Welcome back to another installment of "Hart of the Yukon Solo." In this tenth episode, I continue my canoe journey down the magnificent Hart River all alone and share an unfiltered look at the wild, untouched beauty of the Yukon.

I navigate through challenging whitewater rapids in this one and the river's thrilling twists and turns provide an authentic perspective of this untamed environment. My encounter with a majestic moose adds a touch of wildlife wonder to the episode. It's a humbling experience to share the riverbanks with these magnificent creatures.
Things take a contemplative turn mid-way through the day as I find myself captivated by a stretch of majestic cliffs that line the river. The sheer scale and grandeur of these natural formations inspire moments of deep introspection, connecting my spirit with the unspoiled wilderness that surrounds us.
As the sun sets, I set up camp in a secluded spot, immersing myself in the Yukon's serene and pristine wilderness. The day ends on a high note as I prepare a warm and hearty meal over an open fire using a tripod I bushcraft. I cook up a simple yet satisfying rubaboo stew, combining split peas, canned corn, flour (as a thickening agent), carrots, mushrooms, and homemade pemmican that I prepared at home before the trip. I liked your spiritual reflections on the might and beauty of the hills. Canoeing is no more a sport for you. You are older and can reflect on the nature of things.
Love nature as it shows off creation, so my favorite section is going around the bend or curve landscape. Will be putting that gizmo (BLUETTI) on my wish list for the holidays for sure. 🥰😍🥰

Jim, seeing you with a rope for belt hurts me greatly. You know the negative comments from the fashionistas, will be coming in soon. When you described the serene, yet powerful view of the towering mountain range, I said to myself "I get it". I knew exactly what you were talking about. I've been to Yukon and other equally impressive surreal sights and it does connect you spiritually with your inner self and a higher being. Can't describe it but you put it so well in the video. I get it.
Please add more days to your trips!!! These rushes to complete are easily avoided.

I've always called those berries a "Dewberry" here in Saskatchewan. The plant usually only produces one berry, but the leaves (and berry) are very similar to a raspberry. They are extremely delicious!

I have enjoyed all your video's but really like the long 10 day trips in the far north. At age 77 I would of never be able to see this part of Canada, "the second largest country in the world", after Russia. Thanks for taking me along while I set in my recliner drinking my morning coffee.

Thanks for another video. I'm shocked how this is the first time you've burnt your ground pad on camera. Glad you were emotional at that spot. Totally get ya. It's why we go out there. There are countless emotional spots (some greater than others) that add up to an emotional trip. I believe you can get this on group trips, but there is definitely an experience that is wonderfully unique during trips alone. When I see a seagull I think of a large parking lot. I liked your lunch spot too. 🥳

I know that feeling Jim when you're out in such epic wilderness I think that feeling you have is an overwhelming feeling of insignificance when you realize how very small and vulnerable we really are when compared to the scale of nature thanks for the trip through such awesome country 😊

I wonder if the river isn't a little bit higher than when the map was cartographed and those rapids were boulder strewn and more difficult. There's a small river near hear that is a class 3 when the river is high and a 4 when it's low. P.S. I knew 2 kids that drowned in those rapids at different times. Always nice to catch a couple of Grayling to kill those cravings- Thanks Jim

Liking the side hikes in this video. Add a day to these trips if possible to allow times to show us more of the boreal environment, fishing, hiking. A few big labels on the maps would be gratefully received. Great content.

Nice, ya they’re called bake apples in Labrador too. When I was in Blanc Sablon, Labrador before jumping over to the Northern Peninsula, some locals we met gave us a jar of wild back apple jam. They’re picked a large amount of them. In return, we gave them some home made maple syrup.

Spectacular wildnerness area love how the landscape changes as well as the river and mountains the further you go, so surreal the mountains in the smoke look like painting's so gorgeouse. Loved watching you maneuver the rapids with such skill, really enjoying this series sad that it will end soon , Real nice seeing the moose along your route, Seen them lots in the north but something about the moose that I love.
