Bought this for my small back deck in the Eastern Sierra. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxoHYZbq5g9fkcAtinlTqstNlje-UQkCHN We get A LOT of HEAVY snow so I was a bit skeptical but it was worth it! After the first storm of the year this has exceeded expectations! It throws snow very well, even 10-12” + that said the more it piles up the harder it is to maneuver the machine. It is exceptionally light weight and overall exactly what I was looking for. If you have a large amount of snow and a lot of area to clear, you may consider something with a drive engine to help maneuverability, but for decks, second stories, roofs etc, you can’t beat the light weight to great snow throwing ratio. Side note, the chute rotator is a bit flimsy and it initially didn’t seem to work, after a few uses it seems to have loosened up.
All of the years I've plowed, never had a v plow. Let me tell you, it sure looks SOOO much easier than a straight blade. Hell I would've been in the trees so many times doing what you just did. Hats off to your skill and to the V-plow!
Hey Stan, when it comes to winter tires, we choose up here in Quebec,Canada, Nokian tires as they just seem to grip so well, best snow tires on the market and then I get mine studded to cope wit the ice!
Love the Cooper’s. Been running them for 35 years. Always gotten good mileage and traction out of them. Ran a Western MVP2 was a good plow, never had cutting edge issues, but did have module and wing cylinder issues every few years.
I have been running Cooper Discover AT tires for 12 years on my Suburban and have loved every mile. Put a set on my 17 Chevy dual my and they ride so rough. Been very happy with them till now.
Im just a few hundred miles away (Fargo, ND) and I am so glad we do not get as much snow as you guys.... However, our windchill is usually much lower than the twin-cities area.
I have run nothing else but COOPER ONE IF THE MOST UNDER RATED TIRE . This is all I ran in my plow truck and a few of my cars when first bought them for my plow truck the stuck like glue and everyone wanted to know what I was running excellent tires
I'll have to look into the Cooper Discovery tires for my truck when it's time. I run Cooper's on my car and love them. Thank you for continuing to provide informative as well as entertaining content!
Depending on size of truck, it's a different model. I have a 2016 Silverado 1500, which takes the Cooper discover AT3 4S. Basically a light truck/suv tire, vs the E rated tires you'd see on a 3/4 and 1 ton truck.
Stan, Another great video. I did get the Cat 955 out of the mud. I don’t think that your Jeep and Warn winch would have been enough, it took a Deere 210G excavator to spin it and yank it out. Cheers from Wisconsin...
I was SOOO disturbed by you running the broom across your paint. Then saw the RhinoLiner sprayed on it. For a minute I was cringing because I've sprayed hotrods and bikes for 2 decades. Btw, I do like how your video content on your channel. Keep up the good work.
I don't know what it is it's more fun plowing deep snow than it is dealing with all that little nuisance stuff so satisfying to see it go flying over the blade and I'm glad you're feeling better Stan thanks for good show
Thank you sir.. The t is silent but ya got the rest. As a long time watcher of the channel. Love it all. And this channel and Ur energy have inspired me to get in the lawn maintenance game my self this season and thanks for the the suggestion of lmn I think that will help alot. U rock keeper up.
I just put Cooper Discover tires on my '18 Denali love them!!!! Have always had good luck with Cooper tires on every vehicle I have ever installed them on
The company I work for only use western wideouts and we love em. Only problems we have ever had is the plastic headlight casing breaking and those plastic tabs that hold the headlight in breaking.
As a former fisher/western installer I can tell you the Squeaking noise is most likely your center hinge pin, it wasn’t properly lubed when the plow was put together. I’d recommend cleaning and lubing center pin over summer!
I love my mvp3 I have it on a Chevy 3500 dully and it’s a beast! And yes I agree there cutting edges absolutely blow!!!! I’ll have to look into winter equipments cutting edges.
Love plowing videos like this I always look up high speed plowing videos from Europe with the big high speed farm tractors plowing country roads and highways nothing in the world more satisfying than watch snow rolling off a blade
