Next time you design a plane you should make videos on the process and challenges of designing and testing it like you guys used to in the old videos!👍👍
I've been wondering that too. I assume enough of the prop is exposed for it to fly well, but it would definitely be more efficient with a smaller fuselage
@@jeffgrave maiden went horrible at 7am here in western Ma..up,down,left,right.even in low rates i couldn't calm it down.i have the reciever a battery,battery alarm and esc all stuffed behind the engine just to get there cg.I think it still was tail heavy.had to crash.land.no damage.i had to 100 percent throttle or it wouldnt get.much altitude.maybe a combination of tail heavy and prop thrust issues.
I have,spitfires,mustangs,maidened the mini mustang last week.they all flew great.i got to figure this one out.i put cg mark at what they said.but like I said had to put everything in the nose to get it close.
2:03 Hey Josh, my local rc store has said it is not cost effective to get FT builds/product because they have to order a minimum amount. It's too bad because if you could figure out win/win for both parties they could really be good asset for FT community.
We are working on that now. Flitetest direct is our wholesale site that will give them the margins they need. They are most likely going through AMain for our models.
Plus, just asking the hobby shop helps. My local hobbytown didn't carry FT foam at first, bur after I and a couple of peope asked they got some since now they know people will buy it.

My hobby shops in Fort Worth Texas do not carry any FT merchandise at all. The LHS say that FT stuff does not sale and is not profitable to have on hand.
I think it would be great to include info like: what motor, and esc to use. I could see the servo and receiver numbers in the video and you mentioned what flight controller in the beginning of the build. I was going to use the electronics from an old destroyed umx j3 cub but I think it won’t handle the weight and size of the ft mini now that I’m 25% into the build. I’ll have to send an email. You guys should make a complete list of what is needed and put that on the package so I can buy everything I need to finish it when I bought the plane. Props on a great build guide. I was a bit hesitant and nervous but once I got going, I really started enjoying it. I’m not a fan of messy hot glue but I dealt with it. You should recommend glue gun temps because I melted quite a bit of the model.
AND I would recommend using thicker servo rods than the one they use, because the thicker ones will not bend that easily. The ones flite test supplies are too flimsy and can cause problems.
I can't wait for Flite test to design a hawker sea fury... and a mini version. Also a mini spitfire. And maybe a FW ta152. I switched over to freestyle fpv drones for the last 2 years and finally got back into the flite test planes. I ordered the mini zero, the P51 master series, and for long range fpv, the goblin with a GPS, crossfire, flight controller and a 2306 2600kv on 2200mah 3s batteries. Goblin is getting built first because its so easy and I can't wait to fly a plane again. If you want, go check out my scaled down version of the master series corsair I built when the master series first came out. I scaled the plans down to 72%, used a 2306 2750kv, 6-7" prop from a drone I had built. Its a little speed demon
Hi fellows, good morning. Do they use 5 mm foamborad, isn't it true? I would really like to know how they use the drawings for cutting the foamboard, and you guys use a laser printer and how do you get the drawing of the pieces? Congratulations, I like it a lot of their videos and flight demonstrations.
One thing builders should be aware of, the servo horns that John has you modify are deeper than the servo post is high, by about .008-.010...meaning, when you tighten the screw fully, the horn binds on the top of the servo case! I saw this on my build, but my boy did not, and I'm assuming many new builders don't either. Trimming them of course solved the problem, but this may be why I've heard some stories of these servos not lasting - THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED!!
My kit didnt come with magnets or enough bbq skewers and many of the parts weren't labeled as they're referred. I was able to build the plane but found the format of simply following along with a video to be frustrating. Why no material list or written instructions? I thought I'd want to build more of these after this but Im kind of put off
I see two different configurations for the servos, and little or no mention of the battery install... mine has the servos at the rear of the hatch area
Since Josh mentioned trying to help out local hobby shops, I had an idea which may not be viable, but I don't know. What of FT did a hobby shop only plane(s) with free plans, but the kit can only be bought at in person hobby shops, not online. That could get hobby shops a litrle extra revenue and attention from hobbyists who used to only get the kits online and never set foot in a brick and mortar hobby shop before. It could be a cheap kit so stores don't have as much to lose, like a mini FT Telemaster aka Legacy or something like that. Again, just my 2 cents. There are likely some logistical and buisiness problems that I may not know about 🙂
The really big issue with hobby shops I had is the ones I’ve went to have been terrible no offence but they sold everything for super high prices and didn’t know the specs on anything they sell

To say "there are no plans" is to ignore and completely dismiss the, what, SEVENTY other free plans they already have released over the years? Even I don't know what their future plans-plans are, so let's all take a breath and wait for actual info before lighting the pitchforks.

