While know 99% of the things you talked about you never know when you might learn a new detail or two. I got a small taste of that during the alpha as I watched a player try to put a shield and a javalin on an act 2 Merc and get frustrated then start cursing at him lol. and it was then I realized the need for some more beginner stuff.

Should be interesting seeing them try to deal with immunities in Hell or the limited respecs of skills. I honestly think that the guides the high end D2LoD streamers are doing won’t be achievable for the majority of the D2R player base. I just watched a DBrunski123 video earlier where he had 3 piece Tal’s , deaths fathom all kinds of GG charms etc and labeled the build “budget” or “trades achievable”…problem is the players won’t have hundreds of followers on Bnet to trade and give them stuff early ladder. I often feel like those few people don’t realize how hard it is for the newbie or shy type player who isn’t very social to play and gear up online.
Malice is probably the most underrated. I think a lot of people don’t really get how good open wounds is. Plus it lowers enemy defense and prevents healing. So good for bosses
Problem with open wounds is the damage it deals is based on character level, plust the effect only lasts 8 seconds. People don't get a good look at what open wounds is great for until they get into the higher levels and see monster regenerate there entire pool of health in the blink of an eye.
Yeah the 8 seconds is the big downside. That’s an eternity in d2 combat. I combine it with high resistances and hit recovery for taking on bosses in hell.
Yes, and it's a nice lesson though because of the relatively cheap nature of the recipe. And will help them from making a much larger mistake with more valuable runewords later

28:14 The problem with Spirit is specifically the fact you need a 4-socket shield to put it into. It does not drop before Hell, as the first non-paladin base that can have 4 sockets is Monarch - elite item. As such, Splendor makes a lot of sense if you lack its +1 to skills or +10% fcr bonus to reach next breakpoint.
If you have a nice base item, +15%Def or +15%Dur and your rubeword comes out as a trash roll, throw it in the cube with Hel and TP scroll. It will remove(delete) the runes in the item and you can try try again. :) Best way to get those sick 35FCR Spirit monarchs.
I know this video is kind of old but honestly Splendor is pretty amazing and it's definitely a worth while runeword. Spirit is the go to shield for anyone as its got some amazing stats. There are a few "problems" with Spirit though... first off for anyone other than a paladin the lowest shield it can go in is a Monarch which is hell difficulty , then if you do find it you can't use it until 54 which is 17 levels later, and finally the biggest issue? It takes 156 strength to equip. That's a huge investment of stats especially at 54 for casters. Spelndor is a super low requirement shield that's basically a lidless eye with MF and GF on it.
yes all D2 LoD Ladder only runewords are available on Single Player and Non Ladder for D2R. However New Ladder only Runewords introduced in D2R are still Ladder only.
I've had a few people question do you really need faster run/walk. The simple answer is yes not only does it get you around the map faster but it allows you to kite mobs
My elemental bowazon has both harmony and melody. She breezed through nightmare and is in early hell. (Edit: And starting to struggle, obviously. Doing hell with early to mid nightmare gear is making me question my build. Fangskin in the claw viper temple is kicking my butt.)There is a difference I’d like to point out: Harmony has a really big damage boost. I’m at level 20 with my attack skills (although not with a lot of synergies because this is a compromise build) but I’m still doing almost as much physical as elemental damage. Melody with its plus to skills gives her like a 10 % higher elemental dmg output, multiplied by being on a slightly faster bow, but its physical damage is just gone. Also like to point out that 4 socket sceptres are super rare, so finding one with good skill bonuses isn’t realistically going to happen until you have high lvl chars farming hell. And maybe not ever. If I did find one I might consider starting a new pally just to have someone to give it to. Good oversight. Really helpful.
