Ernie ball are my favorite strings. Played numerous strings. Anyways, i have a gibson les paul with etune autotuners I'm replacing with locking tuners. Which would definitely need drilling. This just saved me the time of drilling. I'm definitely getting these.
A string Butler is the only and best thing that will fix tuning problems on any Gibson guitar. It pulls the strings straight off the nut and fixes the faulty design of the Gibson headstocks!!!
Those tuners look so much user friendly than the rotomatics which give me so headache at every string change that I was tempted to put back the original non locking tuners.
Nice work as always! Hipshot makes some quality stuff, I've been eyeing the 6 inline locking tuners for my Tele. A concern with using gorilla glue, is that it expands as a foam to some degree. It can leave yellowish crude to be cleaned up. Seems like it turned out fine though, as you probably used it sparingly.
It's funny that you say that, because my gf IMMEDIATELY said that when I told her. She said that the stuff I used is more like super glue? But yeah when she told me that I was like 😮😳 And yes, twas used sparingly
Funny enough I say the same thing about D’addario strings. 😂😂😂 I don’t even play Ernie Ball or D’addario strings, I play Elixir Nanoweb strings. Although, I’ve thought about trying the Optiweb set. 🤔
Thanks for the vid! These are on sale at musician's friend if anyone needs a set. Bought myself a set for a crappy 'ol epiphone les paul that I just bought. I love putting locking tuners on a project guitar as it makes any further modifications ten times easier as you don't have to dick around with changing strings.
D'Addario string absolutely hate me. I do not know what I ever did to them, but they have had it in for me ever since: won't stay in tune for anything, and sound, as you say, like crap, just to show me. Thanks for the guide, though. I'm about to do the same with my Epi Les Paul.
Huh. Weird about that with Ernie Ball. I've had nothing but great success with them. Though I have no preference. My SG 70s Tribute gets Super Slinky. My Wildkat has had EB Cobalt, D'Addario Pro Steels, regular Nickel and now DR Pure Blues. I like all of them, but I don't feel good putting anything but EB Super Slinky on my SG.
Good video, I don't mind the music in the background. Have you tried D'Adarrio locking tuners? BTW, I agree with you on the strings. I'm D'Adarrio all the way, especially the NYXL variety.
Cant fucjing put the string through the posts idk how to move the post from being blocked on the inside. Usually tuning peg posts have a hole in them but its a hole thats blocked by a cylinder help!!!
Hey bro do u know what the heck it means on the website with the options for bass side staggered or non staggered or treble side staggered or non staggered does that really matter I’m literally just looking for tuners for my explorer to drop in so I don’t know if staggered matters or not
Anyone know if the staggered version of these tuners will line up with the peg holes on Kramer Baretta? I got one of the new ones and the tuning machines and string tree that come stock are meh. I'd like to be rid of both. Thanks for any info :)
The staggered sets go from smallest to largest: 19mm,20mm, and 21mm. Remember that once the washer and nut is on they add about 3.5mm depending on washer size.
Just curious why you didn't use Kluson locking tuners. They have the locking feature but keep the vintage look and mounting screw pattern. That said, I use the Hipshots on my Jacksons.
I just installed these but when I went to restring it I got super confused. The hole you thread the string to has a metal post inside it so I can't get the string in. Anyone know what did I did wrong?
Just letting you know that the the music playing over your talking is a real disstraction and just makes it really hard to concentrate on what you are saying, I think when you are talking you need to ditch the music, but otherwise your video is Awesome. 👍🙂👍

Chrome pickup covers : Make sure neck and bridge match then add silicone inside and solder well !

I have an Epiphone SG. The machines on mine have diagonal screws. Will it work for me?
Game changer for sure... heavy bottom slinky’s never let me down or power slinky’s are serious
I have this same set that is going on my new '61 SG when I put a Bigsby B5 / Vibramate / roller bridge on it. ROCK ON!
I just got my hip shot locking tuners today they are amazing and easy to install I can’t wait to install them on my Schechter next time
These are awesome all there products are great took like 4 minutes to install

Good tuners except for the lock pins will get stuck' have to give them a couple of wacks to get them unstuck even after oiling them.
Are the hipshot tuner lighter than the klusons? Will it reduce the head-heaviness? Greetings from Germany - Axel
Heavier. But not a ton

Elixers are real, real nice.
I've recently started using NYXL and I don't think I can go back lol 😅
Paradigm, xts are my favorite. Though i can make a regular set of dad exl110s last 3 months without corrosion
You just saved my life. Thank you!

Substantially!!

Use DuPont Teflon Non-Stick Dry-Film Lubricant in your nut slots!
Pretty cool video, new sub :)

Loosen up the wheel at the bottom. That's what locks the string into place...
Nice vid! Did the tuning get better? I've seen a thing called String Butler, have you tried it? Thank you.
Tuning got WAY BETTER
I haven't tried the string butler, but after looking it up? It seems really interesting
@@SloppyJoes_ShredShack I'm glad to hear that. I have an SG Standard and I'm currently suffering with the tuning. Cheers!
@@SloppyJoes_ShredShack I might try both, the butler and locking tuners. Thanks for the vid.

These will work for my LTDEC 1000 3 x 3 headstock correct ?
Yes

Light

I would say price.
This guy somehow made swapping tuners look difficult... And I'm guessing if Ernie Ball offered him some strings, he'd take them.......
Hard pass bucko. Ernie ball strings are trash.

You have to adjust the bottom post to move the metal post
Ernie Balls work where they need to, and they’re easy to find. DAddario is great, but Ernie Ball is good enough for metal.
is it chocolate or rubbed vintage burst?
Chocolate, I believe

Many people misunderstand locking tuners they think they never have to tune guitar
I have no clue why people think that.
