Blackie O'Connell is a world-class Uillean piper. As well as being a full time tutor at the University of Limerick, Blackie regularly tours Europe, the USA and the Far East but is also very much at home at his local bars in Ennis or Doolin. Here he chats to Eugene about life as a Irish musician during the COVID 19 lockdown.

Brilliant Piper
We've been to Doolin three times and all three times we've seen Blackie and Cyril at McGann's and McDermott's. All three times were completely mind-blowing!! Packed pub and everyone having a fantastic time listening to the amazing music made by these two fine and super talented musicians. We adore Ireland!! And we are mad for trad music. Blackie and Cyril are indeed the perfect combination and where the term “the whole is greater than the sum of two parts” was never more true. Both extraordinarily gifted musicians who have given so much joy to people from all over the world and leave us all with lifelong happy memories.
