..............he called them 'six foot turkeys' not 'turkey sized' lol. so not accurate at all....Ironically the most scientifically accurate part was I think, when they said you could get dinosaur blood from amberfied-mosquitos....i'm pretty sure they actually did that...except there's no way to do anything with it because.......it's fossilized too. (Which did nothing to stop the people with no sense of self preservation whatsoever to get all excited and "WE MAKE JURASSIC PARK NOW KTHX!!!" and the people with common sense "DID YOU EVEN WATCH THE MOVIE THERE ARE 6 NOW ABOUT WHY THAT IS A TERRIBLE IDEA"

Another great reaction, Lirtzie! Such a beautiful, energetic reactor, and I love the accent! ❤
As a long time Spielberg and dinosaur fan, this is one of my favorite movies. I think I saw it about a dozen times in the theaters. Yes, this is based on a book by Michael Crichton. I recommend reading the book.
John Hammond is not Dennis Nedry's dad. Nedry was being sarcastic when he said "thanks dad" because Hammond was lecturing him.
The ground penetrating radar (GPR) the paleontologists were using to image the raptor near the beginning of the film was a relatively new technology back then. Nowadays it's a common tool used by archeologists, paleontologists, treasure hunters, and surveyors.
In reality, velociraptors really were about the size of a modern wild turkey. What were used in the movie more closely resembled Deinonychus, but I guess Spielberg thought Raptor sounded better. There's no evidence to support the view that a T-Rex would not be able to see you if you didn't move. If you ever meet a T-Rex, run! Dinosaurs would have a tough time surviving in today's world. The air in the cretaceous period contained about 50% more oxygen then today's air, and the temperatures then were about 5-10 degrees celsius warmer than today. That T-Rex chasing the Jeep would have had to stop every few steps and catch her breath.
The sequel, The Lost World is very good too, in my opinion. The third movie (not directed by Spielberg) is not as good, but if you're going to watch the franchise, you have to see them all.

The “cgi” holds up because there is very little actual cgi. Most of the dinosaurs are practical effects - models and animatronics

  • @BigGator5
    @BigGator5 Год назад +3

    "Welcome... to Jurassic Park."
Fun Fact: The franchise generated much interest in dinosaurs that the study of paleontology saw a record increase in students.
Lost In Adaptation Fact: The Mr. DNA (Greg Burson) cartoon was Steven Spielberg's way of condensing much of the novel's exposition into a few minutes.
Practical Over CGI Fact: What made this movie the groundbreaking flick that we know today, was the use of Practical Effects with CGI mixed in. If this movie was made today, CGI would have been used for everything and it wouldn't have looked good.
Self Insert Fact: Michael Crichton said that his views on science and genetic engineering are largely expressed by Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum). Steven Spielberg saw many parallels to himself in the character of John Hammond (Richard Attenborough). Fittingly, Spielberg cast a fellow filmmaker in the role, who begins his tour of the park by showing a movie in which he also acts. While Malcolm is dressed entirely in black, Hammond wears all white.
Not The Virus Fact: The guests' encounter with the sick Triceratops ends without any clear explanation as to why the animal is sick. Michael Crichton's original novel and the screenplay, however, include an explanation: the Stegosaurus/Triceratops lacked suitable teeth for grinding food, and so, like birds, would swallow rocks and use them as gizzard stones. In the digestive tract, these rocks would grind the food to aid in digestion. After six weeks, the rocks would become too smooth to be useful, and the animal would regurgitate them. When finding and eating new rocks to use, the animal would also swallow West Indian Lilac berries. The fact that the berries and stones are regurgitated explains why traces of them are not found in the animal's excrement.

The storm wasn't originally in the script but they filmed in Hawaii and it was hit by a hurricane and it destroyed some of the sets so they wrote it into the movie, Spielberg apparently played board games with the kids to keep their minds off the storm.
The scene where the plexiglass roof of the SUV falls on the kids wasn't supposed to happen but the T-Rex malfunctioned and pushed down too hard so that was the kids genuine reaction.

The reason the paleontologists and the scientist goes to the island is because of the law suit by the family of the worker who was killed in the opening scene, by the raptor. The lawyer goes to the mine at the start, and talks about it.
The file system is pretty much standard UNIX, so not that strange that a hacker would know it. But... yeah, some artistic license. Though the file manager does exist.

Loved the movie when it came out and had the DVD for many years. Also liked Laura Dern in this and the film "October Sky". Now unfortunately, the dinosaurs are very dated mainly because of feathers and other knowledge gained since then. The T Rex always bothered me because of it was probably just a low growler not a roarer, it had excellent eyesight for things standing still or not, and had excellent smell so anyone standing still would have been a quick snack.
