- Gallup (/ˈɡæ.ləp/ Navajo: Naʼnízhoozhí /nɑ̀ʔnɪ́ʒòːʒɪ́/; Zuni: Kalabwakin) is a city in McKinley County, New Mexico, United States, with a population of 21,605 as of the 2020 census. A substantial percentage of its population is Native American, with residents from the Navajo, Hopi, and Zuni tribes. Gallup is the county seat of McKinley County[4] and the most populous city between Flagstaff and Albuquerque, along the historic U.S. Route 66.
The city was founded in 1881 as a railhead for the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad, and named after David Gallup, a paymaster for the railroad. It is on the Trails of the Ancients Byway, one of the designated New Mexico Scenic Byways. Because of the nearby rugged terrain, it was a popular location in the 1940s and 1950s for Hollywood Westerns.

The memories. Sk8 park jumping bikes in the hills . Doing dumb shit.
lmao this place is still the same I left gallop almost almost 20 years ago and this place is still the same holy crap thank God I left this town
Gallup is indeed a very interesting town.
Located right on Interstate 40 for easy on/off access.
Home to Richardson's Trading Post for authentic Native American jewelry; Earle's Restaurant for breakfast; and Jerry's Cafe for great Mexican food.
You can't go wrong at any of the places named above.
I haven't been there recently, but it used to be a pretty dangerous place after dark with all the intoxicated drivers.
Great place for a quick tour of Richardson's and a bite to eat - then get the hell out of town before the sun goes down. 👍
This is a really nice video. I might make one to update the new changes Gallup has made. It's a lot nicer
Those vintage signs though
I lived here for about a year back in 1994 (I was 14) and I don't think I could recognize anything at all. Maybe my memory isn't what it used to be =P
Got off I-40 looking for gas and a place to eat. Was drive up the main business route and saw drunk, passed out NA laying on the sidewalk in the middle of the day. Not just a couple, but a dozen at least. Got my gas and left. Depressing place.
I hate this place give me a lot of PTSD going there. I was bullied in high school a lot of time and teachers didn’t do anything. Teachers made fun of me all the time.
G town haha glhanee town
It's home...
I shop in gallup, I'm not agl'oony. Where's your respect, one of these drunks might be your siblings or close relatives.
Social media is not a place for you.
Gallup is beautiful, nice, friendly environment if you go to the right place.
I live at Sun valley
….and the roads are full of potholes.
Cool video but too fast.
This makes me want to drink
Don’t be mean.
Lol
😬
The town is kinda run down now because of covid, drugs and homeless. Just like everywhere else.
NATIVE AMERICAN Capital of the World‽ It was once called the INDIAN Capital of the World. I see store after store with INDIAN written on their signs. Must be a turista video.
It’s AMERICAN INDIAN capital of the world
Drunk Town USA
In 2007 I was driving across the country and randomly stopped in the Walmart in Gallup. I was a very stereotypically attractive 24 year old male at the time so I was used to women checking me out. When I walked through the Walmart there was only Natives in the whole Walmart and I’ve never been checked out by so many women in my life. If you’re an attractive white male and want a girlfriend I’d recommend moving to Gallup, Native women seem to love white men for some reason. Native women are very beautiful too I noticed. One thing that made me sad in my hour and a half in Gallup was the drunk Native in the parking lot. He seemed really happy and drunk. He asked for some money which I gave him. I wish alcohol was never introduced to Natives, it does so much damage to them because they didn’t evolve with it like us white people did so it effect natives brains differently and it’s way more addictive for them as well.
If u know how to drink 🍻 use it right
those aunties were trynna get their land back eeeee 🤣🤣🤣
It's their problem now. Alcohol is poison and it's a go to method to get away from life
I’m Han Chinese and I'm planning on maybe working at a local hospital/clinic in the Navajo Nation as a physician. Thus, I feel like that it would be very possible that I might wind up marrying a local Navajo woman there since them Navajo women would literally be the only type of women who I would be exposed to in that case (I really would not have a choice for that matter). So it’s either I marry a local Navajo woman there or I continue to live a celibate life like always. Therefore, my potential kids will basically be Chinajos/Chavajos (Half-Han Chinese and Half-Navajo).
Highest rate for VD…all flavor boys. 😮
Bad driving.
I thought Gallup was the alcoholism and drunk driving capital of the world.
