Sam Peszek has got to be one of the most underrated gymnasts in recent history. She was so strong all around (sure her bars weren't huge but they were solid) and she always gets overlooked and forgotten and it drives me crazy.
I think it’s because she got injured at the Olympics and we only got to see her one competition routine, bars in qualifying and that was it. We never got to see her true potential at the Olympics.
seriously! and the second half was a standing pike, no less! even harder than a tuck! i really hope elfi was speaking tongue-in-cheek... i've always loved sam on beam. like chellsie, she packs so many difficult skills into her routine. i never quite understood why commentators always made such a big deal about shawn's difficulty but treated sam's skills more like they were something she was just supposed to hit, without ceremony.
I know some people say, “well, her mom worked for USAG, so...” but Sam earned every bit of her spot on the Olympic team through her strong routines on every event. I think some of her skills on beam and floor were better than Shawn’s too.
y does everyone say tht "her beam is IMPROVING" its better than shawns and she has a standing full in it but its in connection with another giant skilll.....idk i just dont understand y her beam is so under rated. its all about shawns i guess.
@peaceluvcheer97 i think its cuz shawn and nastia both have endorsements and stuff, so they get publicity. but id honestly say that sam peszek is better than shawn on beam, floor, and bars! i cant remember wut her vault is like lol but im sure shes great on it too!

Yeah and she was clearly in the top 5 going into the 2008 Olympics. She she had to warm just as hard for that as anyone else.

I agree! I think she would be better suited to flip, flip, layout or something that looks more powerful than elegant :/
