The great pairing of Phil Hartman and Jan Hooks---both gone before their time.
Conan o'Brien and Bob Odenkirk wrote this sketch.
I miss these days of SNL. Sad Phil and Jan are gone.
Agreed. Phil Hartman is a underrated classic imo. His Simpsons work alone earned him posthumous accolades imo.
The sign in the background was for a drive in that actually existed in the Bronx until the early-mid 80s.
This was written by Conan O'Brien and Greg Daniels
Phil Hartman is so suave :-)
"Nobody is here to watch the movie".... and it's Iron Eagle 2...
Yap.. nobody was there to watch a movie...
I haven't seen this skit since I was in the 6th grade .
Actually sought it out it was so funny to me then.
Phil and Jan are so terrific in this skit. Phil is so suave and Jan is totally smitten. John plays the awkward loser role to a T and that "Shut up, just Shut up OK? Just SHUT... UP! "line kills me every time.
This was a good show in the 80,s beauty and the beast
This isn't really a parody of 'Beaty & the Beast' it's a parody of this real life urge some women have.....this need to fix up their best friend with their boyfriend's best friend, sometimes a complete loser. This was done a couple of times to me. And in fairness there's probably a guy version of this too.
I love how even Jon and Phil’s personalities are different here: Vincent is the romantic with the smooth voice and barthelemew is the sweet typical guy (I feel bad for almost saying bum)
Well, he lives in a sewer, so it's not that much of a stretch. The other one lives below the sewers, which is better.
I've been looking for that "shut up, just shut up" clip for ages. Thanks for posting. 👍
This whole season was epic. Watch the Charleston Heston ep the whole thing is Gold.
Plus the Stallone with Norm McDonald skit was Gold.
Seriously this was the best SNL cast of all time and that's saying alot because the original cast was epic but had this cast never happened then SNLS would be the same as SCTV , Mad TV ,and In Living Color and just great skit show that time forgot
Me too!
@@Joker-qr5seNorm macdonald wasn't on this season
I've been looking for this! Thanks!
In which Phil Hartman enjoys a nice romantic evening with the REAL love of his life.
Phil is so funny even to the way he moves all melancholy and heroic
Hartman, Hooks, & Lovitz, along with Carvey & Nealon spoiled me because all of a sudden after they & the ones they worked with left, I couldn’t watch SNL without noticing the cue card reading
Oh my gosh 33 years ago 87 baby
Sheesh I feel really . 78 baby
"How much do I owe you."
Phil and John as the Mutants?
Yes. (I probably don't need to say this, but Jon's in the front, Phil's in the back.)
Who's on the date with Lovitz? I know Hooks is with Hartman
Demi Moore?
lol (they didn't have the term 'gaslighting' just 2 decades ago.)
The term originated with the 1938 British play Gaslight that was later made into two different films during the 40s. It's not a new term at all.
This wasn't really a case of gas lighting. It was a woman making the weakest possible excuses to ditch a guy that she isn't into. And it's hard to blame her, because her friends were making an awkward situation even worse by pressuring them to get physical, like they were doing, when sh didn't want to. Otherwise, she could have just eaten the nachos and finished watching the movie before saying something like" hey, it was fun, but I just don't feel like we would work as a couple."
It would've been better a crossover-parody with Terminator.
