Ellen Greene's wiping away tears at the end and I'm like, yeah, I feel you Ellen.
She felt that last note. :3
An amazing moment, because it fits in character as Audrey but also were I Ellen I would 1000% be crying going back to an iconic role like that. The rush of emotion it must have brought back to perform that song live again with a full cast and band must have been something else.
She later said it was very emotional because she knew it was the last time she would perform Little Shop of Horrors on stage
🤧🤧
I can't believe she's still doing it.
She aged *very* well.
Ellen Greene is timeless!
Audrey not seems to become oder in last 30 years. Her singing voice seems to be a bit deeper than in movie, but I assume it been recorded in studio. Live singing - wow. Audrey - for ever.
Ellen has such a a powerful voice . Audry is meek and shy , But she plays it awesomely .
Audrey isn’t meek and shy. She’s battered and destroyed. She isn’t a wallflower. She’s a woman with a past who has been around the block
2023 and still rocking this. Ellen green is a GODDESS! 😮😢
Does Ellen Green have a portrait in an attic somewhere, because she looks exactly the same!
+NerdyFemme Not quite...If you look closely, you can see the intervening 33 going on 34 (stage play) and 29 going on 30 (movie) years, but she looks impressive nonetheless :-)
+NerdyFemme liked for the dorian gray reference
No picture in the attic, but she is contractually obligated to stay 35 forever
It's the blood. Remember she is the ORIGINAL Audrey!
Sick reference. Sucker for gothic horror
they got Jake Gyllenhaal as Seymour that's great but I wish Rick could have come out and did something like this too.
+KHWendy28 What's special about Ellen Greene though is that not only did she play Audrey in the movie version, she originated the role Off-Broadway in 1982. Moranis didn't play Seymour in the original show, it was Lee Wilkof. Although I agree, would have been pretty cool to see Rick here too.
Matt Babineau It would have been a nice see Rick I always think of the movie a sometimes forget there's a stage play.
Rick somehow gave Seymour this sense of pathos that never comes across on the stage, perhaps it being a film makes it more personal with closeups.
However, seeing Jake do this is a delight.
@@pleaserewind295 Rick made Seymour look less selfish and prone to the frenzy that had come to the people of Skid Row with Audrey II. Rick was likeable and seemed a little more ignorant and a victim of this madness, something he didn't encourage, like in the show, but something he couldn't escape and couldn't stop.
But that doesn't change the fact that Lee Wilkof was an amazing Seymour vocally
I would have loved Rick doing something like this. But sadly he doesn’t really do much films or television anymore since his wife passed. He does voice over work, but I would love to see him in a comedic role again. If they ever decide to remake LSOH wouldn’t mind seeing Gyllenhaal portray Seymour. Just my opinion.
Ellen still slays
Ellen Greene is utter beauty and talent! 64?! WOW she IS Audrey! always makes me tear up
I almost didn't watch, as I was looking for the original,, but then that one Lady looked so much like Ellen Greene, I thought I'd give it a shot,,, then in less than a minute, I'm like,,, That IS Ellen Greene!!! Wow!!!😍
Ellen Greene... Still got it - what pipes! Awesome voice... I love how as she's moving offstage at the end, quickly brushing away a tear, Homeless Guy just shuffles off... Nicely played, sir!
There is no better Audrey than Ellen Greene ♡
I grew up on the movie. This gave me chills from the moment Ellen Greene started singing…
I don't get why people are laughing... For me it's one of the saddest songs ever!
Depends on the mood I'm in...sometimes I'm like "haha I live downtown" and sometimes I'm like "....so I live, downtown...."
@callmecatalyst 1) Howard Ashman wrote the lyrics, give him credit too
2) Alan Menken didn't write for Lion King
why
Its a metaphor, relatable like a meme thats why its funny.
I was annoyed that people were laughing!!!!!!!
I LOVE the Little Shop score. This was my favorite number because it's Seymour's first real singing part in Act I and when I played Seymour in high school, Skid Row was when my voice got really warmed up (way better than any vocal warmup). Grow for Me and Sudenly Seymour were easier to belt out because of the final note in this.
*sing it child.*
Damn I never expected Jake to sound so good. If there is an updated film of this then they need to cast him as Seymour.
