Seen many of such videos, and it looks to me Korea has the weirdest badminton courts. No tram lines and so close they are literally sharing boundaries.
@@KeithHiew he's not kidding, it is the truth, land is stupid expensive in korea, and those court are for doubles only. as it doesn't have the single's line
In general, the speed of the smash depends on the speed of the racket head. Higher the racket-head speed, faster is the smash. It's upto the player how he/she can generate that racket-head speed, using either only the wrist or full body. Wrist smash has unique advantages: it is quick (less loading time), it can generate great angles, etc. However, a wrist smash is difficult to execute when heavy rackets are used. Also, there is a chance of writst injury. In that case, full body smash is advised. (one should have to also consider the string bed, i.e., the type of string used, and tension applied). There is no straight answer, since our body is like a machine, all parts (legs, torso, shoulder, elbow, wrist, fingers, etc.) are working in harmony to generate power. One thing is for sure though that full body smash, especially full body jump smash, is awesome to look at.
Thanks for this. It does hurt the wrist since the force doesn't discipate but gets trapped in the wrist. This reinforces my decision to use flick smashes sparingly and with minimal power only. It is still crazy how much force he can generate with his wrist and not getting injured.
@@jpac1990 Well, people are built differently :p. However, one can train specifically for the wrist smash by doing wrist-tendon strengthening, wrist flexibility, etc.
This facility seems like it uses the bare minimum for space. It looks like the ceiling isnt too high, and it looks like it even share the doubles lines with the court next to it and the distance from the back of the wall and line look really close. Does this set up really work?
hey. just want to let you know that i'm glad that you're still uploading videos. haven't watched in a long time, now i have a lot of free time. thank you for your hard work. btw do they represent Korea?
As a beginner I used my wrist to smash... And when i followed the RUclips tutorial about smashing using all my body, I'm not satisfied on the speed... But now I'm using both... It depends on the situation...
I don’t believe so, it depends but smashing with only wrist puts more strain on the wrist where If u use the whole body the muscles work together to help u not overwork
Maybe it could be because similar to spiking in volleyball, the wrist snap is very important in smashing in badminton. So maybe having a good wrists snap is equivalent or better than someone that smash with the whole body without using his/her wrists as wrist snap provide the overall downward movement of the shuttlecork . But nonetheless combining wrists snap and body would be the best.
For me, smashing with full body will generate more power but takes more time to prepare thus give enemies time to reposition. smashing using wrist only takes less time and still generates good power so its less powerfull but more efficient.

Land is expensive so they want to maximize more court rather than wide space between court.
@@mvplovers24 sounds a little far fetched to me. Unless you’re being sarcastic of course.

The best example of this kinds of smash is on the gold medal match in Rio 2016 mens doubles, FHF and GOH.

stick smash is lethal if you do it well and precise. Goh V Shem is perfect example

nice info brother, i like it 👍👍
Nice explanation, strong wrist smash definitely higher chance in causing injury.

Wrist smash=Higher Acceleration
Body Smash=Higher Velocity
those courts are so close to each other i would feel cringe playing in one of those

is smashing with the arm/wrist better than body? it feels like it is when I test it but I would LOVE to have some scientific literature on this.
