99.9 % of people fit a blow off valve or dump valve as it is also called just for the sound...

You talked about a blow off valve at the end of the video you release today (9 Oct 2022). I honestly don’t know what they do, so I did a RUclips search and the first video to pop up was this one! A video from 4 years ago! Awesome!
Thank you for the explanation on differences between the two. BOVs vs. DVs isn't inherently obvious to someone who is new to turbo systems.

Also that noise can come from the wastegate too if I'm not mistaken
@@LogieT2K My ASS!! All my 2020 GTI has is (APR intake, turbo inlet, turbo muffler delete, Forge BOV). Turbo flutter starts around 15psi, and sounds oohh soo sexy. I was surprised at how controllable the sound is, makes the car a one-note musical instrument. Drive light and granny it, it's barely heard. Dog it out a little, massive flutter and hiss. An excellent addition for driver/car familiarity and engagement. As for drops in boost, it's barely noticeable. Kinda like the car is, WITHOUT a BOV on it 😉

Maybe discuss diagnosing a bad one and talk about DV options, that are on the market and what situation, you should upgrade from a stock version.
I have a 2021 Stinger GT awd, I thought I knew how turbos worked until I watched this. Makes so much more sense now. Looking into buying some blow off valves, but left w some education! Thanks!

Already had an idea how the turbo system works and where the dump valve fits in. His video gave great information and clear viewing of the whole process.
I'm not a car person so I'm not very clued-up, and as a result of a comment on another video I had to look up the difference between turbo's and dump valves, I didn't know that turbo's went 'psssshhh' too, now I do, and why, cheers mate! 🤝 🍻

I like the fact that he says if ur light Modding your car. No need to upgrade you diverter valve/ blow of valve. I’m anticipating once you going stage two you should consider upgrading the DV/BOV.

Either way you go both are a nice upgrade compared to the plastic components from stock.
adding a cold air intake helps to make the bov louder.

So, is there any reason I can’t disconnect the low pressure recirc side from my factory valve, and blank off the hole in the side of the intake, so as to turn the factory divert valve into a vent to atmo BOV? The actual valve unit is functionally the same, isn’t it? Cheers!

So my question is. I recently bought a Forge atmospheric BOV for my 2014 mk6 gti 2.0tsi and the only mod under my hood is a CAI. In your opinion, can I install it now even with my stock ko3? or would it be safe to install it later this year when I purchase a ko4 or bigger turbo for my car? Thanks for awesome videos. Your lead photo shows a DV with two lines. Most simple have only one line - for manifold vacuum. Q1: Is the 2nd line for turbo Boost sense? Q2: what benefit is an IPCV added to a simple DV (a DV with 1 vacuum line control)? Porsche 944 Turbo, Forge DV. Adding a Forge IPCV.

What damage is caused if your diverter valve isn't working? Let's say for like two years!!! (Found out mine was disconnected since I bought it on a 1.8L T, wondered what that bird flutter sound was after an acceleration :( . Somehow never threw any codes and wasn't caught in two dealer inspections!

Back in the day I used to soup up a few turbo dodge cars,,, non of those used mass air flow sensors,, all you had to do was trick the map sensor from showing a overboost condition

Nice video. So this might have impact on air fuel mixture but does it impact turbo lag? Like increasing it cause you have to rebuild the intake charge? Or am I missing something?
keep in mind some valves have a hose to provide extra boost or vacuum on the spring side to keep it shut or to help it release faster 🖒

I got a APR snail intake, I get both spool and blow off sounds.
Once you installed the BOV Kit and want to switch to DIV, can you use the same kit or can you just swap the Valves?
I sent an email about this with no response.
My question is, will having a blow off valve cause you to take longer to build up boost because you're letting out pressure?
a correctly functioning blow off valve only opens when the throttle plate is closed and you lift off the gas....it doesn't bleed off boost or cause boost to take longer to build up. It just relieves the built up boost once the throttle plate is closed.

Hey man nice video, thanx, i have a 2015 Suzuki Alto RS Turbo (standard KEI car) this small car has amazing fuel economy and has a decent torque as well. This is my daily driver. Question is, iam interested in adding a BOV, should i? the only reason why i wanna do this is the psssshhhhh sound hehe. If i do, will this affect my fuel economy? The existing setup has the recirculating thing iam sure. Please share your thoughts. Thank you.

Thanks for that video :) The MK7 GTI has no mass airflow sensor, but manifold absolute pressure instead, right? So a BOV would be OK for that car?

What's more dependable for higher PSI, diverter valve or BOV?
Is it normal to hear a little bit of air being released from the blow off valve while cruising at higher RPMs? If I'm driving on the freeway and am in or near my power band, I can hear a little bit of air coming out before shifting. Also, if I am going wide open throttle from second to third, I don't here any BOV noise until the RPM's drop down and I'm getting on it again. I just bought a modified 135i and am new to the turbo world. Not sure what is normal and not. Car is running great and putting down appropriate dyno numbers.

You don't need one until over psi, not saying if you had 6 psi you don't need it. But I'm saying you must need one over 7psi, most stock turbo or S/C comes with one, it's just some of them don't release boost out faster enough can cause turbo stall.
