Awesome Video however there's one mistake 3 serious wounds doesn't kill you " When a Character with 3 serious wounds suffers any additional Wound, they are instantly killed "
57:00 you're able to discard the contamination cards on your hand when you pass. The only benefit of not discarding them is that you can take them into account when trying to fend of a surprise attack.
@Justin Nichols That's why I always recommend reading the rulebook instead of 100% trusting a "How To Play" video which isn't produced by the publisher themselves. He's not a professional.
Just backed the KS lockdown and could never get a copy of this game, now I shall have it lol, I’ve seen a few so so instructional video ‘attempts’ but this by far is brilliant, thanks for the time you put into this, I am a subscriber to the channel and totally love what you do. Great explanation with just enough references to the mechanics of how things work, all the best and stay safe out there
At 30:55 one error I could find according to the book is about the Danger symbol either on the die or the explore token: ".. place a noise marker in each corridor connected to that room WITHOUT a noise marker already placed (counting technical corridors if there is an entrance in the room" In the video I got the impression that the danger symbol meant placing a symbol in all corridors, therefore if one of them would have a token from before an encounter would take place.
One small error. (I actually considerd doing it the way you explained in the video instead XD ) Players take damage from fire when they end their turn in a room with fire. So if you do your first 2 actions and end in a room with fire you take one light wound then when it comes back to you and you do more actions or pass and end your turn in the same room or other room with fire you take one more light wound. Only aliens take damage from fire during the "fire damage step"
And at the end of your turn you can discard(after you have passed) any number of cards from your hand. You can choose to discard the contamination cards then. You cant use them to pay for actions but they do count anytime anything refers to "cards in hand" like suprise attacks from aliens(ooh sorry intruder...) for instance.
25:20 I want to double check this because i know i did this wrong in my first playthrough. There is not a max 2 rounds cap in the player phase. If smb wished to sprint to to a room, this should result in burning 1 card at a time more movement, allowing that player to reach a 3rd round where he can either move into 1 more room and pass (if only 5 cards in hand), or play the final card in hand if it does not have an additional cost. I played with only 1 round for the players :/
You are right. Players even could perform a 6th action IF they started their turn in the Cabins= You draw a 6th action card + Only if you don't have contamination cards in hand + Only if you only perform actions for the cost of 1... So this means that players who do this don't pass in the thirth round. They go to a fourth round and pass then...
Stumbled upon your video accidentally, was suggested while watching Rolling Solo. Have to say I like how clearly and "normally" you explain things. Even though I'm not really into board games (only got a few) I still subbed :) Keep up the good work!
Don't know if I'm misunderstanding it in the video but are you saying those contamination cards stay in your hand until you remove them with surgery/rest/items? Because on page 10 in the manual under player rounds it says "When a player passes, they may discard any number of cards from their hand to their Discard". Couldn't I get rid of them that way and hope I draw none contamination cards next turn after I pass?
You can also remove contamination via green item (alcohol or sth alike). Rest action removes them only from hand, and surgery removes them from the whole deck.
What is the barely minimum you have to teach a new player so he/she can discover things as they play? I wonder how long that would take This is an absolutely sensational game, uber-congratulations to the team!!!!!
Hi, thanks for the video. It's very awesome. i have 1 question that bothering me. In the rulebook about contamination cards, it said when you pass you can discards any card you want. In your video, when you finish your turn you are stuck with your contamination card even for the next round. My question is ideally, you play 2 round and then you only have 1 cards in hand so you can do 1 action, and then pass, but if you have let's say 3 Contamination cards in hand, you play the 2 **normal** cards in hand then the next round you dont have a choice to pass so that mean you discards the contamination cards in your hand for the next round? you dont keep them?
There is not a limit of just four actions or just two "player rounds". You can continue your rounds with a max of 2 actions in each round for as long as you have action cards. For example; round 1: you move and search. Round 2: search and move again. Round 3: eat synthetic food (draw 2 new action cards) and move(into combat). Round 4: Use "Adrenalin" to perform Shoot action on Intruder and draw 1 action card, then Escape Move using your last card. So in this example you actually do 8 actions over 4 "player turns". Of course you will have no cards for protection during the Event Phase..but thats another story.
Another rule I saw that was wrong, is that you can have 3 Serious wounds, you dont die till you take a Light and/or Serious wound after you already have 3 Serious Wounds.
Correct - any wound, light or serious, if you have 3 serious wounds will kill you. And some cards kill you outright if you have 2 serious wounds, but in that case its written on the card. (It's also said in the video that 3 light wounds would result in 1 serious wound and then 1 light wound. this is also incorrect as the 3rd light wound cause the one serious wound:)
just i didnt get 1 thing. please make it clear. first : if we have lets say 2 cards left which are not contaminated, should we keep them or discard them and get 5 new cards? Other than that it was a perfect rule explain video. i understood that i was playing wrong with a lot of ways. thanks!!!
Hi Rodina! Thanks for the kind words! To answer your question; After a player passes in the player phase they may choose to discard any number of cards that are left in their hand. This means that they might go into the Event phase with no cards at all! They will draw back up to 5 first thing at the beginning of the next Player Phase. As you point out a player might, very reasonably, want to discard a contamination card from their hard as it can't be used for actions! That player must also consider that if the they trigger an encounter during the Bag Development step of the Event Phase the contamination card could be the difference between suffering and avoiding a surprise attack! Additionally they might want to hang onto a contamination card in case they draw their Rest card (which all characters have). Either way it's a tough decision to make; outside of these scenarios I have highlighted that contamination card is useless! Of course a player may also just want to discard cards from their hand when they pass because they are hoping to draw a specific card from their deck that they really need! Happy gaming!
@@ReadySteadyPlay Awww. thats mean if we keep theese x numbered cards and discard y cards just before the intruder phase, we will equal our held cards to 5 cards and start in the begining of the player phase without discarding x cards which we held. there is no discard phase in the end of intruder phase. aaah so confusing :D hope that i got it. u have a new subscriber thanks !!
Hi Robina! Sounds like you’ve understood correctly; the player draws until they have five cards in hand at the beginning of the player phase (first thing after resolving the event phase). I find it helps to remember that having cards in hand during the Event Phase is useful, so therefore the game makes you decide whether to discard first in order to make it a more difficult decision!