Good video Stan, I use the coopers on my Chevy I love them ! No customers ,personal use only, for summer I take them off for summer tires, all mounted up so it’s no big deal. And I do the same with my Wrangler swap tires with the season.we use carbide on town plows(part time retired) but we use a backing plate with the carbide. It’s just a regular cutting edge, sometimes the carbide would crack ,their long wearing but brittle.they last all season with backers. Let’s get the mowers out,I’m ready for a change !
Cooper Discovery tires are the best out there for snow, Been Plowing since I was 11, yes 11 (my Fathers Gas station), Im 55 now, I've had them all, Coopers bar none are the best.
Stan always good stuff enjoy your videos been in the snow business for 21 years now and have had several brands of tires on my plow trucks from Goodyear, to coopers to generals, BF Goodrich, Firestone etc..l.also average 30k for mileage a year l live in low and run my fair share of gravel roads ........I put a set of Faulken wildpeaks AT3 and I have had nothing but great luck with them would highly recommend them to you they hook up and eat snow like a hungry dog .... ....l live and die bye my Western...
I use studded Cooper Weather Master Snow Tires on every truck, but I also tailgate load the trucks with 600lbs of lead plates from when we used to tractor pull and the trucks just go wherever you point them !
Dude, love the channel. Always some tid-bit's that no one else has or talked about from basement renos, retaining walls to snow plowing. Perfect channel for an acreage owner. I've got to see you use a lot of different equipment which gives me a good perspective on what to purchase moving forward in my acreage owning years. Side note, In my opinion snow plowing is super challenging but also fun because of that.
Looks like they're working better than the factory Michelin tires that came on my work truck (2019 F250). I just got a set of Kumho Road Venture AT51 10-ply for less than $700. They're doing well in upstate NY pulling a 16ft trailer with 132 hay bales over snow covered grass to the barn.
Great seeing this plow video ! I'm plowing a 5 + Miles of old logging trails with lots of boulders pushing up thru the frozen ground. Yes a real eye opener when you miss a previously placed marker at 10-12 MPH. Using a F 350 dully 7.3 diesel with a Myers minute man V plow. Many thanks JS Northern Maine woods.
The western v plow rattles because the moldboard is slid into a channel at the bottom by the cutting edges and bolted on the top, it’s not welded to the back ribs. That’s what makes the noise. I think that they do that so if you damage the moldboard you can just un bolt and replace that piece instead of trying cut it off or leaving it broken.
I love to plow with my Boss DXT v-plow on my Cummins 5.9L... in the same way you are plowing in this video... I love to watch it flow off the sides... I have a couple locations I maintain that I can do that for about a .25-.5 miles up to 1 mile... always have to float above the ground just enough
I’ve been subscribed for almost a year now and I haven’t seen a video I didn’t like, thumbs up from me every time! Keep up the outstanding work, excited for your future videos as well 👍
I have been using western snowplows for 20 plus years. Never a major Issue. A leaky cylinder here and there. Burnt out a couple of controllers (they got wet cause the operator had the window open) I mount my controlls on the door and use my left hand to operate. Anyway He is not supposed to be smoking in the truck, but. ...Yea they are noisy, cant beat them for ease in hooking up. Never had a V plow but the straight blades and the wide out plows are flawless. I use winter tires also .There is no comparison.I have been using Hankook and Toyo tires , going to have to check out the Coopers.
Well ya just a plow with no snow is working that ford they are poop trucks wait and see the snow I'm gonna push with my chevy dually with a blizzard plow. Bahahahahaha
Think you should put a fisher xv2 on your next truck. Be careful of the newer models, fisher had some trouble with them. I put faulken wildpeak AT3w on my truck for plowing and love them.
Duluth Trading makes some fantastic insulated pants! I love mine. Also, if you get the opportunity you should give the Falken Wildpeak AT3W tires a try. I have them on my Ram 2500 love them in the snow when plowing and when empty as well.
Stan you should look into getting yourself a kinetic recovery rope. I purchased one and it is so much easier in the equipment recovering and the recovered equipment. With one you'll hardly use your winch except for when you're in it deep.
I remember the first video you put out on the winter equipment cutting edges. It was that video that sold me on those cutting edges. I will always recommend them to everyone. I used your discount code from the first video to buy mine.
Cooper discover tires are the best snow tires on the market. Very popular snow tire here in the northeast. Try the Cooper Discover M+S (Can stud if you wish) found them to be better than the AT3.
