    That seatbelt scene in the chopper isn’t just a joke about him having issues with technology, it’s also about the overarching theme of the movie. “Life finds a way.” He takes two “female” seatbelt halves and manages to make something work. Just like all the female dinosaurs on the island.

    To be clear, since I think not a lot of people realize this: Birds don't just come from dinosaurs, they are literally dinosaurs. Specifically they are the Aves group from the Theropoda branch of Dinosauria, the other two branches of Dinosauria being Ornithischia and Sauropodomorpha. Other dinosaurs in the Theropod branch include velociraptors, tyrannosaurus, and dilophosaurus to name a few.
    So when you're looking at a bird, you are looking at a living dinosaur.

    • @stxticnathan6627

      My favourite dinosaur currently alive is either the marabou stork, the shoebill stork or the bearded vulture.

    • @AMMS10
      @AMMS10 Год назад

      So maybe you can explain this to me. I do believe in dinosaurs ,fyi. But there is no genetic correlation between scaled animals being able to develop feathers. Even today we can't find any tangible evidence of scaled or lizard like animals that have feathers.

    • @jrus690
      @jrus690 Год назад +4

      It is not entirely clear of Bird relationship, but yes they more or less are descendants. The community I think is still trying to work out whether all Dinosaurs were actually 'birds' per say, or that birds were branch off of the raptor group. Did all dinosaurs have proto feathers, like late Triassic mammals with proto fur, or was it just some groups of therapods.

    • @imle9279
      @imle9279 Год назад +4

      @@jrus690 It's still pretty new research, but I believe only some of them had feathers. Velociraptors had definitely feathers (due to the fossils being found with feathers), while bigger species such as T rex most likely didn't have feathers. They lived in tropical/warm habitats, and looking at bigger animals compared to smaller animals today, we see the bigger animals having less/no fur, while smaller ones have.
      Elephants, rhinos and hippos to name a few big animals in warm climates who don't have fur. Giraffes basically being the exception in the group of the biggest land animals. Big birds today are rarely fully feathered as well, Ostriches, marabou stork, cassoways and rheas to name the bigger ones.
      T rexes were carnivores, while these animals are herbivores, so it could be possible that they had feathers to camoflauge more (like how the biggest land predators today have fur, lions, tigers, bears, wolves etc.) so it's still a possibility that they had feathers, but I personally think it would be too hot for them? when having a big body that produces a lot of heat and loses heat slowly, having a form of insolation would be pointless.
      I personally believe they had scales with patterns to help blend in, as they weren't loud animals irl

    • @maingate7672
      @maingate7672 Год назад +4

      So, if, as you say, birds are living dinosaurs, then it's possible they still carry the DNA of primitive dinosaurs in their genetic profile. Thus, it could be possible, by some as yet developed means, to recreate a primitive species of dinosaur. I'm asking more than assuming, as my knowledge of genetics is only comparable to my knowledge of particle physics, which means, I got nothing. However, I believe what my Daddy used to say, before he left this cold, cruel world, ''In nature, nothing is ever wasted or lost.''

    The book explains the cloning in more detail. Yes, multiple mosquitos from different parts of the world from different time periods. Basically, once they had a complete DNA strand, by filling in the gaps, etc., they'd literally have to grow it to see what hatched out. Then if it was still not "right," they'd go back, tweak the DNA and try again. So in the book, there were multiple versions of each dinosaur they created, with the more current "version" out in the park. Highly recommend reading the book, it's incredible and a fun read.

    To get the concentric ripples in the water glass, they tied a guitar string from the frame of the car to a platform under it. A crew member was under the car, and every time he plucked the string, it sent vibrations into the cup holder and into the cup, causing the perfect ripples.
    According to a "making of" video I saw, Steven Spielberg was driving along I-5 listening to AC/DC with the volume cranked up, and his rear mirror was vibrating every time the base hit. That was the inspiration for both the mirror vibrating and the water cup. The mirror was easy because it just had to vibrate, but the guy in charge of coming up with the ripples in the cup couldn't make the water ripple the way Spielberg wanted it to. He tried bass in subwoofers, hitting the bottom of the cup, probably a bunch of other things, but nothing worked. One evening at home, he was playing his guitar and for some reason he thought of setting a glass of water on the guitar and plucking the strings, and much to his surprise, there it was, the perfect ripples, so they basically turned the car into a giant guitar.

