  • This is the first gear Vlog that I've decided to film and maybe the last.. Its a tele build that started back in 2011 based around the Bigsby B16. I started the build during a 3 stint at Fender Corp, Originally meant for another project.
Well years later and after a handful of iterations over the years the guitar is finnally up and running, thanks to some help from former Fender master builder Fred Stuart. In the video I wired them out of phase in the middle position, I’ve since changed that, the combo of the humbucker and single was just to harsh.

Finished my B16 Tele. Added a roller between the spring and the bridge. Getting the breakover angle more normal (30ish degrees) helped the guitar immensely.

Bob Wills seems the right choice when building a Tele.

Agreed, although Elden played a strat. One of the first If I’m not mistaken, I think Leo gave it to him in the 50s

@@CamBaldeon Sounds right. Leo did a lot of artist-based R&D back them.

Yeah, I've figured out how to play Bryant's Shuffle and sort Jammin' with Jimmy. Neither as complex as wehat you have goin'.

I’d say they aren’t very far away in terms of complexity, and that intro on Byrants Shuffle is awesome!

Amazing! thanks for sharing. One quick question: did you end up using 250k pots?

Great project! I do have a couple of questions, if you could answer them I'd really appreciate it!
The standard bridge that comes with these is made for a wound 3rd and it doesn't seem you're using one. Have you had any problems or did you modify the "saddle" for the 3rd string to work with an unwound string?
Did you use the bigsby shim? I can't seem to find one in any store... Do you think it would be too much of an angle for a wood shim?
    Thank you!

Hey thanks! In regards to the question about the bridge, yes the Bigsby set came with a bridge molded for more of a wound 3rd set up, and I am using a plain 3rd. However I decided to sand the entire top of the bridge to match my necks 7.25 radius. Its not necessary to do that, but I like the feel of it that way. In doing that I had to re-sand the bridge to a point again, and I roughly sanded the 3rd closer to intonation at that point.
And the aluminum neck shim did not work well for my set up out of the box (thats not to say it wouldn't work for yours) It was to tall for my guitar. If I had the proper belt sander to accurately sand it down to fit I would have done that, instead I attempted to grind it down. It was close but I didn't like it. I ended up using Stewmacs neck shim set and that worked beautifully.

@@soloflightwest Thank you so much for your answer! I think I'll go for it... it's an expensive piece of kit but in the end, there's nothing quite like it. And I do plan on having a different type of Tele, so this would fit the part! Once again, thank you!
