I've been here 15 years. The hottest summer I experienced it got to 49 degrees for a few days back in 2013. I used to put my pillow in the freezer for a couple of hours before going to bed. AND I didn't have AC back in those days. Utter nightmare!
Where have you been shopping? Fresh strawberries, in Mellieha, where I live, are between 2 and 2.5 euro. Go to a small market. A lot of them are owned by farm families. I am able to eat things here that I gave up 10 or more years ago, when I lived in the States. Just bought broccoli and mushrooms yesterday. Like having diamonds and rubies, except they are edible. 40C may seem hot to someone who grew up in Britain, but it is normal for people like me. All a matter of what you're accustomed to. But I don't like the damp in winter.
I was thinking the same about the weather 😭. I live in a country where it is normal for the temperature to he 47,48 degrees Celsius in the summer so it getting to 40 rarely is fine for me!
as a maltese person i wish you would've talked more about our history cause like you said we have old temples from probably centuries ago but we are also known for being (i think) the most bombed place in world war 2 because we were being invaded by everyone and so we were getting bombed by almost everyone

Where did you buy your strawberries from? If from supermarkets, then yes, they would be pricey, especially during off-season. But when they're in season you can find them for half that price at the farmer's market in Ta' Qali. They also sell plenty of locally grown produce for less than you'd find in a shop :)
i have never saw a box of strawberries sold for 8euros even from a supermarket, usually when in season they are sold from 2.50 to 4 euros, small box, but even when not in season, they are sold much less from that price

Interesting. I have just visited Malta for the first time and I hardly saw any garbage on the street. For me,I found it very, very clean. It even reminded me of Monaco,at least Valletta

Perth in Western Australia sounds very similar regarding hot weather. We often get 88C-42C or sometimes higher.. during summer. Not much rain if any during summer. I’ve had a gut full of the heat. It honestly depends on where you decide to live, areas like Sliema/St Julians/Valletta are generally pretty high in terms of rent prices. Places such as Bugibba are cheaper in terms of rent. Food (I find) is on the expensive side but if you know where to shop then you can live pretty comfortably on a fair budget 😊

Hi Anish 👋 at the moment it's winter here, but a lovely mild winter 😀 so around 15°c, but with some rainy days, January usually gets a bit colder then in March it will warm up again 😊
Compared with that of the UK - very mild! The temperature doesn't really start to drop drastically until December/January. For instance, right now at the end of October, it's still around 25°C. But when it gets cold - you have to keep in mind that the houses and apartments are made for getting out the heat, so it does feel a lot colder than it actually is
John 3:16-21 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
Many laws have been introduced so that people may stop throwing bulky refuse in fields or waysides. Fines can go as high as 500 euro. So in short Malta is not so dirty as it used to be. Well I have been to Rome and London and Ifound that both cities have skips full to capacity with litter ending up spilled to the ground!
It depends on your definition of walkable hahah. But the nicest areas to walk around are Sliema (it has a big promenade along the front as well as lots of shops/a shopping mall - but it means it's usually busy), Valletta is classed as a city so there's city toll for cars, which means it's quite nice to walk around there (again, can be busy). And really any smaller/seaside towns like Mellieha, St Pauls Bay. But those are just from personal experience, I don't really go to the south that much, but I'm sure there's lovely walkable neighborhoods there too.
Honestly it depends, it's the same as most places in Europe. There are certain areas where I personally feel more safe and can walk/get public transport alone in the evening. But there are certain areas that I would avoid... just a case of using common sense and making sure you take the right precautions 😊
how about the constant hunting, killing of birds, shooting noise, and construction in Gozo, no one ever talks about this and I wish I knew before moving there, don't recommend, also trash on beaches and streets in Gozo

Hi Anish 👋 at the moment it's winter here, but a lovely mild winter 😀 so around 15°c, but with some rainy days, January usually gets a bit colder then in March it will warm up again 😊
What’s the weather like in winter?
Compared with that of the UK - very mild! The temperature doesn't really start to drop drastically until December/January. For instance, right now at the end of October, it's still around 25°C. But when it gets cold - you have to keep in mind that the houses and apartments are made for getting out the heat, so it does feel a lot colder than it actually is
I’ll explain it .. it has to be shipped in …it’s that simple
I live in Malta!!
:D
I love it
Many laws have been introduced so that people may stop throwing bulky refuse in fields or waysides. Fines can go as high as 500 euro. So in short Malta is not so dirty as it used to be. Well I have been to Rome and London and Ifound that both cities have skips full to capacity with litter ending up spilled to the ground!
What’s a walkable neighborhood in Malta
It depends on your definition of walkable hahah. But the nicest areas to walk around are Sliema (it has a big promenade along the front as well as lots of shops/a shopping mall - but it means it's usually busy), Valletta is classed as a city so there's city toll for cars, which means it's quite nice to walk around there (again, can be busy). And really any smaller/seaside towns like Mellieha, St Pauls Bay. But those are just from personal experience, I don't really go to the south that much, but I'm sure there's lovely walkable neighborhoods there too.
strawberries do not cost that much.
3 euro for a big box
😍😍😍
Do you find Malta safe for women travelling on their own?
Honestly it depends, it's the same as most places in Europe. There are certain areas where I personally feel more safe and can walk/get public transport alone in the evening. But there are certain areas that I would avoid... just a case of using common sense and making sure you take the right precautions 😊
how about the constant hunting, killing of birds, shooting noise, and construction in Gozo, no one ever talks about this and I wish I knew before moving there, don't recommend, also trash on beaches and streets in Gozo
I'm not so knowledgable on Gozo as I've not lived there. But totally agree! Even hunting is a problem in Malta too, its so sad ☹
