14 Days Solo Camping in the Yukon Wilderness - E.3 - the Adventure Amps Up!
Step into the next captivating chapter of 'Hart of the Yukon Solo' with Episode 3! Join me on a relentless journey down the creek, where surprises and challenges await at every bend. As we continue this extraordinary adventure, the wilderness reveals both its beauty and its tests.
The creek's path ahead unfolds, and a newfound hope arises. Could the recent hot temperatures have breathed life into the waterways, perhaps melting more snow in the mountains? Negotiating the creek's tight bends becomes a thrilling dance, each turn demanding precision. An encounter with a treacherous sweeper tests my skill and determination, a reminder of the fine balance between conquest and humility.
The journey leads me through shallow, braided sections of the river, a realm of crystal-clear waters. Here, Arctic Graylings gracefully glide beneath the surface, a mesmerizing dance that connects me to the heart of nature. Their rise to feast on insects paints a portrait of life's delicate interconnectedness.
And then, a sight that sparks elation - the majestic Hart River emerges before me. A triumph of timing, as I arrive just in time, securing the essence of my mission before the creek's life force fades in the heat.
As the sun sinks below the horizon, camp offers solace and sustenance. With fishing line in hand, I cast my hopes into the waters, embracing the rhythm of the wild. Come evening, a campfire crackles and a campfire pizza sizzles over the flames. It's a celebration of survival, a testament to the connection between humanity and the untamed.

This is a dream. A dream for me as a gold seeker!"
As a RUclipsr, I know what it means to show so many camera angles. Walk every now and then. Especially when you go away in a kayak. Thank you for his efforts. Very nice
Greetings
Paning for Gold
Tom
You and me both my good friend. That fishing pole of his is a vital tool. However, 10 hours downriver begs the question, how much gold did he pass by?
Can you imagine? I know I can!
Thanks for sharing this with me.
Watched every second of it.
Greetings Joseph.
@@GreenMountainGoldTrapThats a dream, and WE only came a few meters. Loocking for gold and enjoy this beeing together... greetings Tom
@@Goldwaschen-mit-Tom If we were there, we would never want to leave. All we would need to do is make friends with the Grizzly bears, and we would be all set!
@@GreenMountainGoldTrap ✌
Awesome stuff Tom! Best of luck in your panning.
You are the best Adventure & Surviving man .wow.👍🌿🥰🤙
Totally beautiful there.Always thought I'd see it in person, but at 64 probably won't.Young people- Do it now, don't procrastinate!
@@soniadowney7427 64 is young, when your legs still work
44:11 Man, that is livin'! Such a happy moment to be out in nature, fish frying up and enjoying an ice-cold beer!
Funny too.. Ive been eating oats for breakfast for a year now.. Gilles eats porridge, riveting scene 😊
All I can say is this is my happy ❤️
My good lord what amazing country!!!!! I don't think I'd ever leave!!!!! 🤣
I see why you hungry for the yukon mountains Great video great audio
You hoss food like no one I’ve ever known; no fucking around, just gettin’ at ‘er. Good on you, Jimbo.
If anyone liked that song playing while Jimbo was canoeing (@16:58) , it’s called Living and Dying, by Joshua Hyslop.
You win, Jim, nobody puts a video out like you do.
They don't have a chance. You could be on the discovery channel easily
I so love these solo expeditions, Jim. Breathtaking scenery and awesome soundtrack. LIKE BUTTON SMASHED!
Would love to see some of the artist listed. Loved some of the music.
I would love you to watch you to climb one of the mountains on the side of the river!
looking forward to the next episode. Well done!
So nice to see you making pressed coffee with the natural water around you. No one else will ever have this same coffee taste. There is no coffee place in a town with clorinated water that can produce the taste you experience with that fresh boiled stream water. I am tempted to gather fresh stream water from the creek at the end of my street and boil it for a better coffee flavor.
Eeh gadsden don't do that, beaver fever and giardia, crypsom are bad enough in nature but if your around humans it's 40% worse!
@@akomni-vr5gt for coffee the water is always boiled first.
I needed this video today. Thanks for letting me tag along in the wilderness with you, bud. Yaaaaa!
Really takes a mind off the problems etc of life
Honestly man, the porridge looks so good. Love camp food
Super. Enjoy all the beautiful struggling.
Thank you Jim, I absolutely love your solo adventures ❤

Thanks Jim ...for taking us up there...what a beautiful country we have....the mountains scenery is amazing...bit of a slog thru the shallower section...but so worth it...can't wait for the next episode take care✌️
Almost like tv though with all the ads! Great job Jim, thanks

Hello Jim .. you make good videos, so even more serious documentary programs don't do it as well as you, Keep going and best regards from Alberta . 👌🍷🤠💕🍀🍺🌿🤙
Yahoo! Yukon Jim!
Wow, incredible scenery.. Wish I was 20 years younger.
This scenery is stunning. I think I say that on every one of your journeys, but there is something special about this one. Pristine.
