Notre Dame football show: What's next for the Fighting Irish? Riley Leonard, notable injuries
#notredamefootball #GoIrish
Well that show was something lol
Denbrock was the majority of the blame for the NIU game ….. didn’t utilize our core strengths or identity correctly in his play calling . Didn’t close out the game properly .. didn’t want to win by 1. Agree with Tim 100 on NIU and Leonard . Tim is the most knowledgeable of how a winning Notre dame operates and what it needs to do to be successful. Singer is a masterful player predictor and explorer of talent on the recruiting trail . Goolsby is a fighter and insighter of player development and physical strength critiques and defensive individual performance educator . Great crew
LMAO
Thank you for the supporting the shows and joining in the chat with everyone.
Agree with Tim. Purdue vs NIU was a difference of Mindset
Always about getting your mind right. Thanks for the comment.
Mike is 100% correct with his takes on Leonard
100% with Tim Hyde. And we are in the minority. It is disappointing to see because the expectation is that we have a Heisman level QB and we haven’t had one in many years.
Good show, lads. I think every week will present a different challenge for the team; however, I also believe that there is enough versatility on the roster to meet these various challenges. When you can run for 362 yards, why would you put the ball in the air 30 times? You do what it takes to win each week. If Leonard threw for 362 yards, some folks would ask why they weren't running the ball. There are some really great young men on this team that play with a lot of energy and enthusiasm, and I still believe they will be fun to watch this year as the season unfolds.
Gotta go 100% with Tim on this conversation about Passing Offense. Take what defense gives you. Riley is not the thing holding the offense back all by himself
It’s mostly him
He is tho can’t read the field or throw it accurately past 5 yards. He had Collins wide open for a TD in the first half. The offense won’t be able to win games running the ball or the short passes against good teams
@@zachcolson7504 then how did michigan win a national championship last year doing just that …?
@@dragotx21 first off they had an actual head coach and a qb that got drafted in the first round. And McCarthy completed 72% of his passes for 3k yards and 22 passing touchdowns. Leonard can’t do that. If he could we wouldn’t be having this conversation
@@zachcolson7504 u understand passing yards count as yards after the catch correct …? A 5 yard pass to a running back that breaks away for 75 yards equals an 80 yard pass completionzz
What you're saying about Pyne isn't nearly the same because he wasn't a running threat. Say there are three threats a QB can do, short passing, long passing, and running. Leonard can do 2/3 just fine and there are serious doubts about the last. Pyne could only do 1, which makes it very easy to defend. It's just not the same situation.
You take Riley as your QB everyday over Pyne. Thanks for watching the show.
I understand Tims point however not every team is bad as Purdue. As a team like Notre Dame we need the ability to make those versatile throws. If we do make it to the playoffs a playoff team like bama or georgia isnt gonna let us run 5 yard check downs that turn into 30 yard yacs every play. I think Leonard is a great kid in all but as a team who expectations so high we need that ability on offense that leonard doesn't have. Unfortunately are weak schedule wont be able to prove that theory but if we do play a big school I think are scheme and Leonard will get expose. I hope ND and Leonard can prove me wrong though. However I do see the great ability to run in riley hes definitely one of the best at what he does in that remark.
and another point to add on I feel sometimes Leonard has tunnel vision when throwing. He focuses too much on one player rather than reading that open receiver.
Thank you for posting your thoughts.
Hyde says Orlando Pace is on our team! Sweet!
Ohhh I love that comparison.
Singer we were 11-16 first half for over 100 yards. That is not “ terrible”. Don’t our runs count as explosive plays
Tim also right on NIU call. Was 2023 OSU deja vu. 2nd and 1-run the ball and eat 2-3 more minutes
@@mfnflyw16 You are correct in ND not running the ball to chew up minutes & the game vs. the Buckeyes & now NIU. Thanks for posting your thoughts.
Is your twitch free singer? If so I'll check in 😆😆😆
Yea
You will have some enjoyable laughs....Go Irish!
NIU completely abandoned Lou’s 4 game principles:
-be most physical team in the stadium
-be most fundamentally sound team in stadium
-be team in stadium that plays with most effort
-be team that most plays for each other
Shockingly that was NIU in all 4!! I love Coach Freeman but somehow neither he nor his staff effectively communicated that for NIU. Complete failure of our vaunted “ culture”. But, look forward and Win!!
Great points on Holtz. Onto Miami-Ohio and come ready to play from the 1st snap on Saturday.
Holtz got a lot more out of his players than any other ND coach in the last 30 years.
Hey yo start Steve Angeli then use riley Leonard run and red zone packages
Thanks for the comment.
ND stood on business 🧑💼 now can they run the table I hope so
Freeman has had 2 5 game winning streaks. Making the playoffs means ND has to win 10 in a row after the NIU mess. 1 week at a time.
Tough Schedule in 2025
I disagree with Tim no matter what the call is it’s still the QB job to read the defense and throw it to the open guy. Just because the coach calls in out route if it’s not open should you still throw the ball there Tim?
Riley was getting the ball out quickly vs. Purdue, and those were the proper reads. The same was being done at A&M. The last INT vs. NIU was a badly(beyond badly) underthrown ball, but I don't think the read was bad.
2025 was always supposed to be the championship year. ☘️
Year 4!
As long as they don't make same mistake as this year
Name a team that won the national title with a QB not capable of throwing downfield
Michigan ran the ball
It does seem a little hypocritical to praise McCarthy & shade RL whn Tim gav stat 14 gms >200yds..&1st rd pick.. sorry that's a mistake too. Scheme the opponent with this roster & jus win out.🍀🍀🍀
I was responding to a comment in the chat about how he had 14 games under 200 yards passing, and they had success. I agree with your point about scheming for that week's opponent.
Well for clarity, isn't Weigman out because of injury?? Timmy gets a lil wound up for naught..lol😂 🍀🍀🍀
Yes he was and the offense didn't suffer with the running QB leading the offense.
@bobhaas5948. Very true because Lou reinforced those 4 principles every week no matter who the opponent was
