- Here is "Sominex / Suppertime II" and the reprise of "Somewhere That's Green" as performed by the cast of the July 1st performance of Encores! Off-Center's 2015 concert production of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken's "Little Shop of Horrors." This video features Eddie Cooper as Audrey II, Jake Gyllenhaal as Seymour Krelborn, and Ellen Greene as Audrey.
This concert production was directed by Dick Scanlan, choreographed by Patricia Wilcox, and featured musical direction by Chris Fenwick.
This video is a combination of three separate recordings. Due to the recent nature of this production, only a selection of songs and clips will be uploaded.
I love how this scene goes from being kinda funny to devastatingly heartbreaking. I love writing that meshes the two so well together without it feeling jarring or out of place.
30+ years later and she's still knocking Audrey out of the park. Much respect for Ellen Greene.
she is really good but I disagree. I feel her voice dropped to an alto so she didn't sound like her Audrey from the movies. I feel like she is a little too old.
+Aaron “A-A-Ronnerz7” Wachs don't say old!
What are you talking about? She *IS* Audrey.
Nice Aviator sunglasses... :P
Every time I see this scene or hear the Somewhere That's Green Reprise I burst into tears!
Me too
LEGEND. "which should be very shortly" got applause in the middle of the scene!! i love her so much
All jokes aside she's 64 and looks great.
Seriously? 👀
@@maximusw01 Yea👌
Facts. I was like confused thought this young lady is doing a killer Ellen greene
Ellen Greene is literally so freakin beautiful in every single way!!!
OMG, she is that old and she's still killing it
Wow, Eddie Cooper did so so well!! I like the bathrobe and the swivel chair! XD (also, obviously the legendary Ellen Greene!) Bravo!!!
I just noticed how Seymour walks right past Twoey when he's carrying Audrey and Twoey is like, "um?? what are you doing I'm right here"
AlwaysGonnaSing its the way she gets 'eaten' due to the fact theres no puppet to eat her
God, she's incredible.
AUDREY: Something's very wrong here.
ME: You're right, Audrey. I don't recall Twoey transforming from an adorable little man-eating plant into a black guy in a green fur coat.
Kalvin Koskela I’m laughing so hard 😂😂😂
It's an Encore production, they have limited time and budget, little rehersal time, and only did it for two nights. Works for me.
I remember seeing the magnificent Ellen Green in Little Shoppe at The Orpheum 1982!! THE BEST SHOW and most entertaining show I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing!! I still get chills from the ending song… I recall the plants falling from the ceilings at the end! ❤❤
With all due respect to Ellen, she really knows how to fade away and then play dead.
Audrey: Something's very wrong here.
Me: Noooooo shit, Sherlock.
I find it funny that Seymour's like, "Hey, Audrey II! Eat my girlfriend that just died!" Then he walks offstage and returns without her xD
I NEED THAT FUR COAT!!!
Ellen still wearing her off broadway costumes
Someone tell me who Ellen sold her soul too as I would like to make an arrangement. She looks exactly like she did in the original film. When I saw her in "Pushing Up Daisies" I was "Ellen is that you" and then was so surprised to find out it was:-)
In the mooted remake they should use her to play Audrey and not look for another actress to play the part.
With all due respect, one person can't play a role forever. There comes a time when someone else has to play Audrey.
@@tysargent9647 When someone starts a sentence like that they mean the opposite from my experience.
What you say is true, however so far I have not seen anyone beat her on the Audrey front.
ALW wrote Cristines part in Phantom specifically for Sarah Brightman, his wife of the time, however as much as I loved the original I have seen a number of ladies perform the part as well as SB did.
Watch the original musical film, Ellen was not the one they wanted playing Audrey at the time, and ten look at her in this performance and not the differences.
However that is not always a good thing, especially if people are not willing to accept the change. I mentioned "Pushing Up Daisies" but she was also in "Heros" as Silars mum. I recognised her as the actress, I only used "Audrey" s an in joke with my friends.
Great acters
0:39 awww that’s cute. 😍
It would be even cuter if she was calling out your, my and everyone else watchings name. :-)
Yikes...having the plant as just a guy in a costume really ramps up the rapey subtext of the attack on Audrey. "Relax... it'll be easier!" yeesh
lmao at "rapey" subtext
I think it was just you and the odd few who thought of a rapey subtext
Cody Samuel Fox yikes. Here’s a man who over thinks things.
I thought the scenes with Twoey in the movie were weirdly sexual, especially when Twoey lifted up Audrey's dress.
Oggie boogie is inspired by twoey 😱
Why is the plant a human ?
GamingMoose21 It was a concert performance so the budget was lower. Plus, they couldn't bring back many props since the show has been closed for quite some time.
For what I understand This was a special 2 night only thing , wouldn’t make sense to make a puppet just for that....
Audrey 2 like put her to bed 5:18
Why’s everyone laughing at Audrey’s death?
