Good to see you back team ,been watching out for your weather down south and seen the rain you have had not good conditions for lambing/ spring, let’s hope for some warmer weather, looking forward to your next videos
I feel for you, losing all those bales. In Ireland they paint on the wrap but they don't get problems with seagulls, usually corvids and the same in England. Gas powered bird scarer is what's used on crops for pigeon or something that flutters but I'm not sure sees glass are scared of things like that.
Sad to hear about how wet you guys have been over lambing and early spring, hoping for some sunny days for you guys to help turn the season around I had a mate in Westland who had problems with birds attacking his wrapped bales and he put some "special seed" out and "eliminated" the problem Not that I'm advocating that mind due 😂
Have you ever tried summer brassica crops or chicory? You could roll something like old lay flat pipe/weed matting or even some old wrap over top of the bales and weight it down with some old tyres to prevent birds puncturing the bale wrap.
What kind of dog whistle do u use. And I'm a young feller not far out of leaving school is it worth doing something like a basic dog handling course or something like that with Telford. Cheer's 👍
@@deepsouthsheepbeef4307 I've got a plastic one from my ag teacher ages ago and I'm quite good with it and kinda no what I'm doing but never worked with a dog using a whistle

@@colinkennedy8730 cheers mate.
Mate, you must’ve been stoked to take that pic of the ole blue girl and Aurora
@@rosshardy3597 kinda 😅. First time I've seen it while knowing what it was.

A lot here in the uk put tyre's and net over the bales apparently the birds don't like landing on the net jt gets stuck in there claws.
@@chuckle30 roger that, cheers.

Are the extra calves there to fill the lamb shortfall or because you can carry a few more now as a result of it?
@@colinwientjens1871 it was sort of accidental 😅, but 10 calves won't matter.

I rate the greenstone ones aye, but start on a plastic. If you have no experience, they're a great start point, those courses.

@LJ_Adventure79 also get involved with any dog trial clubs they have a lot of experienced people that will be happy to give help
Enquire with the airports sighted in coastal areas or pilots. They have experience deterring flocks of Gulls
Good thinking.
Can you suspend some electrified wires over the top of the bales so it makes it difficult for the seagulls to land and take-off?
@@Agility-s7q unfortunately it won't work if not earthed. Doubt it'l earth through the wrapped baleage.
