- Located on the famed Route 66, Gallup is the heart of Native American Country and a diverse community, surrounded by reservation land and tribes like the Navajo, Apache, and Zuni.
In downtown Gallup, travelers can shop for anything from jewelry and pottery to paintings and blankets, all made by the area’s tribes.
When it comes to food, the city offers a blend of Native American and New Mexican dishes, all big on flavor and size.
Just nine miles east of downtown Gallup spreads the Red Rock Park, the region’s hiking mecca and home to the Red Rock Balloon Festival every December.

Welcome, ❤
I love the rest area with the Animals on the rocks.. I'm a truck driver and I love Gallup🙏🏽
Glad to hear some positive things about Gallup. I am fond of this mid-sized city, but the crime stats are pretty bad.
It's the out skirts, they count outside crime
I’m here cause I randomly saw Gallup on Google Earth and thought it looked cool!
Same here haha
Hope you get to visit it too one day :)
@@groovyjam9530 Hope you get to visit it soon and enjoy it as much as I did :)

top things to do in 2020: stay inside
Yes, indeed. Can't wait to travel again though!
That's pretty cool. I always blow through there on I-40, but next time I'll spend some time there exploring.
Stay at Travelodge by Wyndham,
Come To Zuni Pueblo After Corona Is Over
I'm heading to Gallup in April, but I dont think the Arcona Pueblo will be reopened yet.
I miss Gallup! I loved there because of all the things you can do there
I agree! Had a lot of fun!
Umm I used to live there until I was 10
Looks nice in pictures
I can't believe it. I always wanted to meet the native americans. I will be in Gallup for one day on my way to California, I hope I could see them. It would be an honor for me. So happy!
Cool, p.s. watch out for glonnies
@@acutellel Excuse me, what does glonnies mean?
@@carmenvalladares9853 glonnies are druggies or drunkies that are all around gallup and window rock, so youll see some people that are doing drugs and people that are publicly drunk
@@acutellel Ohhh! Thank you very much for letting me know.
@@carmenvalladares9853 no problem, when you going?
Who else lives in gallup
I lived here in Gallup for almost 20 years but it's a really nice place we live between Navajo Nation Reservation and Zuni Reservation they call Gallup a border town cuz it was meant to call that but you can take a look down at our historical downtown Gallup where we still have some places that are haunted Like El Rancho Hotel/ Motel and we have a new Hotel called Best Western Plus but which claims to be haunted cuz of an old Apartment Complex was there but they knocked it down and build the Hotel on top of it but hope you'll enjoy our Most Patriotic Small Town in America which was built in 1818 and still continuing to grow
OMG ALLY WTF THIS WAS ON MY RUclips LOL
Me
Me, born and raised there. I'm 64 now and I still love Gallup. ❤
Good video. I appreciate it.
I live in iyanbito which also means in English buffalo springs 💞☺️
My grandma stays there too.
how is small town life? you have to drive long distances to get around right
All this smoke and mirrors while the massive homeless issue in Gallup is ignored. Where does all the federal money go?
They’re not homeless, they are just panhandling alcoholics, but they have somewhere they can go home to. Most of them do anyway
They aren't home less lol I help them all the time
I feel home sick now 😭
I hope you get to go back at some point!
Factor out the absurdly high crime rate, rampant alcoholism, homelessness and rape statistics up there with Botswana and South Africa and it's a neat place.
Ugliest town I have ever driven through but nice culture
Missing back home. Haha love where I grow up. 💯
There was a prairie dog town along the entrance to I40 is that still around?
I live here and in Navajo
Nice and Creative Videos, This is really my favorite channle.:).
I really glad to see your post and your world was so brilliant. 🌴🌴🌴
excellent and Much appreciated!!🌴🌴🌴 🌴🌴🌴 🌴🌴🌴 🌴🌴🌴 from:
Gallup City McKinley
Danny is correct I left Gallup in 1984. Dam I thought the crime was bad then. Now they will steal you Blind. But it will always be my home town.
What About Firerock!!???
@Ch'iidii Eagle Cafe appears to be closed.
Please see Rich's comment.
Why would a indigenous Women use the word INDIAN? WE ARE NOT FROM Indiana
nope, you’re not from indiana.
rex is now closed 🥲
Juggernaut music
We do not prefer as Indians so stop calling us that we are called Native American
I was told that pow wows are not what Diné people did it’s more of plains natives. And the jewelry out there are so expensive. White peoples buying for low prices but yet maybe double it.
The Pow Wows are a social dance among the Native Americans. It's not traditional with the Dine' but is more of a social dance among all the other Native Americans.
The jewelry is expensive as they are handcrafted by Navajo silversmiths. Being a silversmith is not easy and turquoise sometimes is very expensive - rising rates from the seller to the silversmith.
It's S H
Jewelry stores and restaurants all there is in Gallup and hotels let's talk about the drunk issues the domestic violence the drug issues oh yeah and then the homeless issues. There is nothing in Gallup for kids or young adults what about a community center not only on the east side the west side is a barren waste land all city council cares about is down town with all the federal monies here not being used for good things IJS
I'm going to take peyote in Gallup and party with their people.
A white lady in gallop. Bet she wasn’t welcome!😂😂
Yes she was there's alot of whites that live here not to mention they buy all the jewelry
@@randygonzalez1375 well, that’s good to know. All I’ve ever heard is if your diving on the 40 in AZ or NM don’t stop or talk to anyone because white people are not liked. This came from a Navajo woman BTW. Hopefully that’s just her opinion. I mean no harm or disrespect to anyone.
@@rustyshakelford1279 yea it's just here opinion I'm not saying people are the nicest here we're def below average on that scale but we don't hate white people just crankier than other cities don't take it personal were lik that with each other. But yea white people def have nothing to worry about
There are a lot of white ppl who are friends with the Navajo and surrounding tribes. If they are racist (white) then they are not liked, of course. A lot of whites are also married to both Natives and Hispanic ppl around there.
