I never stay further north than Encore 🤣, let's see if Genting World Resorts changes my mind. You do need to feel safe in the area, which the lack of connecting walk ways, etc makes it feel unloved. Good job again Chris 👏
Hey pompsie. I tried watching your " how it feels to be famous" vlog. Somnething wrong. It won't let me bypass ads, then after ads are done the video doesn't start. Maybe you should check that out
The Peppermill is epic. So is the fire side lounge inside. Been there many times. That north end of the strip is ghetto. Can't wait to see what they do with it in the future.
@Pompsie just took my brother out there for his 35th birthday I got us a room at the Venetian thanks to your videos. Everybody loved the room keeping making great videos, thanks. And we got in a a game of 1/3 NL holdem it was awesome!
Good call on the Uber back. That portion of the strip during the day is questionable at night forget about it.. no chance you’ll catch me walking there. Good video, thanks for the review. This hotel property is one I’d probably never stay at myself but it’s nice to see what it looks like. ✌🏽
The Riviera was Fantastic. I love this resort almost more then any. I had a lot of fun in this very loose casino, and the comps were better than any to date. If the Riviera was in almost any other city in the world it would have been that city's finest hotel.
Totally agree, im so mad that i didnt discover it until like a year and a half b4 it was torn down. It was beautiful and we got to stay there 3 times b4 it closed. Old Vegas at its best.😢😢😢
They finally built something on that big plot of land next to Circus Circus . When I lived in Vegas in the mid 90's there was nothing there. I used to walk that part of town because I lived right off Sahara
I have stayed at the HGV on Paradise one block from the strip. It was great and the price was decent. It is next to the Westgate with easy access to the monorail stop. When the monorail was running, that provided very convenient access to the main Strip casinos.
Very nice Adam! I like the microwave & fridge for leftovers. Grab a swim, dinner and a movie in your room. Dang, I miss the Riviera, Westward Ho and Stardust in that area. Boo hoo, Vegas screwed up bad, knocking those out. Riviera was the coolest old vibe type.
Hi Pompsie! Nice Hilton property if you do not want to be where the action is on the Strip. The Elara property at the Miracle Mile Shops looks like it is a better "Location" option. I enjoy looking at their lobby when I am at the Mall. Thank you for sharing. CAB 😊
Always nice to use the F&F code! Lucky I have friends /family who work for Hilton/ Marriot/ Hyatt. Love traveling with my son, he gets $79 rates and comp nights and lots of employee love from the Hyatt. Great review! 🤙🏼
Pompsie that was a very fun video and great editing. It’s exciting watching you grow with each new video. I actually think you do better on your solo ones.
I own a 2 bedroom suite at this Hilton resort but I actually prefer the Elara. So we end up staying at the Elara most of the time. They also have another property called the hgvc on paradise on Karen ave which is also pretty chill.
I do miss the Riviera It was always one of my favorite places to go when I would visit back between 07 and when it was closed. same goes for the old Sahara. my friends and i used to come down a couple times a year usually after finals for the semester to unwind and have a good time. we would cram as many people as we could in to a hotel room usually at the Sahara or stratosphere because they were super cheap and walk down to everything.
Another great vid. It’s sad a lot of the old school casinos like the Riviera are gone. My first time in Vegas was in 2003, I stayed at the Sahara before it got its makeover.
There's an interesting yet disturbing documentary called the Queen of Versailles about the Siegels. David Siegel originally built the Elara and eventually had to sell it. He now owns the Westgate.
i stayed at the riv one month before it closed. hard to believe something so big was there and now its just a parking lot. it was a vegas icon once upon a time.
This is my go to resort. The larger rooms are much nicer with large soaking whirlpool tubs and full kitchens, with stacked washer and dryers! Great for budget on food and luggage
When you get a chance could you do the Westgate ? Maybe get one of the insane world suites they have on the top floor? I stayed at the Westgate and was very pleased with price and cleanliness and customer service but I went to the top floor and was AMAZED every door is themed and different and gorgeous
Agreed! I stayed a whole month there for work back in '16, I was given a top-of-the-art suite that I haven't been able to see again in any booking website, not even on their official site. I even forgot the room #... Restaurants rock too.
