This is highly addictive.
I swear that woman's eyes SPARKLE on stage.
AND she's a great actress. So rare in the opera! She's the whole package. Kudos, Ms. Damrau.
Wolfgang A.Mozart would surely stand up in front of this spectacular performance......He would have loved so much this Lady :-)
The best Queen of the night I've ever seen and heard
Am I the only one who thinks O Zitre Nicht is even more beautiful than Der Hölle Rache?
heaven must be an infinite loop of this performance
I saw her queen of the night at the met a few years ago and was astounded that it was a better performance than any I've heard. Her voice was clear, perfectly focused and quite powerful! She also manages to sing such ridiculous passages and still stay perfectly wicked, both vocally and dramatically, no mean feat!
This is as close to magic as mortals can get.

Wow! she's perfect for this role. What a gorgeous sound. Many singers who take on this role only have the facility and high notes, but the sound can be thin or edgy. She's got a beautiful fat round sound. Glorious!!!
her final coloratura was so moving. she was really into her role: crying and laughing hopefully and desperately at the same time. No other coloratura soprano has done like her: getting really into the mood, soul, and meaning of the song
We were allowed to show the rest of the class our favourite music so i choose this
Because shes the best
I love the way her scheming almost gets the better of her in the coloratura bits, almost betraying her mischief in her glee.
Superb.
I love everything about this production. Damrau simply shines here. She's a fantastic queen. If not the best, one of the absolute best ever! Her outfit is amazing, everything fits perfectly, her makeup, her flawless technique, stunning voice, acting...bravíssima, Diana!
I keep on going and listening to others that people say are great but I keep on coming back to Damrau, I suppose she is my preferred queen of the night, but I suppose she as also the first one I listened to and you never forget the first
She gives a huge '' in your face Mozart. I nailed it!''
It's really highly unusual to find this level of completeness in an opera singer. If I concentrate in the vocal part, some other voices come to my mind with more strength. But considering the whole performance, this is absolutely superb.
this is the best Queen of the Night. didnt realize it until now really...i always look for her singing the part when i want to listen to the arias.
4:24 lol lost her composure there for a sec (simply fantastic acting when you lose your composure AS your character). Marvelous.
Oh I just love Diana Damrau! I don't know any better soprano opera singer.
+A320fan In this role, nope. Unsurpassable
The costume is a masterpiece!!! *_*
the best Queen of the Night ever!!!
The best queen of the night actress.
Plus, truly incredibly singing:-)
A superb actor and singer, Diana Damrau!
Long live the queen!
she is the best...amazing voice.
Superb!Fantastic! Damrau, costumes, stage set, everything. Metropolitan Opera NYC.
I have the priviledge of owning this DVD. No boring moment. Each singer is a fantastic talent, in their own right. Take nothing away from the other singers. Diana evokes such pity in her first aria (O zitt're Nicht). Her - combining that voice with her acting - is simply breathtaking. She could give many a Hollywood actor a lesson or two!! Her aria Der Holle Rache, is so awe inspiring that I find myself "on her side". Absolutely hypnotic, stupendous from the Queen of the World
The costumes and set design are absolutely gorgeous! It really makes it an all-round performance rather than just watching someone sing...And as for Diana Damrau, she's completely mesmerising!
Her physicality is gorgeous. Such bold choices.
Utterly astounding, a seminal operatic performance akin to the legendary Los Angeles concert performance by Pavarotti, Domingo and Carreras. Pitch perfect throughout and emoted superbly. I regret never having experienced this in person.
The Queen is a signature role for her. The best Queen of this era and on par with the greatest Queen ever, Edda Moser.
El video favorito de mi hija de 1 año 6 meses, saludos desde chile.
What a royal entrance! Goosebumps!
Damrau has an amazing characterization of the Queen Of The Night. I love it!
wow, I'm speechless...she's amazing
This is the best performance of the Queen of Night I have ever heard. Beautiful, dramatic!
There's two of us. Here Diana Damrau makes of all the fiorituras mean something. They finally make sense!!
perfect acting ...wonderful voice !
She is simply flawless, peerless, unique.
"Oh, zittre nicht, mein lieber Sohn" ist eben keine reine Bravourarie.
