    This is what I do to pass time while Metastasized prostate cancer is supposed to be finishing me off, (Mortally). Anyway the time spent is a blast, I can't get out to fly anymore but I can build play and tweak. The building of these speed kits is such a joy that I will gladly assemble any that people in Nova Scotia or wherever want done so they can just fly. I can just build/ you don't want to but do want the plane, Sounds like a wonderful way to end for me. I think I like it, ALOT. LOL

    This looks like a fantastic plane. Good work guys! At some point, I believe the addition of a P-47 Thunderbolt to your wonderful warbird series would be very welcome. The P-47 was undoubtedly one of the most influential warbirds of WWII; right up there with the Mustang, Spitfire. The 56th FG P-47 unit actually having more air to air kills than any other single USAF unit during WWII claiming 677 air victories and 311 ground kills at the loss of only 128 aircraft. This was an incredible rugged aircraft that saved the lives of its pilots countless times, often coming home after a combat mission with entire engine cylinders being blown off, and holes in the wings so big its pilots posed for pictures standing through them.

    I'm about half way done and this has been a blast. Never used a glue gun before, new favorite tool. Wish I had purchased the battery, thought I had an old one, but nope. Everything on hold till I get that so I can center servos to finish the fuselage. Thank you guys so much for taking the time to make the videos, -- perfect pacing, camera angles, and level of detail.

    This probably has been mentioned, but putting a sheet of wax paper under parts that may potentially be glued to your work surface works great. Plus it is transparent enough that you can see the plans if you are building over a set of plans.

    My friend just suprised me with a late birthday gift of this kit. I am pretty excited to have received it. I have been interested in them for sometime now.
    Thanks in advance

  • @SebastianLong
    @SebastianLong 4 года назад

    I can totally see how building one of these kits would be useful to a beginner such as myself. Currently I am using an intermediate plane as my beginner aircraft, the Eflite Night Timber X 1.2, and have learned a few repair tricks with it. So far I've only flown it enough times to count on one hand, but the experience I feel like I've gained is a lot. The battery bay door in it is quite large for using the battery I use so I figured out the foam from the packaging from the battery will fill that void and keep it from shifting CG. I also broke off the landing gear and now I have experience in how to glue something pretty substantial without making it look like an eyesore. Currently I am waiting to receive the Foam-tac supplies I ordered, tac glue, filler, finisher, etc to keep my plane in healthy flying order. The other thing I ordered but weren't in stock was 6 props so I have them. I chipped a blade on the prop that came with it and I nipped the other blade to match and sanded it down to match the blade before it was broken. I'm sure it will require more throttle to fly it or keep it in the air vs before it was broke, but I'm not sure it will even fly like that. It was close to 1/4 or a half inch that broke off, but the rest of the prop is alright. I might try it but am more interested in just switching it out when my new props arrive. Do you think it will fly and/or is even worthwhile to give it a shot or should I just wait for my new props? Also I want to say that because of this video, I understand expo for a plane. Reading it, and some other videos I've watched don't make it clear and concise as this.
    One more question, more an inquiry than anything really. What are your thoughts on laminating the plane, mostly the wings? I've watched videos of people laminating their and I feel like it's actually a good idea for the joints of the ailerons, rudder, elevator, and flaps. Considered doing it to my own as my rudder has pulled slightly away from the fuselage (which is why I ordered the Foam-tac supplies) but I've got hot glue to fix it till then.

  • @JohnBalzac
    @JohnBalzac 7 лет назад +1

    I'm scratch building this plane now, I put the wing in and forgot to test the servos in the wing, one of them of course is a dud! The way the wing is put together, I can't for the life of me open it open to take the servos without completely destroying the wing. Also creased the fuselage like crazy taking the wing out. Going to start over, a good way to spend my thanksgiving :).

    The Power Pak A has a CW rotation propeller, you can use the Power Pod just as it is. However, the upgraded Power Pak F has a CCW rotation propeller, you will need to install the Power Pod upside down to facilitate the effects of the backwards rotation.

