Actually, it was a dog, and the rear suspension system was a poor design that allowed for way too much drag. The eccentric cam system just didn't work, unfortunately.
These were the transition years for the Suzuki RM’s after the full Floater. It took some time for Bob to get them going on the right path. By 1988 you could see and feel a big difference in the motor and chassis. The 1988 was the one year production works style bike that was in Europe and Japan. In 1989 all Bobs input with Suzuki came to fruition with the 1989-1993 models. Great bikes in their day with a slew of championships in GP’s.
Absolutely stunning bike. I'm fairly sure that Hannah won '86 Unadilla on that crazy #22, Eyvind Boyesen-link, highly modified RM250. Johnny-O's race to lose..or run out of fuel. Supposedly that Boyesen prepped RM was making 60+ at the crank...on a 250?? That's 125 rpms. May have been B.S., but as my former Welsh boss used to say, "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story!" I haven't watched the video in a bit, but I believe Gary Bailey may have on his site. Definitely on the Motocross Race Vault. Thank you for another great video!

Suspension on these are real good. The 250cc engine is pretty good, whereas the 125cc is sorta weak (1st year power Valve) = If you can't get a deal on a RMX get this 250cc MX instead. -Great all around bikes and great for trails now also. -you are getting a steal on this super excellent-minty MX bike.
Do you know Ken Senior I think I know Doug Henry I think he grew up the next house down from my friend. I believe a Yamaha RM 400 my friend had was his past race bike believe he was from Oxford mass not sure.. awesome oil n gas 💥🎉awesome bike.
The production rule didn't apply in the GP's. Hannah's bike's frame was heavily modified, so it could accommodate the one-off Boyesen Link. That rear suspension system was by far the most intricate design in rear suspension history. What you have here is just a basic 1986 production RM250. Plus, Hannah signed with Suzuki in 1986, not 1985. I was at Unadilla in 1986 and watched as the O'Show ran out of gas on the last lap right in front of me. The poor guy was beyond defeated. I truly felt bad for him even though I was rooting for the Hurricane.

1986 RM 250 wasn't the fastest in its class but the blue motor and frame made it one of the better looking bikes for that year.

Had the same bike, removeed the blue dust covers on the front forks to look more like Hannah my first modification
