    I get the concept of the highly protective cover, even if it adds a lot of weight. Think student backpack. You're on your way to or from class, and you toss the thing in with three, heavy college textbooks. The device needs protection for people who carry it around jumbled-in with other things. Nevertheless, I concede there should probably be a lighter cover, which only protects the screen, for those who don't need the extra armor. However, I think I see where they were coming from.

    That is hilarious about the cover. But I like the color, especially since I just cancelled my R1 Reinkstone pledge!

    Wow, that is a great review (including the other 2 parts)! Seeing what happens when the files are exported is awesome. And I really like the way the handwriting recognition works (locally and in performance); the lines thing helps to have a flow like a continuing text and your example of editing on the text is great that seemed so intuitive. For a first, Kobo does a good job. That needs improvement but it's good. I'm gonna test it in store to feel the pen who seems to be a big point of personal preference. The price is still too high, so hopefully they'll propose a pack without the case in a few months (and in the future a 7 inch one, maybe?).

    That calculator function is so FREAKING cool! I cant believe it handled that complex equation. I wish they made just a E-Ink Calculator. Its extrememly time consuming writing in a calculator but handwritting makes it so fast! I am tempted to get it just as a calculator but its too expensive just for that. Can it handle logarithims?

    • @annikaohm
      @annikaohm 3 года назад +1

      PS do any other devices you know of have the calculation function like this?

    • @MyDeepGuide
      @MyDeepGuide  3 года назад +2

      Nope, no other ePaper devices that I've tested have anything even close to this, and yeah, typing out such complex calculations on a regular calculator is much more tedious, when compared to regular math writing.
      I am going to test out where the limits are, so equations, functions, logs, trigonometry etc, because I am very curious about it. It has unparalleled real world use value.

    Great 3 part series. Stil deciding on the remarkable 2 and this. I had the scribe and it was half ass and half baked so i returned it.
    Question: how much have Kobo addressed these issues that you have listed?

    I had such high hopes that this was the reader and note taker for me. But the writing quirks, and oddities with notes on the desktop side make it a disappointment. Seems like they have a vision but maybe rushed it out the door. I’m not sure Kobo will release feature/fix updates at the rate of Remarkable to address these issues. So I will wait again. I’m so heavily invested in Kindle books that I dream of notetaking on that platform. Any rumors of that coming?

    Great review Voja. Hopefully Kobo will watch this video and resolve the issues you have addressed. One question: does the text conversion only work when writing in english or does it work for any language (and equally well)?

    • @MyDeepGuide
      @MyDeepGuide  3 года назад +1

      I haven't tested other languages yet. It would be a good idea to ask Rakuten Kobo directly for the most up to date info on that feature.

    • @brucebanner4624
      @brucebanner4624 3 года назад +3

      @@MyDeepGuide Thanks, I did just contact Kobo and they said that handwriting conversion is supported for all languages listed on the technical specs at us.kobobooks.com/products/kobo-elipsa. So these languages should be supported: English, French, French (Canada), German, Spanish, Spanish (Mexico), Italian, Catalan, Portuguese, Portuguese (Brazil), Dutch, Danish, Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian, Turkish, Japanese, Traditional Chinese.

    Excellent review. Couple questions (please understand I’m a newbie)
    1 I have the Sony Digital Paper System DPT-S1 with hundreds of handwritten PDF notes. I would love to be able to transfer them to the Elipsa and open them in the “advanced handwriting” app and convert them to text but it doesn’t look possible according to your review. Can you recommend a software program that could do this for me?
    2 I want o create a customized template for a daily diary(dream diary) that would allow me give a Title to the daily entry and then turn selected titles into a clickable table of contents so that I could toggle back and forth to those particular entries. Could you recommend a software program I could use to create such a template? (Also, anyone here willing to create such a template for me, I would be willing to pay)
    My Deep Guild or anyone reading along… please?

    Hi Voja! A very interesting observation concerning strokes update in the D.E.S.T.A. test. I'm wondering, could it be due to the technology chosen - no Wacom layer, but via usual capacitive layer? I wanted to check this hypothesis in Likebook P10 review video, but I didn't find D.E.S.T.A. footage there. So, can you comment on this matter - is my assumption just flatly false or there is some grain of a reason?

    • @MyDeepGuide
      @MyDeepGuide  3 года назад +1

      No, it's not the case, since Quirklogic Papyr also uses an active stylus and has no Wacom layer, and there you don't have that kind of behavior. Their chunks are simply too big.

    • @nortrom94
      @nortrom94 3 года назад

      @@MyDeepGuide Thanks for your reply! For whatever reason I was dead sure Quirklogic has a Wacom layer.

    I've wanted a 10" or proper hard back book sized reader for a while. The notes side is disappointing but I prefer my fountain pens and paper anyway. I have an Aura One so this seems a logical choice but as a reader, would P10 be a better fit?

    • @MyDeepGuide

    Can you chuck a different nib in? So long as you are using the same pen it should work right? Such as the hp felt nib

    • @MyDeepGuide
      @MyDeepGuide  3 года назад +3

      If you check the Pen chapter in the part 1, you'll see that unfortunately that's not possible, they Are using a different standard, but I'll test it out to see if it's possible to make it fit somehow.
