First-Time 88-Year Old Father: The Story of a Rabbi Who Never Gave Up

- Rabbi Tzvi Kushelevsky, a respected rosh yeshiva based in Jerusalem, joyfully welcomed his firstborn son into the world this March at the age of 88.
Rabbi Kushelevsky experienced the sorrow of becoming a widower at 82, having never had children with his first wife. He remarried six years later to Mrs. Rochel Daniella, an American woman aged 50 at the time, already a mother to several children.
At 88, Rabbi Kushlefsky and his Rebbetzin, now 57, celebrated the birth of their first son together. The joyous event occurred at Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, where the baby was born healthy, without any complications, thank God.
The streets of Jerusalem near his yeshivas were alive with dancing as the community shared in his happiness.
In this episode, I traveled to Lakewood to meet them and to ask them about their faith and trust in Hashem. Oh and to also meet the very adorable Eliyahu (their son).

It is bigger miracle.
The difference is that she had a 5 children but with the Rosh Yeshiva he not only never had children but had been trying for 65 years and the doctors told him it would be IMPOSSIBLE to EVER have a child.
its one of the biggest miracles in the world in fact, She would be the 2nd oldest woman to give birth naturally in the world in recorded history. But its more likely she used donor eggs.

Mazal Tov!! My daughter gave birth the day after the Rebbetzin in the same hospital and was in the kimpaturim home the same Shabbos. The joy was indescribable. My son in law learned in Heichel Hatorah for several years and he and my grandson were abe to attend the bris. May Eliyahu grow to Torah, chuppah and ma'asim tovim and shine his light on Klal Yisrael in his future.
Thank God for His mighty grace. The baby is very healthy and normal. God be praised.

It is inspiring. The mother has had a few kids already, so that helped a lot. She had a natural birth & nurses the baby! Remarkable!! It's neat he has a bunch of siblings.
My friend tried for 11 years for a second baby. I hadn’t known her very long but we came together in prayer and asked in Jesus’s name for a healthy baby for her and it was given. Even after the drs said give up. He is absolutely beautiful and now their family is complete.

This makes me sob like a little school girl. I am not Jewish, but i have worked with frum Yiddishkeit in glatt kosher shechita as a federal meat inspector for USDA FSIS. My career was ended by a injury so now I am working towards my batchelors degree in Animal Science and Agribusiness at the age of nearly 45. Some days, I feel like I'm not doing well enough and Ill never get this degree and I let my beloved dad down. This gives me hope. Ha-Shem answers prayers, you just have to have the faith of a tiny child. If he was granted his miracle, perhaps I can get mine too. I wish to teach agriculture to the next generation.

I can’t imagine the pain. I have struggling to get married for 10+ years and it seems impossible. What really amazed me is that he said he never suffered because hashem does everything for the “good”. I wish I had that level of emunah…

This story touched me deeply when I first read about it. May the Lord give them many many years of life to care for their beautiful baby and siblings. I can somehow relate to the story because just like Ana in the Old Testament, I wept and poured out my heart more times than I can count before the Lord. But thru many years and over 10 losses I never doubted that my Father in Heaven would grant my longing to become a mother. After 15 years of that wait, He gave us a 3 year old, then 9 months after a 21 month old, then a year later a newborn. 🥹😭❤ My God is mighty and powerful and can do that and more. And while none of my children came from my womb they surely came from my heart. For those still waiting, I see you and fully understand you. I know it’s very heartbreaking and a lonely journey but please never ever lose hope and faith.

I think that most important thing is that the Rosh Yeshiva Shlita got a brachah -blessing from Rav Moishe Shternbuch Shlita(even twice-at his second wedding and 9-10 month or about a year before the birth of the baby boy.)And Rav Sternbuch said by these two occasions when he gave broche -he is sure that he will have child.
