Oh, you got the Nord Stage 4 now? Which keys do you like better? The Nord or the fully weighted Korg M3 keys? Which piano presets do you like better?

I got the Nord Stage 4 73 notes for the organ sound. So I wanted a touch of organ (semi weighted) and for synthesizer solos. So far I haven't done much with it. But if you listen to my version of Caravan (Nine Feet Underground) you will be able to hear the B3 sound, I love it. For the piano I find that the sound is very similar to my M3.

I asked because I'm considering getting a used M3 with 88 keys (and the RAM expansion) that I saw in a local classified ad for under 1000€. I believe the keybed and the various instrument samples are so much better than everything I have (incl. a Nord Wave 2, which is good for other reasons). I don't think I could get more bang for the buck with anything else, even though I don't really NEED yet another synth 😅

@@g3cd if it is in good condition. touch screen, new original memory, buttons not erased. it's a great keyboard. I didn't want to replace it, the Nord Stage was complementary like my Prophet 08. For the drum I use the Alesis DM Pro midi to be able to separate bd, sn, tom, cym... in the mix.

@@sylvain-alias-leoUh, that would be ANOTHER 9 stereo channels to accomodate 😅 (I'm working dawless, so this means at least another 40 cables routes through my studio desk, and some additional summing mixer?). I'm very happy with my Nord Drum 3P where I can dial in the exact kind of drum in an instant, but it does bother me that I can't control seperate drums. I was considering getting an Erica Synths LXR-02, a Roland TR8-S ... or a Speck Via Fader 16+ (but that's soooo expensive and nobody sells them used). Gotta think of that ... the Alesis does go for 149€ now though, it's dead cheap.

in fact the way I work is to use the 6 outputs of M3, L/R (different piano, organ, strings) outputs 1+2 (other keyboard sound) output 3 (dedicated for bass) directly connected to a lexicon , output 4 (guitar) directly connected to a Line 6. That's why I don't use the drum of the M3 (even if it is very good) so I dedicate the m.i.d.i channel 10 to the drum which controls the alesis. The M3 is my sequencer. I bought the Nord Stage 4 to replace a Jupiter 50 so the organ sounds were poor. But ultimately I'm still stuck with the Jupiter since I still haven't sold it. I wanted to update my setup by changing my M3 (buy 2009) but I didn't find anything as interesting so I bought a second one because the first one I bought was starting to get old and so I was afraid of lose my sequencer. So, I keep the old ones for parts. Everything is mixed in a Soundcraft mixer with 22 MTK inputs via USB to my iMac. I hope this is clear because I don't speak English (google translate) ✌
