted go after 27 years gents I have a feeling she’s going to be a good car after u have spent some time with her looking forward to the next one
Blew us both away Lee , no way did we expect it to fire up like that , amazing
26:00, where did that fkn big spider come from ?
keep it up chaps
Definitely a Minta when cars had a soul not like cars ov today
Mint must have a different meaning up North!
Wow that sounds sweet no tapping
Start to say hi 😂. Awesome videos
I noticed we didnt welcome people , lol , sorry , Ill make a point next video , looked quite rude
@paullinfoot6017 no that's fine, you guys are very busy and another on ur mind. Very thankful you take the time to do these great videos and help people learn about these Fords and parts for them. Happy weekend and take care.
❤
Looks cold in the garage . Steam coming out of the mouth 😅😂. Need warmer Australian weather . ..
Screams for a dry ice blasting, please.
Paul you're a braver man than me grabbing coils on cylinders you know aren't firing right and not been used in near 3 decade 😂 Mate just watch what you are doing as i witnessed my Uncle do the exact same thing and manhandled some old coils on a Evinrude outboard engine and his thumb blew apart in front of me. It even made the bursting noise i thought i was in the old Doom game as it blew the nail clean off and split the sack type pad thing inside it and was all ripped under the thumbnail where it had blew off, the tomato sauce was in my eyes and everywhere else i could see. Off the back of that I got myself a cheap glove that can take it if i get stung by the coil packs and im glad i did too because a bad coil on CBR1000 older model back when they brought the electronic steering damper in still gave me a nice wee warning buzz through the glove. That would have been a full finger explosion for sure as when i checked they coils history they were notorious for zapping mechanics and causing permanent finger injurys. They were the Exact set that got Honda got the bad reputation for coils. Bullet dodged sir but its the day you have the bad bit right on a finger tip that it arcs right throught and up to the nail and yeah... Tomato Sauce EVERYWHERE
What about dry iceing the underneath you approve or not paul
nice
Have you considered dry ice blasting the underside?
Sounds quiet when started I remember listening to a std 3 door wasnt a rs500 when they were new and the engine sounded noisy when cold I was told they suffered from piston slap when cold if it was mine I would end up dropping all the running gear but I get what u saying car is only original once so less is better
That will be the mower then....😂
Another great vid. Love watching the progress of this. Were you North Yorkshire RS spares years back? I used to buy bits off you back in the nineties.
Yes Stephen that was me ,
Nice to put a face to the name. Thanks for your help. Always very helpful when I called up, pre internet days. @@paullinfoot6017
What do you think t will cost to get back on the road and what will it be worth?
Who was the Scottish fella on the stand with you guys? Expert level cossie dude!
Ali Mcmillan , great guy ,
@@paullinfoot6017 nice guy, very helpful 👍
Trying to think of the comedy series, this shop is for local people… the taxi driver
Hard to push in high heels mind
Paul
Did you know this car was out there somewhere or was it missing of your build lists etc.
It was an unknown car mate , so makes this story even better
Remember, this car is nearly 37 years old and was built by FOMOCO, not renowned for their rust proofing.
Paul theres a video on my channel of cleaning and testing the fuel sender
How can they gurantee that the rust is only superficial if they are not using any tools? To be honest I see rust everywhere. In Portugal we dont have salt in the roads during the winter. The cars are in much better conditions.
Bit rusty worth doin right. Thanks
Bilt hamber hydrate 80 first! Then BH UB and UC...New waxoyl isn't the best choice.
Considering they made 5000 of these there doesn't seem to be many about now
It'll be reet when its done.
What makes me sad is I sit and watch these cars year to year, deade to decade and as my potential to get one goes up so do the prices and I'm always just out of reach and I think now I have to accept it wont happen.
first take wheels off make life easier
Really , its such a good job we allow comments snt it , imagine how i would struggle without them , lol
Bla Blabla good and no Aktion 😢
Bumpers slide on ! Must be a milllone pound car
Think that masking tape would look bit worse
People always miss a trick . Save original tank
Bloke must be laughing. Imagine getting a fiesta bumper off. Lob in canal
You should put the heating on in there mate. Can see your breath lol
We are yorkshire lads , lol , we were warm , lol
He’s too tight to put the heater on
You’ll be needing more white fuel clips then.
