All 11 points are definetly true but HIGHLY exaggerated (other than construction, housing, and air pollution). Traffic and parking here is significant better compared to most other major metro cities. Sure, the Great Salt Lake isn't great for recreation but you have access to about a dozen other beautiful and fun lakes north and south to you. Also, if you work in SLC you can commute from a handful of great cities that surround it, especially North Salt Lake, Bountiful, and Centerville.

I do need to mention that the entire state of Utah has a little over 3 million people living in the entire state, just Salt Lake City itself has only a couple hundred thousand people, the Salt Lake Valley has about 2.2 million people but that is a few cities within the valley itself. Salt Lake City does not have 3 million people

Visited salt lake for 2 weeks. People are super friendly, weather is nice traffic & construction aren't bad as others city's. She should go Dallas so she can see what a bad city looks like. Where construction is actually horrible & crime is high.

I can't argue with anything she said . . . but the truth is, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else but Salt Lake City. Seattle (where I came from before moving here) is positively a nightmare compared with SLC -- just in terms of getting around.

I grew up in Provo so I do have favor that area. Plus I have a personal story of my close father getting cancer and passing away in 2015. A lot of my memories of my father are in Provo/Orem area so I have personal reasons to favor that. But, one of the things this video left out is a question I had asked myself for a while; Why is most of the famous musicians that came out of Utah are all from Utah County area?
Guitarist of Imagine Dragon's from American Fork, their singer went to BYU where he wrote their first hits. Brandon Flowers of The Killers is from Nephi, Utah. Neon Trees is from Provo. And the lesser known of them The Used is from Orem. And even further back in history there is The Osmonds. In my opinion it is because there's more of a closer community and networking system in Utah County compared to Salt Lake. Because between BYU and UVU being less than 2 miles apart that breeds a better scene for upcoming bands.
After my father passed I moved to Huntington Beach California. I worked as an Uber driver there all over Los Angeles and Orange County. I have been back in Utah since September of 2017. I have been the SLC area due my job. But, I am in the process of moving back to Utah County. One of the reasons I don't like the SLC area is because it reminds me too much of Los Angeles in that it has all the negative things I didn't like about California and none of the good things.
And the scenery in Utah County Like better because the aspect of the cities being sandwiched between Utah Lake and the Timpanogas, Lone Peak and Y mountains. They're much bigger and majestic than the SLC mountains. And SLC has way more crime and pollution. And as I have worked in SLC I have noticed people here are more negative; especially if a person is conservative Mormon they don't get much respect here. Overall I just like the slow-paced and peaceful vibe of Utah County that you'll never get in SLC.

Sounds better than most city's. Honestly I've watched several SLC con videos and nothing is glaringly bad. No lottery. That's a weird concern. I don't drink or gamble so this sounds great. If marijuana is illegal, I'll be in heaven. So tired of smelling pot everywhere and on everyone.

There are about 1.2 million in all of Salt Lake County. Three million in the entire state. Traffic is kind of bad at rush hour from Provo to Ogden. Nothing like LA, though. Temps range from 107 in the summer to about -5 in the winter, but those are the extremes. While the ski resorts at 7000+ feet get a lot of snow, the city gets much less at 4300 feet. We’re all disappointed in the Great Salt Lake (pretty to look at, but that’s pretty much it), but nearby lakes and reservoirs make up for it. The actual city of Salt Lake is more diverse and liberal than you would think, and one of the most LGBTQ+ friendly in the country! How do I know? I’ve lived in SLC for 60 years.

Sounds like paradise compared to Houston..
    Traffic? Check
    Parking? Check
    Construction 24/7? Chhhhheck
    Smog? Check ola
Dirty "beach water"? Super check. (The gulf around Louisiana and Texas is disgusting)
Cost of living? Eh, can't be any worse probably even the same. Check
But can you see stars at night? I bet you can in SLC.
Not only is SLC gorgeous with plenty of outside activities. But you can drive 4 to 6 or 8 hrs and see almost all the best locations in America.. Yosemite, mt Rushmore, grand canyon, Monument Valley and so much more..
Coolest thing 9 hrs away from Houston is... new Orleans, yay.