I have the Cooper Discover ATW winters on my truck and they are awesome! Ive gone through narly snow with them... run them from november to april. I had Discover at3 before but they wore out and got loud after a couple of winters
Stan i run the same setup love my westerns we replace edges every 3 years on average no issues im in SYRACUSE NY so id say we have 160 inches of snow a year if not more im thinkin that the asphalt composition is more abrasive in your part of the country they probably use a sandstone aggregate where in NY we use a limestone aggregate based asphalt
Hi Stan! I'm not much for the tire view from under the rim. I am interested in which snow tires work the best. It is incredible seeing the way the v plow rolls the snow! Oh... plowing to the passenger side in the open areas would ensure your not wading through snow when you get stuck!
Stan, check your model of tires there is a big recall on cooper tires . I run a couple of different models of there tires and they last and grip great.
Whod have thought this would turn into the perfect video to watch while I wait for the taper to finish sanding the kitchen im working on. I like your jeep, its not too flashy but its a good looking vehicle for sure
One thing you could do when you get the blade stuck is drop the blade then shorten the chain then you could pick the blade up higher also you need more weight on the back I carry 7 big sand bags I rarely get stuck.
What are you using for ballast weight ? Western 510 lbs for reg cab MVP 3. When ballast is required it must be secured behind the rear wheels in a manner which prevents it from sliding during normal driving. Ballast shall not exceed 1200 lbs. Western Products offers an optional ballast retainer kit (62849) for this purpose.
Depends on the steel market, but most AR is about 20-50% more than regular/ mild steel. If they marketed your aftermarket edges as the same as the municipalities use, then it was some form of AR steel.
Hello Stan I am 14 teen and my brother has a landscaping business called (Jobs By Jennings) that I help him with. Eventually we want to have a company like yours. Love your videos. God bless and go get them.
I have a mile long dirt driveway here in the highlands of eastern Washington state. I use a Meyer V-66 plow mounted to a 1980 K30, one ton Chevy 4 wheel drive truck with a built 454. I have heavy chains on all 4 wheels with around 1000 pounds of weight in the truck bed. Parts of my driveway are steep in places. I can plow up and down the drive. Been doing it for 11 winters now. I have yet to get stuck and needed a second rig to bail me out. (Knock on wood) By the way, your plow sounds like an empty tin can rolling down the road. Just saying! I did enjoy this video, however!
Stan you put a beating on your truck don’t be blaming the driver when it breaks down the next snowstorm and what do you consider a deep snow around here with a nor’easter it would be 15” or more
I had a set of MasterCraft tires on my GMC they are made by Cooper. Can't remember exactly what kind of tires they where. A guy at work had Cooper's on his truck and the MasterCrafts had the same exact tread pattern. The best part is I paid just under 600 for all 4 installed and that's on 17 inch wheels. Think they where 265/70/17 on the gmc I had.
Cooper st max... Awesome tires. Northern saskatchewan where's it's winter 7 months of the year. Would love to plow in a truck vs quad...but..play time haha.
You picked a bad time to get into cooper tires. Goodyear just bought them out. I fully expect quality control to drop off in the near future, and a full offshoring coming in about 10 years. I’ve run coopers for over a decade, probably 15 sets on my fleet. They are some of the best tires I’ve ever used. they weren’t the best at any one thing, but they were very reasonable at everything. You’d lose traction if you did something stupid, but as long as you were aware of what you were doing they never let you down
Do you have to rebuild front axles in those Fords much working them like that? That's hammering on that front axle in this video plowing like that. We just plow driveways and small parking lots here with normal use and we go through axle shaft u-joints and wheel bearings like dirty underwear. Those Ford front axle parts ain't cheap neither. Not like the old solid axle Chevy's.
Bought this for my small back deck in the Eastern Sierra. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxoHYZbq5g9fkcAtinlTqstNlje-UQkCHN We get A LOT of HEAVY snow so I was a bit skeptical but it was worth it! That would have been a good commercial for western snow plows and ur videos are good enough for me just the way ur doing it