Originally Ellen wasn't the one they wanted to play Audrey in the film they wanted Cyndi Lauper to play her, but she couldn't so Ellen was a fall back, and thank god they had to do that. No one can play Audrey as well as she did.
Yeh I get they why wanted cyndi for the role because let’s face it, in the mid 80s she was popular and well known, a good way to get people in the theatre to see the movie as with the other cast members (you had a who’s who of top comedic actors of the 1980s) but yeah I can’t imagine anyone other than Ellen as Audrey
I understand why too, but as both of us say anyone but Ellen as Audrey just seems wrong.
I wonder how many of those 80s ones are still safe to like. :-)
Ellen Greene is the perfect Audrey, no question. But I have to admit I'm a little curious about how Cyndi Lauper's portrayal would've gone. :)
I am not. Singers in the pop music sense don't always translate to good actors or actresses in musicals. The same applies the other way round those that are great in musicals doesn't mean they can pull it off for the "chart" listening public. Sometimes never the twain shall meet.
When they try and "die" in the other area it can destroy their career, and that would have been a terrible shame.
Obviously there are exceptions to this but from my experience I could count them on one hand even after over 40 years.
@@Dermacrosis yea like Ariana's portrayal of Penny Pingleton in Hairspray. She drag those Ariana traits in the character.
I love how Ellen was all for the theater hands at the end
Marva Hicks voice is just sicking. The best urchins since the movie.
Wow, Ellen still has it. These clips have been very fun to watch.
Oh, Ellen Greene. This is so, so amazing. 30 years after the movie and she still looks and sounds like a million bucks! Chills!!
Ellen Greene is just the best, still got it! Amazing voice!
Saw this as a little girl at the movies been a huge fan since she looks the same!!! She is a Queen
OMG Jake Gyllenhaal also sings! And THE Audrey I saw in the movie is exactly as she was 30 years ago! She is... Amazing!
Sure Jake sings: He's an actor!
I love this song. Everyone did a great job. Ellen, though, is STILL INCREDIBLE! I can't hit those notes on a good day, but here she is, keeping it real. Can you imagine getting to do this on stage with Ellen Greene? Crazy.
I honestly really like his acting. He looks quite awkward and defeated, which suits the character perfectly.
Amazing!!! OMG..It would be a dream come true to see that performance live..sadly I cant. But wow my respect,..Break a leg!
Ellen is just incredible.
i just wish the jake shaved for this. seymour is supposed to be scrawny not brawny.
He was filming Everest at the time, couldn't shave.
Let him be a snackkkk
I 👏 support 👏 lumberjack 👏 Seymour 👏
Ellen Greene is so fabulous! She still has a rockin' voice!
She deserves so much more
Jake is trying to be a geeky guy but you can tell it's a hunk in disguise, regardless it's a good singing practice for him.
You saw how Christopher Reeve portrayed both Clark Kent & Superman.
We did this musical my senior year of high school. It was so much fun.
Chrystal, Ronette and Chiffon here are the ORIGINAL RADIO from Caroline or Change!!!!!! LOVE THEM!!!!!!!
Ill never ever ever get tired of this song.
Its been stuck in my head on loop for 2 weeks, I love it but dear god its a loop of the chorus only and after 5000 times Im repeating "omg I gotta get off skid roe too"
@@persephonewolf oh yes my friend. You and I share the same hell. I once failed a test because a loop of a song was stuck in my head. And skid row also stayed in my head for over a week.
There are a handful of songs I love that I think twice about listening to because of this reason.
This was freakin AMAZING! OMG, the notes and ranges, I got goosebumps everytime I replayed it
I still love you Ellen!
Can't love this version more. Thank you for sharing.
Such a fun song to sing i live this show so much saw the movie in the theater
Jake Gyllenhaal is a fine actor, but how can you have someone as big and strong as him play Seymour?
Wow what a performance from everyone 👏🏼👏🏼❤️❤️❤️
Wait. That’s the same Audrey from the 80s!!!!!???????
Yep
WOW. Ellen Greene looks GREAT! 👏
I well up every time that I hear this song. Love this.
Suddenly Seymour and Somewhere That's Green are the well up songs for me.
Beautiful!
Ellen Greene,s Voice is Awesome God Bless her & the Cast.
Wow Ellen Greene still looks great!