Thank you for this beautiful scenery. I wish I could paddle this once in my lifetime.
Greetings from
Germany, Matthias
DEFFENETLY AN ADVENTURE! BEAUITFUL SCENERY!! NOW YOU GOT THE FLOW GOEN!! JUST CURIOUS, JIM, DO YOU HAVE AN EXTRA, PADDLE???? MAN, THAT FISH DID LOOK GOOD!! Do take care. Fl.
I did in deed have an extra paddle. The other one is longer and more specific to intense whitewater. I also know how to make a paddle out of a log.
Oh wow glad to see you used a number three Mepps spinner. My uncle used to call that his wireworm. One of his favorite lures and mine.😊
The kano videos from Jim in the Yukon are the best. They are my relaxing from work videos. Nice destressing.
Awesome to hear.
Ya made it. I think Buck was watching over you. As he always does on your adventures.
Been watching for years! Due to health issues I can't go on adventures. I'm another lives vicariously through your videos. I watch other RUclips videos as well. Including your brother Ted. Keep up the great work! Love videos with Wesley and Hudson! Love the dad shoes comments. Hilarious! Keep us laughing Jim! Hello from Phoenix, Arizona!
Haha, will do man. Thanks for the support…and for giving us Austin Matthews.
There is nothing like that frost anchor beer. Thanks for taking us along with you.
Like the name frost anchor
Great Job Jim! Love your channel. Cheers.
Beautiful and great as always, I use to guide rafting expeditions in east Turkey and Ethiopia back in the day, our one main role was ,Never say anything good or bad about the river or wether, the minute you would say "What a great whether we have today" it would start to rain for 4 days😂

What a day! Loved the underwater footage of the greyling!
Beautiful scenery, those turquoise pools looked amazing.
For real I couldn't get over how beautiful the water was !
Yeah. Hey Baird Family.. I’m here ❤❤❤
And the award goes to ...meditation with Jim Baird! ☺
Jim, you're the best adventure channel on YT. Not even close.
Jim, you make some of the best content on youtube!
Such a relaxing view to watch great work this is just hands down awesome
Jim,
I'm curious as to what people up there think of you?
Do they know who you are, or do they think this guy is going to die or get lost up here ?
Mike.
These are by far the coolest adventure videos on RUclips
Jim I admire you and Ted you two men are modern day mountain men.
Great video. Excited for the next one. Like your saying saids: Yeah baby
Of all the many canoe skills and techniques you have demonstrated over the years, Jim, the bouncy bum technique is by far the best 😂 !! Hey, if it works, why not!? Love it!!
Always love the scenery on these trips, too! Spectacular!!
The view and the drone work was breathtaking. So glad I could come along.
Just stumbled upon your channel. Very impressive content scenery loving the moments spectacular, yukon absolutely beautiful. Love from Montreal Canada 🇨🇦
loving the series and the landscape the mountains remain spectacular , Nice to see you made good time despite the rocky waterway, yet clear and untouched by pollution so lovley . The mouth of the Heart river WOW very nice looks like a comfortable camp area with the grass . Dragginng the canoe before hand would have sucked ,but you made it safely thats the important thing. sounds like the beauty shall continue looking forward to it , I am happy your bringing us along.
Beautiful country…..nice job!
Дуже файні місця. Фантастичні краєвиди.
This is so excellent, Jim... I've paused it at 17:44 mark, only to add that the music, the drone footage, all made me become very emotional. My late husband, spent time in the Yukon before and just after we were married in '69,.. he loved it up there. Take good care of yourself and your beautiful family...
I don't have the opportunity to do things like this, so I watch your channel fulfill my love for nature and adventure.
Thanks!
Just wow again, thankful as always for taking us along on your adventures!
You’re very welcome
gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!!! that water colour and clarity was so beautiful. Another epic day in the canoe.
I apologize for not commenting and liking earlier, but Ive been waiting a bit so I can binge as many of your videos on this expedition as I can!
Awesome and no problem, I’m glad you’re liking it
Jim I can watch you everyday you showing us so much, beautiful places you go, thank you for sharing the video and take care.
Incredible. Loving every minute of it. And the music you have chosen is so appropriate. Thanks Jim
i never get sick of these yukon trip vids
Damn Jim! Totally loving this series. Some of your best stuff ever!
Thanks a lot!
Jim, I really like your commentary about strainers. They can look very benign, but getting stuck on a strainer, especially in such a remote location, could end the trip or pose real danger. Keep up the fantastic work!
The Yukon is one of those places where the only way you can see most of it is from a plane or in a boat...or on Jim Baird's channel. Its so beautiful.
Thank You Jim sooooooooo much
You’re welcome!
Great day for a beer, cheers!