Edge bow can be surprisingly effective for necromancer, even more so if you wear it yourself. Use the Act 2 might merc, and keep the edge bow on swap. Summon your army with your real gear, curse with your real gear then swap to the bow. Now you have a Might Aura merc and A thorns aura at the same time.
Thank you for this video, I played the Hell out of Diablo 3 it being my first Diablo and I loved the story and world. Having started Diablo 2, now near the end of Nightmare part 1 I'm right at the point I have a good collection of starter runes but didn't know many words other than end game that are so often brought up when you search rune words
As soon as I get a chance to sit down and make a list haha. Debating on whether to even bother with a "mid level rune words" video as pretty much everything I left out is considered high level lol
If I didn't know any better I'd swear the universe was conspiring to keep me from finding Lum runes. I must have ran Nightmare and Hell countess like 110 times and I still had to resort to cubing up to one make Smoke. I either kept finding stuff just above Lum, or stuff far enough down the Rune ladder that cubing up stayed a daunting prospect before I finally lost my patience with it.
Smoke is extremely underrated for newer players, whether on Merc or char, particularly good on melee, the 50 res will keep you alive till you find something better and this is usable well into hell difficulty. Yeah stealth has fcr, fhr run, but smoke will make you a tank! I almost always use this when leveling.
Im fairly new to d2. But I put malice on my follower from act 2 i believe he has a hp regain aura and i gave him a decent rare helm with a socket and threw a flawed skull(? I combined 3 lowest lvl skull to make it) in there for good measure. it has been working out great on him lol. I put steel on myself.
So Mercenaries are Regen neutral as far as Drain and Replenish life go. He neither gets affected by drain nor gets effected by Regen. They have there own sort of Regen separate from ours.
@@SrSShanley I think it has to do with the fact that people had a lot of very specific builds. And people were complaining without ladder specific items they would be extremely limited.
making low level runeword items with socketables that you find especially 2 and 3 sockets that you cant use is huge for new players. They really appreciate the free items and it encourages them to make runewords instead of only going for unique and set items.
Don't forget Cloak of Shadows on Nadir. That spell alone can transform a difficult area into an easy one, especially for melee characters. You go from getting swarmed by multiple enemies you can't seem to hit, to hitting 100% of the time and taking down one enemy at a time. It's basically the teleport of assassins, and you can get it guaranteed at level 13, which is nuts.
You were pretty harsh on Harmony, it is the go to weapon for physical bowazon all the way until late game because the bows better than it only drop in late hell or require insane amounts of high runes (unless you are lucky enough to get a Goldstrike AND have the resources to up it).
Only dropped 1 Shael AFTER I defeated Baal the first time :( I was thinking Pally shield, actually but it has competition with Spirit and one other starter/shield runeword that also uses Shael.
Thanks for the video's I was wondering if you could do some videos on all the green set Item's, I've been trying to collect all the sets I got 5 or 6 full set's , many I'm only one piece away to completing the set's, I like how some of the sets are ment for low level grinding and others for higher levels.
My necromancer just hit level 80, act 2 in hell, and I'm experiencing a slow down, it's getting tougher lol, i need more power so I've been watching a bunch of your videos to help guide my path to victory.

