  • Located on the famed Route 66, Gallup is the heart of Native American Country and a diverse community, surrounded by reservation land and tribes like the Navajo, Apache, and Zuni.
    In downtown Gallup, travelers can shop for anything from jewelry and pottery to paintings and blankets, all made by the area’s tribes.
    When it comes to food, the city offers a blend of Native American and New Mexican dishes, all big on flavor and size.
    Just nine miles east of downtown Gallup spreads the Red Rock Park, the region’s hiking mecca and home to the Red Rock Balloon Festival every December.

      I lived here in Gallup for almost 20 years but it's a really nice place we live between Navajo Nation Reservation and Zuni Reservation they call Gallup a border town cuz it was meant to call that but you can take a look down at our historical downtown Gallup where we still have some places that are haunted Like El Rancho Hotel/ Motel and we have a new Hotel called Best Western Plus but which claims to be haunted cuz of an old Apartment Complex was there but they knocked it down and build the Hotel on top of it but hope you'll enjoy our Most Patriotic Small Town in America which was built in 1818 and still continuing to grow

    I was told that pow wows are not what Diné people did it’s more of plains natives. And the jewelry out there are so expensive. White peoples buying for low prices but yet maybe double it.

    • @kb_9880
      @kb_9880 8 месяцев назад

      The Pow Wows are a social dance among the Native Americans. It's not traditional with the Dine' but is more of a social dance among all the other Native Americans.
      The jewelry is expensive as they are handcrafted by Navajo silversmiths. Being a silversmith is not easy and turquoise sometimes is very expensive - rising rates from the seller to the silversmith.

    Jewelry stores and restaurants all there is in Gallup and hotels let's talk about the drunk issues the domestic violence the drug issues oh yeah and then the homeless issues. There is nothing in Gallup for kids or young adults what about a community center not only on the east side the west side is a barren waste land all city council cares about is down town with all the federal monies here not being used for good things IJS

    • @kb_9880
      @kb_9880 8 месяцев назад

      There are a lot of white ppl who are friends with the Navajo and surrounding tribes. If they are racist (white) then they are not liked, of course. A lot of whites are also married to both Natives and Hispanic ppl around there.
