  • Hello everyone and welcome to a new video!
This week, I wanted to show you all the layers that go under the dress I posted about last week. I really enjoy the layering of historical costume, so I was really excited to film this kind of video. I also always feel super cute in historical undergarments (even with the ridiculous 1830s hair!). If you missed last week's video, where I showed the making of this dress, it's linked down below. It's based on an illustration by @chloe.z.arts on IG (www.instagram....) in her series of historical witches. This was the Eclectic Witch, in an 1830s design. The last photo was taken by the awesome Eugene Artjomenko (www.instagram....) on IG. I also have some videos on the making of some of the undergarments, linked below.

I get, like, 1830s Beauxbatons vibes from the color scheme and I love it. Such a great ensemble, and I loved how you pulled your wand out at the end!

very pretty! also, your cinematography is getting better and better (i'm not sure whether you're striving towards something, or whether this is just coincidence, but this video looks extra nice :)

I really love this whole outfit! The trim on the capelet is so pretty., and it still reminds me of the blue fairy in Disney’s Cinderella in all the best ways. Oh, and don’t feel bad…Even the strongest, most self-sufficient witches and wizards require help occasionally 😉.

Beautiful dress! The capelet is eye-catching with the lovely fringe. I laughed when you pulled out the elder wand, I know I tempt the fates and the wizardess.

Your videos are getting better and better, congratulations! And that dress is definetly Beauxbatons 1830 uniform. And love that capelet, so I'm on my way to see how it's done!

That is one gorgeous dress! A tour deforce bit of period dressmaking, I really blown away.
Does your familiar iron? It would be helpful with all those petticoats…

you could go for such a wide-brimmed witch hat with this silhouette without it seeming out of place, i never would have thought of 1930's sleeves paired up with big witch hat on my own

I'm very impressed with your ability to tie bows behind your back. Despite years of wearing an apron, I could never manage it.
On a different note, people always say that depending on how you're feeling that day, you could loosen or tighten your corset. But that dress seems very form fitting, so how much actual give does that dress have? How much of a struggle would it be to hook those back hooks if you needed to wear your corset looser that day, due to bloating or something like that?

    • @svenjaj.3520
      @svenjaj.3520 2 года назад +2

I had to learn to tie nice bows in my back for performances. There is actually a technique, and next a loooot of training to get the muscle memory. But it's easier with some materials.

This is all so lovely! Thank you for showing us.
I’m glad you don’t wrap your laces around your corset. But you have been going to school and researching stays and things, I’m not surprised.
I’m excited that I finally have my own sewing machine! I can’t wait to follow your videos again but this time because I’m waking something similar.
I think a corded petticoat is going to stump me for a bit.
(Also, wouldn’t shoes have been after stockings? Hard to put those on after the corset. )

This dress is reminiscent of the ones little girls were put in, in the late 80s early 90s. I think it's the frilly collar and puffy sleeves.

I would imagine tight lacing, when it was done, would only have been done by ladies; a farm woman, or a working class woman, would have needed all the mobility she could have.

Tight lacing was popularised in the 1850s but most people thought it a bush thing to do even rich people