There are several clips during the accessory cover build showing the underside of the wing. Half show the elevator and rudder servos at the trailing edge of the wing and half show them mounted at the leading edge of the wing.does it matter? And which is correct?

I bought this plane flew the heck out of it finally had an accident with it and I snapped the wing went to look for the plans to create a new wing plans are gone. I am so disappointed because this plane flew so well and I had so much fun with it but I couldn’t wait to get it back in the air but I can’t if I don’t have the plans to create a new X one X to X3 and both sides of my wings. I already bought the mighty mini and flew the heck out of that one now it sits on the shelf got the mighty zero flu that one now that’s on the shelf and I want to fly the 737 Corsair again but I can’t I wish these guys would quit taking the plans down if you know of anybody who has plans for this plane let me know please!
@@djsavage2421 from what I understand some unsavory folks have been using the free plans to make their own kits to sell at a lower price and lower quality, and even worse FliteTest gets customer calls about these bootleg kits when they don't work.
Recently I read on a post that sponz(the guy who makes the downloadable plans has just been very busy with other things going on this is why he hasn't released the plans for any of the new master series ,more specifically on his plans index
BEWARE: In this video there are TWO DIFFERENT models being assembled simultaneously like they were a single model. But if you carefully watch the time tag 1:08:03, you'll notice that the elevator and rudder servos are far towards the NOSE of the airplane, while in other takes they are towards the TAIL (like in the kit I bought). This may account for some minor inconsistencies that you may find between your kit and the video. I suggest you watch the whole video at least once before assembling, and then carefully build your airplane while watching the video again, paying attention to possible differences.
@jonahstchur2294 My kit had a code. It said "FT Mini Corsair WRFB FLT-1169", but at the time I couldn't find that code anywhere on the FT Website. I believe it is a v2, though
On “Building and Flying a Giant Corsair”, Noah said it was “actually a scaled up version” of this plane. I think they might have made a few extra parts for the giant! FliteTest, please post the plans for the Giant Corsair!?!?
See I would disagree, the free plans were fantastic for sure, and I've made the Master Series Corsair, and the Mighty Mini Dr1 from the free plans, but, what I've realized in doing that, the materials (cheap terrible generic foam board and hobby grade ply wood) plus the challenges of dealing with those things, makes it absolutely worth it to get the kit, which I will be doing for one of these mighty mini's. If the only way they can keep the kit price so reasonable (along with some of the best prices I've seen for electronics) is to get rid of the free plans, then I'm on board. I still think what they're doing is in the best interest of the hobby, because if they go out of business, then that'd be a huge blow to the hobby.

i am using a Gforce 1300mah 40c battery in mine and a 6x4.5 prop.fits easily.and it screams.but u have to watch for serious left torque roll on hand launch.
It doesn’t look like we are ever getting free plans again, i think flight test should at least make a video taking about them. I have also noticed that its getting harder to find plans for there old planes, i hope the 100 bucks i spent on their foam wasn’t wasted. Heck I would even pay for plans. I didn’t want to criticize because I don’t have the details but it seems ur just ignoring free plans, and are never gonna talk about them.
So bummed out that I have not heard back from anybody about plans for this plane😔. Both my grandson and I bought this plane I had a radio glitch in mine crashed broke the wing and half I’ve been trying to rebuild it ever since kind of hard to do when you don’t have plans that’s why I’ve been asking for plans so that I can rebuild his pain and get it back in the air. I’ve already had people suggest that I should’ve made copies before I put it together blah blah it doesn’t matter you can’t do it that way anyways. If anybody has plans for this plane can you please reach out to me. I would hate to throw away a $50 investment because it actually cost more than that to get it shipped here.

Its just a little thing, but I am SO glad you say " until the glue cools". Hot glue doesn't "dry" like in all the previous videos, lol!

Yes to all of those questions, you absolutely NEED a centering tool!

original mini corsair has to cut the power pod to get perfect CG. that way, the mini corsair will be flying nicely.

It's all about the money. This is their only income, they don't have regular day jobs like you and me.