Ist es nicht erstaunlich, wie ausdrucksvoll sie diesen "Weibsteufel" spielt und singt und dabei ein lupenreines Deutsch zeigt? Einfach grandios!
Her performance is stunning, musically and dramatically. An all-time great.
Certifié intergalactique! Diana Damrau est le meilleur "Reine de la nuit".
Overpowering, mesmerising, unforgettable ! ...... simply the greatest performance I've ever seen and heard .
Simply the best Queen of the night I've heard!!!
Ojala un dia pueda escuchar a Diana en vivo. Seria feliz!
Stunning.Best recoded version of all time IMO.
I agree with you !! So many emotions appear through this aria ! and the coloratura is just breathtaking !
She is absolutely phenomenal; and that high F! :D
This aria has the toughest coloratura ever and she sings the hell out of it.
The best ever! Full-bodied voice, interpretation, intonation, inspiration! Yes! Das beste!
This is beautiful
from about 3:13 to 3:30 is heavenly. Seriously. I mean, I love the entire aria (the passage at the end is amazing) and particularly Diana Damrau but that passage really touches my soul...
I love both singing this and hearing it sung. It's just a blast of coloratura fun and manipulation. And there is no better Queen I have ever heard than Diana Damrau.
Love the way she hits the 'ja'
Ah....................This mix is a heaven for me.
Damrau is a magnificent queen of the night, both in singing and acting.
Thank you very much Lilith. I collected the other parts too. "O zittre nicht" is one of my favorit parts. Not only for singing, but also for her great acting during the whole aria. She reached the grade of perfection!
Unearthly, magic.
her voice makes me cry..mozart and her voice combined..what else could go wrong?
ho i brividi!!!!! meravigliosa!!!
Glad you like it ^^ The quality should be better, full HD, but youtube was being mean to me and I had to upload the HQ... I will retry the HD, let's see if it works at some point :)
E impossibile non innammorarsene ..... Diana simply fantastic.....
oh my god, i looooooooove this woman !!
The best! singing and acting! Chapeau madame Damrau!
Diana is the one and only Queen of the Night
You are correct. "O Zittre Nicht" is beautiful and very demanding in it's own right. This role is so hard to sing because the 2 arias are different but very difficult. The coloratura run at the end of "O Zittre Nicht" is to me the most difficult run ever written in opera.
This is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!
The best performance!
her final coloratura is so moving. she was like laughing and crying hopefully yet desperately. It brings me to tear whenever I listen to it
this is the best quality video I've seen of this aria
She is simply perfect! No more, no less!
Expressive facial expression.
I've always loved the section from 3:35 - 3:38. It's so funny. You, you, you!
That's really great!
Thanks sister for your helpful knowledge !
Diana Damrau is perfect
Ach helft, Ach helft! gave me goosebumps
Absolutely fabulous.
мое самое любимое исполнение этой арии! самая лучшая певица!
This woman, Diana Damrau, is great! Plays the psychotic yet in complete control of perfect vocal technique. BravissimaQ
very gooooooood!!!
clap!clap!clap!
Divine Damrau!
Thank you, Lilith89ibz!
The best Queen of the Night ever!!
I'd say that they're so different, that they're hard to compare... Both beautiful in their very own way! And her performance is brilliant in both cases, singing as well as acting, so... ;-) Both a real pleasure to watch, time and again!
amazing begging and end to this song amazing
You dont even have to understand this to like it
Perfect!
thank you!!!!!!!!
I love this!
You are welcome ^^ I'm happy you enjoy it so much! I certainly do too.
Bravissima!
:: goosebumps. everytime. ::
Amazing! :D
she is one of my favourite queen *_*
The Bette Davis of the Opera. Amazingly evil. I adore her.
impossible to be surpassed!
I don't know either, but I have ripped the DVDs in 720p HD, and I actually uploaded some excerpts of interviews in that quality. The file of this video I have in my computer is HD, but I had to make the quality a little worse so youtube wouldn't crash before finishing the upload *sigh*
I Agree with you too!! I thought I was the only one who thought so!
It is called projection...Being an apprentice myself, I still lack of potence, but yeah, we do not use any amplification...
My pleasure :)
Excelente!