The book has a lot more horror element in it, plus several scene and character differences. I recommend reading it.

    How they got the water to ripple in the cup before the t-rex broke out was by putting a guitar string on the underside of the car and they had someone underneath the car plucking the guitar string to get that water ripple effect for that scene

    Hello Justin and Jane! I've just come across your channel recently and I just wanted to say that I love your content! #subscribed
    19:00 The scientist they're talking too is Dr. Henry Wu (BD Wong). Kenji Kon is from "Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous" and his father is Daniel Kon.
    32:02 What was "definitely an accident?" I've watched this movie so many times that I've lost count and I didn't pick up on what y'all, or more specifically Jane, picked up on something that I keep missing at the time stamp. 😁🤔
    35:01 When Justin points out that they're "stuck in front of the T-Rex Paddock." I always thought that this was also a "movie mistake," because it looked like the "cars/ride" had moved past the T-Rex Paddock when John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) and Ray Arnold (Samuel L. Jackson/SLJ) were having the conversation about the T-Rex being a "no-show."
    1:00:55 Jane's stress level put her through a "sorry not sorry" moment. LMAO! When Jane to Justin: "shhhut up!!....I'm sorry I told you to shut up." 🤣🤣🤣
    I love y'all #seejanegotv so much!

    What I love most about this movie is that it goes from 0 to 1,000,000 in like two scenes. Then it never really slows down. You get the illusion of it slowing down, but it really doesn't.
    Also, in the book it gets better explained that they didn't really know what animal they were cloning at first, because it's not like DNA comes with a neat little label, but because every animal is so expensive to clone, they had to keep the ones that did survive. So no, they couldn't just not clone carnivores.
    There's also waaaaay more dinos in the novel.

    As a Dinosaur enthusiast in my younger years, I was hyped for this movie & saw it with a friend who had the 'awesome idea' of sitting at the front to make the Dinosaurs look as big as possible! .... I remember coming out of the cinema with a huge grin on my face, but a very sore neck!!
    Sadly it's one of those films that no matter how many sequels they make, they're never anywhere near as great as the original, despite the many plot holes people (like my mate!) like to point out - the most infamous ones if memory serves being the depth of the T-rex paddock & how a huge, ground-shaking T-rex suddenly sneaks in unnoticed until the last moment in the final scenes!
    But when you've got awesome Dinosaurs, who cares? - great reaction! 😁😁

      Sorry to be the "actually" guy, but those aren't plot holes:
      -In ref to Rexy's paddock, it's not stated outright in the movie, but as Klayton points out, there are plenty of context clues: ruclips.net/video/64oc_hIm3xc/видео.html
      -In ref to Rexy shaking the ground, that's only when patrolling her territory so as to scare away intruders (like a male lion roaring when patrolling his territory). When actually hunting, she's shown being quiet (E.g. When she kills the Gallimimus & the Velociraptor).

    This movie singlehandedly brought velociraptors into the public consciousness, along with the idea that dinosaurs could be fast and athletic. When I was a kid (80s) dinosaurs were thought of as sluggish, slow, and stupid. (And people believed that brontosauruses had to live in swamps to support their enormous body weight, which is why Grant makes a point to refute it.) I saw this movie when I was twelve and I was blown away. I had never seen special effects like that!

    With the Dilopasaurous (the spitting dino) a lot of people think that the Dino that spits at Dennis Nedry is the same one in the jeep. In fact there was supposed to be x2. One outside and another that climbed inside the jeep as Dennis was attaching the towing cable.
    You don't see both on screen at the same time because they only had one animatronic Dilopasaurous, which could be altered with about 3 different heads depending on if its frills were open or its mouth needed to move.
    The hunting tactics of the Dilopasaurous were shown in Jutassic World Dominion when Dodgson is chased down the tunnel and into the hyperloop train car, but another smashes it's way in as a surprise attack.
    They work as a pack to distract whilst another creeps up to make the first fatal strike.
    It's a shame it's not shown correctly in this movie due to time constraints.