Show rocked Ellen Greene Amazing even in movie she captured and became all that was Ellen Greene best performances I’ve ever seen!!!!! Cast and crew were both great
I didn’t know Jake could sing! Ellen is why I’m here though. God I love her.
Genuine question. Why is this sooo much lower than the original key? Was this a special performance or a whole production? I wonder which singer they lowered it for…
is this an origin story for Mysterio?
They should have had Rick moranis
Why? I don't think Rick M. does a whole lot of stage work, and Jake Gyllenhaal is probably much more of a draw for this. I'll be glad to see him in more musicals (hopefully sometime in an original one).
Moranis is essentially retired from acting. In 1997, several years after the death of his wife from cancer, he took a hiatus from acting to care for his two children. He didn't miss it, and hasn't done very little since then, mostly voice work.
awesome
Nobody can portray Audrey like Ellen Greene.
like great great movie Little Shop of Horrors
Ellen Greene is absolutely amazing.
Jake sings so good like I had no idea
OMG Jake has a voice
I miss Marva Hicks. She was so underrated
Ellen's still got it. :3
ELLEN GREEN HENNY YAAAAS
I love jake even more because he sings!!!!!! Nah! I don't care if he could sing or not! He is Ruby!!!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🙏🙏🙏🌹🌹🌹🙏🌹🌹
Was this seriously filmed in 2015? She looks exactly the same as she did in the movie made in the 80s
Tracy, Marva, and Ramona's harmonies rivaled that of the film's; they were superb! 'Better than any stage version I could find on here.
Ellen Greene. Legend.
Who did Ellen sell her soul to? I want his number. Damn she hasn't aged. I aged worse in the short time of puberty then she has in the decades between the film and this.
I dont care what Taylor Swift says, this Jake Gyllenhaal performance is gold
uau uau uau
I wish they had some type of replacement for 'Bertice Reading' at the beginning. I think it would make it that much better
2:02 - i can't believe MCU's Mysterio singing :O
Wow Ellen Greene returned as Audrey in this Little Shop Of Horrors play
He is a Ruby!!!!
Donnie Darko can really sing, can't he?
This is hot wow amazing
Well goddamn you got movie Audrey? My attention is now undivided. Jake who?
She was also Audrey in the Broadway play before the movie was made. She is the definitive Audrey.
Yep, that's how you do it.
WAIT A DAMN MINUTE- IS THAT JAKE
about hakf way through this i just shouted WAUT THATS JAKE FUCKING GYLENAHALL
They're moving me
That cant be Ellen Greene!
ahhhhhh... good job but really don't like the song is in a different key. Not to say that they're doing a bad job because they sound real good. BbM sounds better though.
Wah,what can't jake do!? :)
SSSAANG IT!
I'll marry her anytime she wants. So much talent AND so beautiful.
So they couldnt get Pam & Gina for a reunion??
I wish Rick was in this to sing his part.
Ellen Green looks and sounds amazing still! Jake Hyllenhaal sounds great but is far too buff to play Seymour.
Did you know Cindy Lauper was offered the role of Audrey in the movie but she turned it down.
Jake Gyllenhaal!!!
1:35
Can’t believe she wasn’t first choice, then they came to their senses
They didn't come to their senses. Cyndi wasn't available so they fell back on Ellen.
Thankfully is what I say to that as Ellen really gave that character multiple layers.
I kept looking like that lady is good looks like the original actress lol. 😅
NippysGuard it is!!!
Legal mas o original imbatível inclusive rik moranes e a outraqueem sei nome mas shouuuu ooooo
I can't just dont believe Jake as a loser nerd, he is too damn gorgeus
Who says a nerd can't be gorgeous? Your prejudices are yours but I find nerds very hot myself. Though you can blame my first boyfriend he was a skinny Whovian nerd but boy did I think he was hot.
@@Dermacrosis I believe you, but you are the 0.1% than think nerd are hot, so my point still has validation.
99.9% of stats on line are made up :-D
Nerd and loser are not the same thing after all :-D
Is this the broadway cast?
Looks like a mix. Ellen was in the movie version
She was in the original stage cast.
HERCULES?
I would love it if the real cast of little shop of horrors did a musical or even just steve ellen and rick did it I would still be happy
That’s actually Ellen Greene
That has to be a joke I’m Not in on.
foster
Gyllenhaal has a great voice, but I don't agree with some of his choices for emphasis.