No, this refers to a special room tile named "room covered with slime", see page 25. The rooms "cover with slime" and "nest" don't feature numbers of items on it.
What does the '0' cost on the action cards mean. It cost zero actions, but discard? Or is it discard zero additional cards. Same question for the '2' does that card cost two actions to discard. Or do you discard it and an additional 2 cards?
When you play any card/item/room action you also discard the amout of cards on the "action cost symbol" so it it says 1 you discard 1 additional card from your hand to do that action. So if it says 0 you discard no additional card.

The room number is printed on the board itself rather than the room tiles. This threw me in my first game too. I dont remember reading it in the manual at all. Had to turn to bgg. Interesting game. I think it’d be easier to earn degrees in engineering, astrophysics, and training to be an astronaut, so that you could build and launch this spaceship than it is to learn this game.
Does somebody know what happens if a player has no cards left? It would mean that that player couldn't do any actions, right? Do you get a set amount of card after you survived a round?
@@GillOfTheNorth Thanks. I think we'll stick with what we've been doing as a house rule. We've played both ways now don't see that ot changes the game in any serious way. Blind draws make the game tedious. Everyone waits around to draw search cards, or whatever card they're looking for, which can be frustrating.
I wouldn't call a fairly minor and common misreading of the rules (three serious wounds doesn't kill you, but *any* additional wound beyond that threshold *does*) constitutes 'totally misunderstanding' them.
You can if you are playing the advanced/invader board, first player to die can take on the role of Invader, there are also rules around two players dieing at the same turn since only one player can play as the invader
You made a mistake with the player rounds. Starting with the first player, everyone takes 2 actions. Once back to the first player, each player continues taking 2 actions until every player has passed. So they might go 2 rounds, they might go 5. Eventually players will run out of cards so it won't go around to many times. But it doesn't stop immediately after 2 rounds. I noticed you also made this same mistake the entire time throughout your playthrough.
How would this work while I play single player campaign. I'm mid play thru and so far I have only done 2 actions, assumed my round was done and would move into event ll. If I'm playing by myself can I continue to take actions until I run out of cards or decide to pass?!?
would still be a maximum of 3 rounds in most circumstances though. You have the option of only doing 1 action which could potentially use as little as 1 card. But if you don't use your full 2 actions on your turn, you must do the 1 action you picked and then pass for the rest of the round. Once you pass you can't un-pass so you have effectively ended your turn. If you do use both actions, at minimum you will be using 1 card per action so you would spend 2 cards on turn 1 then 2 more on turn 2 and be left with a single card on turn 3 thus ending the player round after you use it.
Awesome Video however there's one mistake
3 serious wounds doesn't kill you
" When a Character with 3 serious wounds suffers any additional Wound, they are instantly killed "

Dude. Where's your accent from? Haha. Been bugging me for ages trying to think. Ta
Wondering why there is 1 dislike. Maybe I just see the hitting the dislike button as actually having something against the video. Confusing

Too be fair, it's badically making the exact same video as he did before. It would, naturally, be less exciting.
