Freeman would be dumb not to use that ranking as bulletin board material. It’s not just saying that Notre Dame isn’t a top 30 team, it’s saying that Notre Dame would lose to ALL of the following: Liberty, Iowa State, Virginia Tech, etc.
It is are looking at each guy on this team and saying “you aren’t good enough to play with the big boys”- Marcus Freeman needs to bring this up throughout the year and light a fire in the belly of every guy on the team. Bring it out right before the A&M game and tell the boys “the media says you’re trash” and push them to knock A&M so hard their program will be sent spiraling for years.

Fun times talking about the best states to recruit for the Irish. I went to the old Blue & Gold yearbooks, and found the last year ND signed someone from Alabama was in 2003. Linebacker Mitchell Thomas and DB Labrose Hedgemon.

Marcus Freeman is an excellent coach. The program continues to improve. I would argue in the BCS, ND ranks around #6 over all the years.
I think he built his list based on conferences to align with the CFP and just forgot to add in Notre Dame

To reply to Tim about NDs placement. Does it matter at all ? To explain, I am not a Fla. St. fan at all but how they got screwed out of the playoffs because their QB was hurt was terrible. It is a team sport, understandable that the QB is crucial but guys even going to 12 teams in the playoffs we will still have controversy.
Thanks for the comments. Placement matters because it's all about are you hosting a playoff game being seeded #5-#8. FSU did get hosed last season without a doubt.
