    Quick notes:
    ☑️ If you don't have a folder named called MoSetup, you can right click on the parent "Setup" folder and then click on New. Then Select new Key and create a folder called MoSetup.
    ☑️ When you upgrade, it'll keep all apps and files.
    ☑️ For this to work, you need Secure Boot. You can enable: docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/user-help/you-need-to-enable-secure-boot-windows
    ☑️ This only bypasses some requirements. You still need the following to qualify: 1 GHz processor or faster with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor, at least TPM 1.2, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, UEFI, & Secure Boot capable.

    Thanks Kevin! This procedure just worked for my Lenovo Xeon E3-1271 V3 desktop. I also didn't have the MoSetup folder in the registry so I made one and added the AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU key. I was warned at one stage that my upgrade would not be supported (e.g., updates) but I proceeded anyway as others say they have since received cumulative updates. Everything seems to be working fine so far. I really like the file explorer tabs on Windows 11 as it improves productivity and organisation and it is now a smoother transition when I switch back to my Win 11 laptop. I think it is worth it just for this. I will update again later to let everyone know how things are running.

      Yep, it works. It is a little harder than that for really old computers, but I got it to run perfect on a 2007 laptop with Core 2 Duo T9300 (and I could have used a way worse CPU)
      I had 4GB of DDR2 RAM, and an SSD (almost a requirement, avoids crying and killing yourself)
      My graphics were the Intel GM965 Chipset, I had a hard time making some drivers work but I ended up succeeding!
      I am not worried about security updates as neither TPM 2.0 or UEFI and secure boot are a real hardware requirement for any of these. If Microsoft decides to not provide them to people who are running it on "unsupported" hardware, there will sure be some workarounds very soon!

    The stupidest part is Microsoft now "supporting" some gen 7 intel processors, but not others. Like, they did add the i5 7640X to the list of "supported" processors but not the i7 7700K, which not only has more cache, but also has more threads.
    It would be a lot better if we could get some exact words behind their reasoning as to why some processors are supported and others aren't. Why would the i5 7640X (Which should be noted is found on the Microsoft Surface Studio 2 Laptop) be supported and not the i7 7700K? It is the same generation after all and both of those CPU's have almost the exact same features..
    This also raises the question a lot of people may have: If Microsoft were so strict about their hardware requirements, stating that you could outright damage your computer if it wasn't supported, why have they opened up the support for previous "unsupported hardware?
    Microsofts latest update have also been applied to unsupported hardware, so what exactly is happening here. Do you REALLY need to meet all of their requirements to have a smooth experience on WIndows 11?

    • @cratew2142
      @cratew2142 2 года назад +1

      The exact reasoning is simple, make money, sell more devices. Even if Microsoft does not make the device they make money from charging OEMs for windows licences on new computers.

      I was able to install it on a msi gt72 dragon edition and the ge72vr both with the i7 7700 with the bypass and windows 11 runs very stable on the i7 7700HQ, But the bypass wouldn't let me install it on a msi gs70 stealth pro. for some reason it wouldn't pass the TPM 2.0 check on the gs70. The gs70 is my brothers laptop I was trying to help him update. And I just sold my old ge72 to my mother for 300 dollars, as I have the gt72 and i have a ge75 here as well but it's supported without issues.

    PSA: the blocked updates pertain only to TPM (vulnerability patches etc). OS level updates are not blocked. Don't bother trying to force these updates or install them if you don't have TPM, it would be like installing drivers or updates for a sound card you don't even own (same principle).
    BONUS: The boys at MSDN were discussing desktop alerts down the line (amber/presidential/emergency alerts) which suggests a direct connection to some Govt agency that would be pushing these alerts. I am personally going to avoid Win11 and just continue running Win10 in a VM (FreeBSD as a daily driver is grand!)
