Same problem as one my clients. Luckily I fix it somehow. First, Restart your laptop keep tapping F2 to enter BIOS menu Go to secure Boot and Select Expert Key Management Click Restore Settings and Select Factory Settings Press OK Exit BIOS
my question is how do you stop it from popping up every time the labtop shuts down. this is my issue now, I have the code but its very annoying plugging it in every time I want to access my laptop. its a new issue I'm facing, I've done scans and updates and it's still a poppin.
If you would like to just remove it, you can go the "bitlocker encryption" settings in the windows search bar and tell it to "decrypt" your hard drive. This will remove the bitlocker from your device entirely if you would not like it anymore. You can always decide to encrypt it again later if you would like
I ran into the bitlocker loop, where I'd put in my code, and it would keep making me do it. I tried restarting after, shutting down after, and continuing to Windows 11. I decided the nuke option and factory reset. Luckily, a lot of my stuff was cloud saved like steam games, so hopefully, it'll be ok.
Sometimes there can be a recovery partition preinstalled. Otherwise we do have a video showing how to make a bootable installer for windows and use that to wipe everything
as a former regional windows expert I can confirm that Microsoft sold most if not all systems from my location with bitlocker enabled by default during the release of windows 10.
I have recovery key but when i enter it I get blue screen error saying your device ran into issue ,it asked me to trouble shooting bsod error ,any help around this ?.mine is acer laptop
@@lapfix Hi, no it didn't, it went straight to a blue page on which when I put the recovery key it wouldn't accept it. Later maybe in your video by your suggestion or the other videos, I realised maybe it has to do with safeboot thing! ( hopefully I say it right) I disabled the safeboot thing and then the blue page came and I insert the recovery key and the windows came up. BUT.. the safeboot thing is still disable, is it a good thing? Thanks for taking time.

I took it to a place where hard drive could be put into a third party pc and backed up on my external hard drive. But they called and said that hard drive was BitLocked too and there was nothing that could be done. If they had the recovery key, could it be unlocked and backed up?
My problem is the bitlocker is not accepting my recovery key I have both the USB with the key and have written down the recovery key. My Bitlocker is not accepting any of them. I’m 100% sure it’s the correct recovery key as well.

If your computer was on a domain and in active directory that is where the BitLocker recovery is stored there. If the computer account in Active directory is deleted, as is common if the computer is rebuilt, the recovery key is deleted as well.

Hi. I've just encountered the same problem. However, from the beginning, the security boot's status is enabled. Tried to disable and enabled it again. My DELL restarted again yet it went back to the BitLocker Recovery page. Can anyone help me?
dell has a LOT of security in their bios. There is a setting called PTT, make sure that is enabled as well. If you are still having issues, you would need that recovery key to attempt to get back in. It should be tied to your microsoft account, which can be accessed via your microsoft account settings

If bitlocker is on a drive and you put the drive in another computer, you MUST have the recovery key. No other options. With the key you will be able to unlock it and decrypt it is you want to.

Sure, all you would need is a windows installer usb or disk. You can access it through the boot menu when you plug it in. Again, this method will wipe all your data, so be sure you are ok with that before installing windows

If you don't have the recovery key when it asks you for your bitlocker key, there isn't much you can do. If you don't care about your data and just want to use the computer, you can reinstall windows and it will work
it's not too complicated to find your bit locker code if there comes a time you need to retrieve it. You can always log into your Microsoft account on your phone and access it

I had this problem, but for me, I only had two options present: turn off pc and troubleshoot. I didnt even have the exit and continue to windows option. I failed the mission and had to return the laptop for a better one. I hated that laptop anyways. Just wondering, what happens if you click exit and continue to windows.
Depends on the type of screen. The bitlocker screen will stick to it and not allow you to access the drive. If it is a blue screen it may send you to windows or put you in a loop

If you disable "secure boot" in bios, the recovery code menu should show up

I clicked on troubleshooting thing then powered off my laptop and it just starts working
The recovery key is on the same page as the error message if you read down a few lines but you have to use the number pad.

If you can't open bitlocker, you're automatically locked out of recovery mode.

As long as you know the password and recovery key, it shouldn't matter. I would always make an extra back up of anything you think is very important.

If you can change your windows password, you can find the recovery key.
