This is incredible! You certainly have an excellent talent. How long did it take you to make this basket? I noticed a change in the camera angle and several outfit changes, so I'm assuming this wasn't done in one sitting. You have sparked an interest and inspired me to try my hand at this. Thanks! And you made the idea of, "sleeping in" this morning - the joke's on me, it's daylight savings (oof), more enjoyable. Lol
This was delightful to watch. Such a lovely organic structure with what nature provides. How do "fix" the colours. I assume that if left in sunlight, they will all go the brown colour. I have looked at doing something like this for some time with pine needles.
I just posted a video today about dyeing needles where I give some information on that very topic. Let me know if I don't answer your question in this video: ruclips.net/video/ky9RelNh29o/видео.html Good luck!
@@TextileIndie I saw😁 that ticked the box totally! Been looking to try this out for a while as we regularly go on long walks and come across lovely pine trees.
If you’re working clockwise you would put your needle in on the right of the previous stitch. It would be to the left if you are working counterclockwise.
Maureen, check out the full playlist here: ruclips.net/p/PLvVFPjLTi89hEPqjRAWtiVlR_sm4pkS4d This video is intended as inspiration - but I have a series of very detailed tutorials and I hope you will be able to see my stitches. Thanks for the feedback!
You can leave the tips on. I didn’t want that specific texture in this basket and I didn’t want to work with the bumps the tips create. But it’s absolutely something you can do.

lovely
This is nuts. It’s so simple, but it’s clear you’ve put a lot of time and focus in to get there. Amazing stuff! Inspiring! Love it!
Thanks a ton!
Gorgeous basket..I struggle with shaping and would love to be able to shape like this..in then out again..love it 😀 ❤❤❤
Thank you! Stitch placement is the main shaping dictator. Where you put the stitch determines where the coil sits.
@@TextileIndie thanks..I ended up making a basket like yours..it came out great..id post a pic..but can't on here?
you sure made that look easy! so beautiful!!
Thanks!

This basket took 6-8 hours, I lost track! Are you making a pine needle basket?

Do you place the needle to the left or right of the previous stitch?

I am having trouble seeing how you are stitching your coils.

I have my favorite waxed theads listed on the above blog page.
Thanks for asking!
Why can’t you leave the tips on the needles? It seems like it would add bulk?
You can leave the tips on. I didn’t want that specific texture in this basket and I didn’t want to work with the bumps the tips create. But it’s absolutely something you can do.
Question, will the pine needles mold if they arenʻt dry before weaving?
No the pine needles will dry thoroughly after weaving. They need to be very damp in order to weave the basket.
@@TextileIndie thank you! going to try this!
