    Paul and Steve you guys have done exactly what the car deserves to really preserve it for the future. The work done now has caught any rust before it gets bad. The owner has made the right decision. Great work lads. So looking forward to seeing her all finished.

    I'm completely amazed at how she is after 27 years especially being in a barn in the U.K, your going the right way too far can never be enough so long as your wallet can keep up, so you're doing it as the owner requested and he's listening to the experts, she's MINT. The dedication you guys put in shows in the work and video is absolute magic thanks for sharing the journey I'm loving it.

    You guys are doing everything just right no doubt about it.
    I'd call what you're doing a thorough and necessary restoration.
    You've definitely caught it just in time before the rot sets in, really good to see you address the various jobs that might seem unimportant but make a big difference to the end result as well as future proofing it. Top work !
    Glad you're doing the Zinc plating I find it's not overly expensive, same goes for the powder coating that's usually quite reasonable.
    The underside came out great it looks nice and fresh, when it's clean like that i'm sure you're going to enjoy refitting all the shiny components.
    Glad I found your channel it's making me get off my arse and carry on with my current restoration project, I've been doing a bit too much procrastinating recently you guys clearly haven't !

    Both Wurth & Teroson do a very good underbody black wax, it goes on like factory coating & looks tremendous. Its in a stonechip type of tin, so you use a stonechip gun to apply. On cold days you have to heat the tin up before you can get it out of the tin. Maybe worth a look for you.

    • @flat4-
      @flat4- 11 месяцев назад +1

      My experience is Teroson is crap, it is rubber based and start to flake quick, water gets between and corrosion begins. You better of with Bilt Hamber syntax, it stays soft and waxy and protects better, only thing is you have to keep up with it every year....

    • @Dave5843-d9m

      Better still, grit blast the outside to bare metal and zinc metal spray. Follow with an epoxy primer. Any good load bed paint works after that.

    For Ice blasting, try to check hydroblaster but those usually works with 440V or can find diesel/gasoline powered stuff and for that underneath tar in car would be enough 700bar, then if needed can reduce pressure if start damaging floor pan, but it wont.

I do wonder if you should have also given it a covering of the Dove grey as well, even if it’s going to be a regular drive. I suspect it won’t see too much mileage, especially given the owners age. I totally understand your dilemma concerning “how far do we go” and again totally agree that the cars underside is mint and totally sound. Being an aircraft structures engineer I always swear by LPS3 I think the best self-healing, soft, waxy film and would love to have the satisfaction of covering its underside 😁, but then who I’m I too tell you how to suck eggs!

    Hi Paul and Steve, loving the progress with this car, looking brilliant underneath etc now. The rotisserie makes life so much easier, and fantastic access. Overall isn't it in amazing condition for its age, after your work on it, will be good for at least another 25 yrs. Roll on next video. Alex.

    I was surprised to see the boot floor was solid on top of the chassis rails.. I remember welding loads of these back in the day... Are you going to Waxoyl the box sections?
