    I don't understand why so many people hate the 'natural form era'. I think from all of the victorian fashion eras, this is the most beautiful. I mean, really, look at how elegant, sophisticated and soft the silhouette of this era is. And with those trains OMG! It's just a short phase in the middle of bustle craziness that I think is unique and deserves a lot more recognitions.

    • @bbth667
      @bbth667 2 года назад

      Right? I mean I'm a lover of the bustle dresses, but the natural form dresses are also very nice.

    • @AlexandrinaVictoria1819
      @AlexandrinaVictoria1819 2 года назад +1

      @@bbth667wow finally someone is in my team. The bustle is 'GREAT', like really. As I said above I think people tend to forget the NFE bcs it's in the middle of two bustles, but this is actually a 'gem'. I just love its streamline, long and soft silhouette. Especially with the shallow square (it's actually more trapezoidal) neckline, which I think looks so elegant for ladies' dress. The same goes to 1908/9-1914 with its long, narrow and soft curve. And the 'hobble skirt', I LOVE IT.

    • @bbth667
      @bbth667 2 года назад +1

      @@AlexandrinaVictoria1819 I too love the hobble skirt! Yes, definitely. Very underrated. I think people just love the bustles too much to admit that even without the bustle the dresses are still absolutely stunning. I personally really do love the long, soft silhouette. It looks beautiful

    • @dressed_in_time
      @dressed_in_time  4 года назад +15

      Corset covers could be worn. They’re a totally optional garment. The layers worn are always personal preference. A corset cover can be a nice option if your corset shows through your dress, or if you need an extra layer. If you don’t need one, they’re fine to omit, as they add an extra layer of both bulk and warmth when worn.

    Perfect look. Why do you like to dress like that? How did you get started? What time periods do you range from? I like the early 1800's to the 1940's. We got started buying costumes because I like antique photography methods. So its more about the cameras than the fashion for me.

    since most victorian homes had no or minimal proper closets and multiple dresses of the fashion were not going to fit in an armoir/wardrobe, where did the ladies maids store the lady's dresses? was there a room just for this?

    Where can I buy this dress I would wear it for special occasions and how much would it cost me in usd

    • @katharinajohnson2761
      @katharinajohnson2761 3 года назад

      These kinds of dresses are incredibly intricate and time-consuming to make, so it would be hard to find a decent quality replica. It would also be super expensive, probably around $500-2000 for materials and labor.
      A website that sells cheaper reproduction outfits is recollections.biz/
      It’s a bit hit or miss when it comes to historical accuracy, but it’s pretty nice for costumes and special occasions! One more thing to keep in mind is that without all the historical undergarments, the dress ensemble will fit, look, and move much differently.
      I hope you find the dress of your dreams!!

    The date is wrong this was supposed to be 1780 probably... 1880 fashion (undergarments) is totally different

    • @user-wc5kd7ti5u
      @user-wc5kd7ti5u 3 года назад +11

      Maria Luísa Filártiga Actually, this is very accurate. The undergarments are most definitely not anything remotely close to 1780s undergarments. The shape and style are completely different. This is a very well-done example of 1880s fashion.