Im just a few hundred miles away (Fargo, ND) and I am so glad we do not get as much snow as you guys.... However, our windchill is usually much lower than the twin-cities area.
The truck and plow handled that snow like it was nothing great video thanks for keeping us entertained
Thanks 👍
Glad the coopers work for you. Never had any luck with them. I went with goodyear duratrax and never looked back.
Good to know...how much did that cost you?
I ran wild peak at3s things were awesome only time I lost traction is on sticky wet snow
Stan my father was a locomotive engineer and loved busting through snow like you. Keep rocking brother!!
if they ever have awards for filming u guys would get many...Great job Sam

without the catalytic convertor the ford sounds like a high school kids truck that he wanted to make louder but couldnt afford an exhaust 😂😂😂

Im also shocked how fast you drive while plowing these back roads, does going fast make it easier? Is it not rather hard on the truck?
No love for the Mountain Dew?! LOL I always enjoy your enthusiasm for equipment. I'm the same way
Cooper discovery tires are great. We use them on 26 of our work trucks and they get 50k miles plus on them and great for Texas black land mud.
Looks like they're working better than the factory Michelin tires that came on my work truck (2019 F250).

Bought my daughter the Planet Fusion Complete protein Vanilla bean!!! She loves it bro thanks for the tip!!!
And I love your Vids.
I have the cooper discovery at3 on my 17 Durango Drove down a highway to work in a blizzard and they were phenomenal
I have cooper discovery AT3 on my truck and love the tires. On the second set of them and well out lasted the bfg that were on it when I bought it.
Little tip when your pulling a stuck truck out.Leave some slack and yank that thing out.Saves burning up your tires & it's much easier.
I love to plow with my Boss DXT v-plow on my Cummins 5.9L... in the same way you are plowing in this video... I love to watch it flow off the sides... I have a couple locations I maintain that I can do that for about a .25-.5 miles up to 1 mile... always have to float above the ground just enough

i run cooper discoverer atp on my truck, have no complaints what so ever. great looking and great performing tire!
Good to hear!
Think you just sold me on some tires for my truck. BTW, I figured either you'll break something or get stuck as soon as you mentioned taking the jeep.
Glad to help...and u r probably right👊

I ran Cooper Discoverer AT3 10 play tires for awhile there really good. I've now switch to Mickey Thomson Deegan 38 10 ply tires

You definitely worked that Ford hard on this one...

Heck yeah👍
@@Blackjack_focus_st3 no.. bahaha
@@Blackjack_focus_st3 a dually plow truck? Have fun with that.. and whats wrong with the super duty? Those trucks are solid
He cut out the part were the ford died on the way home lol
A good bit of kit to keep in your 4x4 is a snatch em strap.
Good idea...like the way you think!
Nice video! 600-900 lbs of ballast behind the rear axle would make a world of difference in both performance and blade height when lifted.
Think you should put a fisher xv2 on your next truck. Be careful of the newer models, fisher had some trouble with them. I put faulken wildpeak AT3w on my truck for plowing and love them.
I'm a big fan of your videos! I'm with you. I don't mind being in the cold, but I don't want to be cold. I'm in So Cal, so what do I know lol
NICE!!!👍👊
Nice video Stan! Your cinematography is really very good. The edits are well done. Love the music, too. The wall is lookin good! Thanks for posting.
Love the Suspension shots of the Jeep!!

Duluth Trading makes some fantastic insulated pants! I love mine. Also, if you get the opportunity you should give the Falken Wildpeak AT3W tires a try. I have them on my Ram 2500 love them in the snow when plowing and when empty as well.

I was pretty dang impressed with how much snow you could push and how well those tires hooked up on the F250. Great video.
Stan you should look into getting yourself a kinetic recovery rope. I purchased one and it is so much easier in the equipment recovering and the recovered equipment. With one you'll hardly use your winch except for when you're in it deep.

Cooper discover tires are the best snow tires on the market. Very popular snow tire here in the northeast. Try the Cooper Discover M+S (Can stud if you wish) found them to be better than the AT3.
After trying out a set of used coopers that came on a set of wheels I bought for my truck. I don’t think I’ll ever run anything else!

Western plows are tough, that's all I use on my trucks, and I also have had almost no failures at all, maybe a worn out wire harness plug once

I love the Cooper AT3's had them on several trucks. It would be a hard sell to get me to try anything else.
Northman had the best setup on cutting edges. Bolts down the middle of the edge so when one edge got worn, flip it and wear the other edge.

Stan, check your model of tires there is a big recall on cooper tires . I run a couple of different models of there tires and they last and grip great.
You should get some kinetic rope to go in that Jeep. Works better than a winch in some situations. Matt’s Off-road Recovery uses them to great effect.

Stan you put a beating on your truck don’t be blaming the driver when it breaks down the next snowstorm and what do you consider a deep snow around here with a nor’easter it would be 15” or more
WOW! That's a bit of snow!
Ford is a good truck, great video
You got that right!
I gotta say that’s a good looking Jeep. It looks like it could have handled some snow a little deeper with out any problems.
So you like the Cooper Discoverer?? You would certainly be the expert on snow tires. What do you think of the Goodrich TA KO tires?
Art
Cool shots from under the truck.
Cooper st max... Awesome tires. Northern saskatchewan where's it's winter 7 months of the year. Would love to plow in a truck vs quad...but..play time haha.
I love my fleece and flannel lined carharrt pants they are amazing
You picked a bad time to get into cooper tires. Goodyear just bought them out. I fully expect quality control to drop off in the near future, and a full offshoring coming in about 10 years. I’ve run coopers for over a decade, probably 15 sets on my fleet. They are some of the best tires I’ve ever used. they weren’t the best at any one thing, but they were very reasonable at everything. You’d lose traction if you did something stupid, but as long as you were aware of what you were doing they never let you down
kepe up the great work stan! Happy Wednesday, have a great rest-of-the-week!
Thanks, you too!
Have you guys ever though of getting some kinetic tow ropes? They make recovery so much easier and save damage from having to 'snatch' the truck out.
Thanks so much for the shoutout
Really loved this video...keep them coming lol
You are so welcome!
Not like the old solid axle Chevy's.
i like Cooper tires been in a cat 5 hurricane and multiple others with my coopers no problems