The colour of the water in the north is mindblowing
As we approach summer in New Zealand, I look forward to exploring the rivers nearby. I take my two boys (9 &. 12) along, in tandem with the younger. Correction - our little Jack Russell (Wena) makes it a threesome in my kayak 😂. We strap on the tents, the fishing rods, and the kichen (bucket towed on the back) and all other necessities. So good to get out amongst nature. Quality times ahead. I watch Jims content all winter (my winter) to keep me satisfied while we wait for our summer. Thanks for keeping us inspired and entertained Jim.
This place is magical. Thanks for taking us along with you.
Love your videos. I don't understand why you don't have more subscribers. Some of the best content on you tube, especially when the family travels with you.
Hallo Jim! Eine sehr schöne Video-Reihe, weiter so! 👍👍👍👌 Schöne Grüße aus Sachsen, Germany! 🙋♂💪😎
Nailed it! Been a long time since I’ve had kokanees. Thanks for taking us along Jim !
You’re welcome!
I enjoy your morning coffee, along with the scenery and your ongoing dialogue! Please keep producing your videos as I am no longer able to do such activities I can close my eyes and envision I am there! Thanks for sharing!
Another snapshot of a great adventure. Keep them coming Jim. Won’t be long you will have to retire the canoe for a snowmobile 👍. Be safe buddy.
Jim Baird’s riveting pizza creation with mountain stream chilled beer…..I would give up society for one of these dinners.
Amazing scenery thanks for working so hard for our entertainment!
The amount of work that you put in that we don’t see must be overwhelming at times. The camera work, from placing it everywhere to get the shots, from setting up the drone and packing it away and the countless times you carry it to show us every aspect of the adventure. Then comes the editing and more editing and more editing !!! The work that is required to get the finished product is incredible and much appreciated by us. Keep that shotgun handy dude, a brown bear can be on you in an instant, even when you’re on the water.
Well said !
I'm a southern 75 y/o dude who paddled the Quetico lakes in Ontario over 50 years ago, so I have a tiny bit of understanding of the beauty and vibe you are experiencing in this amazing video. How you film all this just baffles me. Well done and thanks!
Tripod and lots of back pedaling
so perfect pulling out three random kokanee… cooling them in a Yukon river. They couldn’t ask for a better endorsement ☺️
Watching again….really enjoying details this time!remarkable story structure to your adventure
I really appreciate the shots of you floating downstream away from the camera, I know the trouble you go through to get them!
Haha, indeed. A lot of pulling over and climbing out, then Walking back up river to collect my camera and tripod.
I'm pretty sure you went to heaven on this adventure! The hop hahaha. Thank you that was beautiful.
I love living in Ontario, with all the outdoor pursuits it offers, but damn, the Yukon is really special. Myself, I will never make it there, so I really appreciate what you and other folks do, and make it possible to be there with you.
Sorbet celebration after your lighting installation! Your van has had a makeover. Looks awesome!
You are living the dream my friend. I am sure there is a fair amount of work that goes into these videos but what a great way to live and work.
I love hitting new areas, as a Kayaker that fishes and camps along the way you give me drive to keep going out, and since episode 1 of this series I got inspired and will be headed out this Sunday for a week long adventure in the Smokey Mountains, trout and rapids in the higher elevations and eventually working my way to lower and slower areas for Smallmouth, spots, largemouth and whatever else the river offers. Getting up there in years and still at it, keep doing what you do, pass along your knowledge to the kids as it was my father that started me on my life's journey in the outdoors, and I can tell by your love for your kids they will be enjoying the outdoors for their lifetime on this planet. Thanks for all you do, and never stop!
Feeling the magic 👍😎🇨🇦💫💦🌊🛶🌞🌊
Cold beer in the backcountry, that’s living my friend! I know it’s your job but thanks for sharing & I hope you never stop visiting the Yukon!!!
Hey Jim the water was low but it was running very fast, so glad you made it to Hart river and great food thanks! 👍👍👍🤩🤩🤩💯💯💯
Jim I think this trip has the least amount of Bugs in the trips you have taken and that's a WIN, I Love these remote trips such nice country thanks for the Video's of GODS Country.
Wow Jim you did it again and your singing just what we need enjoying yourself and making it look easy take care😅❤
Jim, you have more problems with low water, than big water! :) Can't wait for the next episode. Keep on paddling.
So, Many Stories to Tell & To Share !! ~~ T.Y. For Bringing Them Home to Ones Memory !!!
You are The Best !!!
Loving the videos! Dragging that canoe through the rocks had to of sucked!
Heck yeah!!! Couldn't wait for the next episode. Thank you for all your hard work and for taking us along. This is epic!
Just absolutely beautiful, great shots and story. Thanks for brining us to this stunning place and also for the tips on cans - pack it in, pack it out 🙌 sometimes it just takes a small reminder to help everyone keep those thing in the forefront and do the right thing ❤ thanks Jim, very much enjoying.. as always.
Just gorgeous waters, and my favorite type of river….a little bit of a challenge, with awesome scenery.
Your a lucky man my friend .
Jim your videos are always inspiring, what a beauty trip!