    Thanks for the great video. Just finished (almost finished) my first plane-the mighty mini trainer...wow you make it look so easy, only prob so far is; what receiver to use. Every video has a receiver being installed and my power pack A- didn’t come with one. So, I have looked everywhere and watched many Flite Test videos and unless I have missed it somewhere...I don’t think my plane will fly without one. Further, there is no mention or suggestion of what to get. It seems a receiver should at least be suggested as a part of the electronics needed finish the plane. For a new person in the hobby-purchased a spectrum dx6 and a horizon sportsman safe+ trainer for my first plane and radio. Still haven’t had a successful flight. Too windy!

    At the end of the video you guys are talking about Expo what is it

    • @myrealname2022
      @myrealname2022 5 лет назад

      Deadsilent Expo is short for exponential throws. That means that when you move your control stick on your transmitter it exponentially moves your servo in relation to the values input. What it allows you to do on very small fast and twitchy aircraft is move the controls near the centered point with less precision while reducing the response at he aircraft yet when you wish to do aerobatics, such as a snap roll, you get full deflection when you move the control to the max deflection. It sounds complicated but is a basic XY exponent graph based on a simple percentage. I would recommend watching a video that has visuals of the graph. That is a way better way to help visualize what this accomplishes.

    I'm a beginner with no experience flying an rc plane. If I get this plane, should I use the rudder or will it be better if I just start out without it?

    Hey FliteTest, I Have a challenge for you:
    You have to build a plane, a radio, a battery, and a charger for the battery with things you wouldn't find in a hobby store. Basically, if rc planes didn't exist, you have to make all the components yourself.
    Good luck!

    Hi Guys, been watching a lot of your build videos and decided to go for a scratch Build on the FT Mini Mustang. I'm a complete Novice 1st time Pilot and would like to know if you have set up instructions for the DX6i Transmitter ? not going to be using Rudder until i get the hang of things. Keep up the great work Guys.

    I'm trying to scrounge up the money for electronics (even though I don't have a transmitter) because I wanted to build this. I was curious if you have any student program sort of things

    what is the stall speed of that thing? and what's the stall speed on the mighty mini corsair? Do flaperons work on these planes and do they add to slow flying characteristics

    how much more weight does the linkage stoppers add. ive never gotten any but i made a 3d model an have 3d printed some an just wonder how my 3d printed parts compare to the real thing as far as weight goes cause i do use 2 m2 screws for each stopper, ive made them were they use thread inserts or just letting the screw cut threads into the plastic, both work but never thought to weight them to see the difference or even considered them being to much extra weight added. i cant say ive gotten it down yet cause ive only had a few successful flights an none had pretty landings but plane always survived, i dont know if the motors i have are ideal or not, i get the 2212 2000kv motors on amazon an also using the 9g servos so ive probably been way over weight for the power of the motor i have. also 3s batterys but id like to find one that is a good starting plane that u can grow into, at least 3 channel or 4. dont have alot of room so it dont have to be something crazy fast an actually would rather it be something that can be flown slow an moderately quick. i want to learn an get decent so that i can start sharing them with my niece an nephews. i have 3d printers so they are always wanting me to make something an the love the planes but im not comfortable with my skill to take them out an let them watch me fly it an crass land it out of fear i may hit one with it or something. i just want to be sure of myself b4 i include them in flying them. if anyone has suggestions one the best way to learn to fly them it would be greatly appreciated. ive seen some u can buy with gyro stabilizers an i wonder if thats something that can be added or if i would be better off buying something like that to start with but ive never actually done it. also if anyone is interested in the plastic stoppers i made the model for an u have a 3d printer an want to give them a shot let me know an ill share the link to my thingiverse, cults3d or printables which ever u uses, im on all of them.

    Is there a 4 point prop that works with the mighty mini kit motor to make this build more scale? And if so, what is the size etc. I want to build this plane but I wanted to have a prop more closely resembling the real p-51D as a mighty mini

    My mini mustang weighs 550 gm, has a wing span of 24 inch, and wing cross section 115 inch sq., the length is 19 inch and has a 22 kv motor with a 1300 mah battery, 4 servos, and 3 wheels are also added to ground take off, but i see the plane is not be able to lift, and it cannot generate enough thrust to lift it in air. When i see your videos its much simpler but my one is not lifting it up, and don't know why? Should i increase my wing span ? The whole plane is made according to your video and resembles everything same, Please Help! Thank you.

    Will 3.7g servos work on this build? I know most 5G servos are 4.2g not a true 5g. The 3.7g are just a little bit cheaper price. TY