    I never thought about this until just now for some reason, maybe its my age. That opening scene where Allen Grant scares the kid with the raptor claw, I always thought that showed how little he liked kids, but it actually showed how good he really was with kids. The kid disrespected his favorite dinosaur, an apex pack predator by saying "that doesn't sound very scary, more like a 6ft turkey". He then proceeds to explain dramatically and theatrically how raptors hunt, showcasing just how scary they were before asking the kid to be more respectful. That's honestly like a G dad move, now I don't see the kid as scared, I now see him as inspired, they could have worked that into the new movies as a cameo or a throwback that he becomes an Allen Grant/Raptor enthusiast.

    18:30 nope they're all real people, and as for the Dino, DNA if you've played the games there are other ways to extract the DNA from dinosaurs and ancient fossilized mosquitoes
    18:59 actually you're wrong. Dr. Wu was in Camp Cretaceous, but he wasn't Kenji's dad.
    25:50 it wouldn't exactly be a dinosaur park without the predators, I'm not saying you're wrong, but them's the facts😅
    26:03 dilophosaurus was the top predator of its time, and was a lot bigger than what you'll see later on in the film. Also, the books description of Dilophosaurus, and other things makes it a whole lot scarier.
    33:04 if you seen the Jurassic World Series you'll see why people want their own dinosaurs for their own theme parks hunting purposes, medicinal purposes, or even weaponizing them.
    34:57 it's supposed to tell you then, but due to the loose nail he's just spinning it out of frustration
    34:58 that would be Oppenheimer
    35:32 they told everybody to leave on the boat. Those were not on the boat are stuck on the island.
    36:39 fun fact they're using a bass guitar in order to make the footsteps and when you hear the T-Rex know that a subwoofer was used
    49:55 like I said before you're not wrong, but Jurassic Park is a prehistoric zoo. If you go to a zoo to see the lions, and there are no lions, no gorillas no crocodiles no eagles or anything like that it's not much of a zoo and a lot of people wouldn't go to just see the herbivores. Yes having prehistoric predators would be bad if you don't know how to control it but the point is is that if you're going to make a prehistoric zoo, you need to make sure you take every single precaution otherwise this happens. And again you are not wrong maybe having an herbivore park would be better and safer. But then what would happen if a rhino got loosen in the zoo that doesn't mean it's safe you can still get killed. the point of this movie don't bring any dinosaurs cause they will defend themselves or attack you out of food or territory wise
    52:38 Gallimimus is actually an herbivore… However, you definitely don't want to get trampled by them if they're stampeding
    53:09 in Timmy's defense. If it were me and his spot, I would do the same thing, because Tyrannosaurus rex was my favorite dinosaur..... I'm not saying it's smart, but what kid wouldn't want to see a Tyrannosaurus tear into their meal😅
    53:29 sexes in survival situations, just to be specific😅
    58:06 dude if you were in her shoes, you would be breaking down because now you know why Samuel L Jackson didn't come back and she would've ended up the same way Had she not been quicker.
    1:00:15 I think anyone in their situation would be too scared to do anything else, and not sure if it would be either safe or even more dangerous plus, they don't know the facility very well they get lost and end up getting chased into a corner and die… Unfortunately for them that kitchen is no different, but at the very least, they would have some hiding spots.

    1:10:02 Grant said that to the kid to scare him at the beginning of the movie, not to the Robert the ranger on the island. Robert had no idea what they were truly capable of, only that they were terrifying. As a ranger used to hunting/controlling pack hunters, what he tried to do was completely correct, outnumbered. However, Robert did not know they, the raptors, would be smart enough to outflank him just as he tried to outflank them.

    • @TherealRNOwwfpooh

    This film is as nasty as PG can get in both the US and UK, where I'm from. The kills are mostly adapted from the book, which is full horror on the death scenes/chapters. They had to add an element of dark comedy to them in the film to make them palatable for parents; the slapstick of Nedry headbutting the jeep doorframe and the way he realises the Dilo is in there with him removes the impact of the fact he has been blinded and is about to be gutted; the way Mr Arnold's arm lands on Ellie's shoulder and her reaction to the bloody stump; and of course, lawyer Gennaro getting munched off a *toilet* is the most legendary death scene from the film. Also Malcolm apparently dies in the novel before his portrayal here made him so popular that Crichton ret-conned his own sequel novel; he spends the second half of the original book slowly drifting into morphine induced ramblings after getting his leg (graphically as hell) snapped in half (through-the-skin) and arteries severed...