Wait can you Path of Diablo offline mode? Because I would LOVE that. A separate space for charms was the QOL the devs needed to implement so I didn't need to portal to town 100 million MORE times than I already do.

Maybe it is just me hardcore sorc with prayer merc who gets the life regen, mana regen but i think it is the critical strike on the insight that seals it. Its about equal to 50 percent deadly strike. I suppose you could put in 3 high runes into reaver to get a better effect but...
It has to be the correct number of sockets, in a non magical base. The means it needs to be white then you add sockets to it, or it needs to be grey socketed. Magic, rare, set, and unique items don't work for runewords. ruclips.net/video/chmLa8MfoAY/видео.html
Actually I think I might only need 2-3 unless I use spirit but Shael-Eth still works fine too if I find a good enough shield... dropped that set shield recently. Oopsie.
Want a crazy sorc build? Dream shield, Dream helm, Hand of justice sword, Phoenix armor. Max: lite mastery, fire mastery, Frozen orb, Ice bolt, Cold Mastery extra points(-150% max), 156 str, rest life. MASIIVE AoE damage and all elements covered. Enjoy! 😀
There is no upgrade recipe for white items only rare and uniques. Runewords also have no such upgrade recipe. So you need to make sure those runewords are created in the proper base.
There is no such thing as single player non-ladder. There is only three. Offline Online ladder Online non ladder All runewords work in offline. All runewords work in ladder Certain ladder only runewords are restricted from Non Ladder Online. If you can't make a specific runeword you are in Online Non ladder. Further more All D2LoD ladder only runewords were made available to non ladder standard. All D2R 2.4 runewords were made available to non ladder as of patch 2.6. Currently the only runewords restricted from Non ladder are the 2.6 specific runewords
@@superkingtsob we put it to good use during our Uber runs as a budget smiter weapon. Finished 6 Uber runs so far, 3 paladin torch's 1 sorceress torch 1 druid torch and 1 necromancer torch.
Let's say you take 150 damage and 100 of that damage is physical 10% damage taken goes to mana means your mana pool will heal 10 mana and you will still take 150 damage. Damage taken goes to mana is great for melee classes that get hit a lot. Night smoke belt has 50% damage taken goes to mana and it works great on lots of characters.
You should revise this video. There are a few errors. For example you said sockets are not limited to the monster that drops the item if Larzuk or cube recipe, only for drops. Absolutely not true, Larzuk a Normal crystal sword from cows and you get four sockets, not six. This could make people waste their socket quest and it takes a few hours to rush a character to Larzuk so it's not the best mistake to make.
Yes, larzuk will give the maximum number of available sockets based on the ilvl of the item determined by the level of the monster on dropping. This video is old unfortunately and was before I refreshed my memory fully on more intricate topics like trying to find an item at the exact level 4 sockets is to be had like from normal cows. However for any item found from a high enough monster it will always be max sockets.
This video is like 2 years or even 3 years old now lol, it's one of the first videos I made and to be frank, it's not a very good one. I was only just getting used to making videos still very much so learning how to organize my thoughts, and how to even make a good video. I left this format behind as I felt it didn't focus enough on the individual merits of each runeword. Which is why eventually you will see a new series pop up where I go over each runeword one by one. Also I will admit at the time I was a bit rusty, I played diablo 2 up until 1.10 and did a lot of single player, with my brother, nephew, and even solo. But I was missing much of the knowledge of patches after 1.10 and I was having to relearn some things also. In fact many times I would make a video just for myself lol, and not for you guys. Refreshing my own memory as I went, and learning about the changes the later patches brought.
@GGMentor fair enough. I've been playing this game on and off for almost 20 years. Some of these rune words, I wouldn't even consider using, unless I started a new account and someone dropped them in a "free" game. My criticism is that you didn't sound like you were familiar with the items. It sounded more like you looked them up and listed them off.
Exocet is the font used in Diablo,. The 5's and 6's are nearly identical in the exocet font making it a bit confusing. Even knowing the difference, I still slip up.
White items, superior items and socketed items. No blue, rare, or unique items work. However superior items have bonuses already and do work for runewords. So you can get an item that has say 4 sockets with +15% enhanced damage
I started last season thinking I was going to be a dragon paladin. No way to get the high rooms without billions of hours of play. Not one sur rune or any other in that category or higher . I'll try one more season but if you can't complete a character in one season without having to buy s*** and play a billion hours I think I'm done
You can be a holy fire paladin without dragons. It still works fairly well. Sur Runes are obtainable through farming you just have to work at it. We got like 6 sur Runes last season.
Why even mention Holy Thunder, especially as "low level". You had to hero edit to get one. I am in Hell solo self found and have never seen one. You also can't Larzuk them. At 26 ilevel, scepters go to 5 OS. Also in Hell, all the ones you can shop become blue. It's a unicorn of an item outside of cheating.
Not really, it's about luck finding a good base as you level. I found a base for this during ladder +2 zeal +2 holy shock and used it until I got my crescent moon

just rerolled one the other day it was my 4th try at a spirit and hit 35 fcr 8 Magic absorb and 107 of 112 mana. almost perfect

Yes if you don't have enough Faster Run walk you won't even be able to kite duriel in Act 2 tombs.
Especially as a Poison Nova necro since your damage is not instant. 🧪

Lol I can never get rid of them fat enough. I always end up with a lump rune surplus

Black is a good cheap wep for budget Ubers Smiter Paladin.
Good to know and it makes sense, since smite already has a knock back effect.
2 socket shield doesn’t require 156 strength, so it’s good for FCR breakpoints without strength investment
Yeah, and there are some pretty good choices for 2 socket shields.
I feel like lidless shield would be a good choice though over splendor.

Yes, spirit is a shield and a sword. It has different stats depending on whether it is a shield in it or a sword.
1:28 I will add also that it also lower the requirement by 10 in each stats.

It's crazy that Insight is stronger than a decent Tomb Reaver but it is. Insight should require at least a Vex.
I don't know if I agree insight is stronger than a tomb reaver, but I do agree Insight, and spirit both need harder to obtain runes in the recipe.
@@GGMentor I think an ethereal elite insight is. I tried both of them. Maybe it is just me hardcore sorc with prayer merc who gets the life regen, mana regen but i think it is the critical strike on the insight that seals it. Its about equal to 50 percent deadly strike. I suppose you could put in 3 high runes into reaver to get a better effect but...
Can you make Stealth with armor that has 3 sockets? Or does it HAVE to have only 2 sockets?
It has to be the correct number of sockets, in a non magical base.
The means it needs to be white then you add sockets to it, or it needs to be grey socketed.
Magic, rare, set, and unique items don't work for runewords.