Thank you for your insight on this side of the strip. I currently work for Hilton in Los Angeles but my dream is to work for Resorts World once it opens. I’m hopeful that it will eventually bring more people to visit the north end! 🤗❤️
I hate demolitions, such as the Riviera. I remember watching them blow up the Traymore in Atlantic City, bit by bit, when I was a teenager. I had an appreciation for history even at that age, and actually teared up a little bit watching it come down. I know you and your parents can appreciate this, being South Jersey folks. Great job on this video, as always.
The family and I stayed at this hotel a few years ago and it was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. Surprised they charge for turn down service because back when we stayed, it was free. Probably due to how things are right now.
Exceptionally well edited with a ton in information that is important. Especially the area and that is looks and is questionable and so far away from the hot spots. Scary place to walk during the day and no way would it be good at night. Hopefully in a few years, this section will be much more presentable and engaged. Again, loved the artistic editing and and professionally crafted presentation. Now you have fans....around 5:00mm. I started cracking up at the DVD rental system. I still use CDs in my little Boom Box at home. I refuse to give them up, kind of like real books vs an E-book. Nice to know some things are retro and have a nice memory per technology and Tech's progression.
We are Hilton Honors members and have stayed at that property and at the Elara and that place has nothing on the Elara, I do like that it it is close to Essence dispensary wink wink though. Not a bad property but too far from anything else except the fabulous Peppermill. Great video as usual Pompsie
I used to stay at that Hilton! SO glad you got an uber back to your room! That stretch has never felt safe to me. Was that balconies at the Hilton? Here I thought Cosmo was the only property with balconies! Maybe that is a video idea ... talking about the properties with balconies? Tfs!
Last time I was in the Riviera was when the liquidation sale was going on - it was a few days in and it was pretty trashed in places by then. This hotel, while there's nothing bad about itself needs the surroundings to improve. It should do but it's been a long wait already.
Sooo have you experienced any implosions yet? When I was living there I got to experience if I remember correctly, five: The Landmark - 1995. The Sands - 1996. Hacienda - 1996. Aladdin - 1998. El Rancho -2000. They’re sooo cool to witness! But thanks for all your cool Las Vegas hotel reviews!!!
There are actually 5 HGV properties in the strip area. I stayed at this one for March Madness in 2018. It was good since the monorail was functioning and easy to catch at the SLS (now Sahara again?). There is one next to Westgate on Karen Ave which is very nice, I have stayed there too. There is one at Flamingo right next to the Link and monorail. Great location but a little more worn. Elara and Trump are also HGV. They are all timeshare properties but you can usually also rent there.
WOW, this place is way nicer than i thought. These hotels should give u RUclipsrs free or very discounted rooms, because we discover places we would've never known abt through u guys. Free publicity. And glad they are working to pretty up that end of the strip.
That end of the strip will be awesome some day soon for sure! And yeah I’m in agreement haha I’m in the process of trying to barter with some of these businesses and resorts. Maybe some day I’ll get hooked up and respected 😂🙏🏼

They also sold my info to RCI and other like firms that call me 2 or 3 times a week for almost 3 years now. I also thought I had booked the new hotel center strip until I arrived there.
Born and raised here in Vegas, I’m a Knights 🏒 fan . The north end of the strip where you are will be changing soon. There is a lot of construction 🚧 there with the road. I miss the Riviera ,I stayed there about 30 times since 1970. I remember the vibe of old Vegas. Nothing compares to it now.
Never stayed at the Riviera but found some good deals on Staypia I want to give it a try. I’d love to see how it was back then if I can!
Old Vegas was the best. It’s a shell of its old self
Never stayed there but liked to eat at their buffet