All Ladder only Runewords were added to Non Ladder in Diablo II Resurrected. so you can make it now in D2R

Can you upgrade the armors n such to elite after doing the rune word or before or not at all?
There is no upgrade recipe for white items only rare and uniques.
Runewords also have no such upgrade recipe. So you need to make sure those runewords are created in the proper base.

If you can't make a specific runeword you are in Online Non ladder.

All D2LoD ladder only runewords were made available to non ladder standard.
All D2R 2.4 runewords were made available to non ladder as of patch 2.6.
Currently the only runewords restricted from Non ladder are the 2.6 specific runewords

What does 10% of dmg gies to mana mean? Does it deal damage to your mana or do you gain mana based on the damage taken?
Let's say you take 150 damage and 100 of that damage is physical 10% damage taken goes to mana means your mana pool will heal 10 mana and you will still take 150 damage.
Damage taken goes to mana is great for melee classes that get hit a lot.
Night smoke belt has 50% damage taken goes to mana and it works great on lots of characters.

You should revise this video. There are a few errors. For example you said sockets are not limited to the monster that drops the item if Larzuk or cube recipe, only for drops. Absolutely not true, Larzuk a Normal crystal sword from cows and you get four sockets, not six. This could make people waste their socket quest and it takes a few hours to rush a character to Larzuk so it's not the best mistake to make.
Yes, larzuk will give the maximum number of available sockets based on the ilvl of the item determined by the level of the monster on dropping.
This video is old unfortunately and was before I refreshed my memory fully on more intricate topics like trying to find an item at the exact level 4 sockets is to be had like from normal cows.
However for any item found from a high enough monster it will always be max sockets.

You have to find an etheral bow with the right number of sockets or create those sockets with the horadric cube recipe.

It's not *indestructible* though and in my experience, ethereals are automatic garbage without indestructible OR being on a merc.
Repairs durability, as well as certain abilities like blade fury don't burn durability
Oh forgot the repair automatically part, little handier if you just sit around I guess for a while too if you've gotten low.
Where's Treachery?
Treachery has a lem rum in it which places it more at a mid level rune word and doesn't belong in the low level rune words list.

Did you just start playing diablo 2 in the last few months? You don't sound like someone who's been playing for very long.
This video is like 2 years or even 3 years old now lol, it's one of the first videos I made and to be frank, it's not a very good one.
I was only just getting used to making videos still very much so learning how to organize my thoughts, and how to even make a good video.
I left this format behind as I felt it didn't focus enough on the individual merits of each runeword.
Which is why eventually you will see a new series pop up where I go over each runeword one by one.
Also I will admit at the time I was a bit rusty, I played diablo 2 up until 1.10 and did a lot of single player, with my brother, nephew, and even solo.
But I was missing much of the knowledge of patches after 1.10 and I was having to relearn some things also.
In fact many times I would make a video just for myself lol, and not for you guys. Refreshing my own memory as I went, and learning about the changes the later patches brought.
@GGMentor fair enough. I've been playing this game on and off for almost 20 years. Some of these rune words, I wouldn't even consider using, unless I started a new account and someone dropped them in a "free" game.
My criticism is that you didn't sound like you were familiar with the items. It sounded more like you looked them up and listed them off.

Exocet is the font used in Diablo,. The 5's and 6's are nearly identical in the exocet font making it a bit confusing.
Even knowing the difference, I still slip up.

White items, superior items and socketed items.
No blue, rare, or unique items work.
However superior items have bonuses already and do work for runewords.
So you can get an item that has say 4 sockets with +15% enhanced damage

I started last season thinking I was going to be a dragon paladin. No way to get the high rooms without billions of hours of play. Not one sur rune or any other in that category or higher . I'll try one more season but if you can't complete a character in one season without having to buy s*** and play a billion hours I think I'm done
You can be a holy fire paladin without dragons.
It still works fairly well.
Sur Runes are obtainable through farming you just have to work at it.
We got like 6 sur Runes last season.
Why even mention Holy Thunder, especially as "low level". You had to hero edit to get one. I am in Hell solo self found and have never seen one. You also can't Larzuk them. At 26 ilevel, scepters go to 5 OS. Also in Hell, all the ones you can shop become blue. It's a unicorn of an item outside of cheating.
Not really, it's about luck finding a good base as you level.
I found a base for this during ladder +2 zeal +2 holy shock and used it until I got my crescent moon

@@ricecharles War Scepter, Divine Scepter, and Caduceus all can spawn up to 5, Hell difficulty is required for 5 not 4
