- In this video you come along as I have a look at 2008 Chevy 1500 that came in with the air bag light on and a code B0084-00 stored in it for the front impact sensor. Super common problem that can usually be figured out with just a visual inspection. -Enjoy!

Thanks for opening the door for us Mrs. O :)
I"m waiting for the swim suit edition.
Mr. O, I've enjoyed all of your videos. Thanks for taking the time to make em. That last video with taking Mrs. O to the junk yard and all was fantastic and hilarious. Thanks
"Reminds me of my teenage years" LMAO...that was classic!
I'm a retired ASE Master tech have my own shop for years in Huntington Beach Newport Beach Costa Mesa...
I watch your videos and I'm impressed..... My granddaughter's watch the show and they're both signed up to go to Mitchell tack in Mitchell South DakotaMarie was a great inspiration for them saying if she can do it they can do it and they would like to have their own shop and I would sponsor them with a shop so keep up the good work and you have a wonderful wife that works with you and alongside of you and the kids keeps everything going smooth...
I like your honesty especially when it comes to state and and all the kids say hi my two granddaughters Ashley and Amber love to watch your videos
The stealership in Northern Alberta wants $400 CAN for each sensor. Yes, each. Just for the parts. Great video and thanks for taking the time to make a video.
"reminds me of my teenage years....." Perfect deadpan!
my question is. Why was he removing those abs sensors in his teenage years? ;)

The impressive thing is that sticker manufacturer. Not torn, faded, still there, yet easily peeled off.
Excellent work Mr O! It's nice to see someone who does the job right and will do it again if necessary. I recently discovered your channel and was immediately impressed by your work ethic. As a mechanic myself for more than 40 years I can say guy's like you are few and far between and if you were in my town you would have a job at my shop in 2 seconds flat anytime you wanted it! I also had an opportunity to watch a video of a single mom becoming a nurse who was in need of a good car. Excellent job giving her the car. My heart goes out to you and your family and the youngsters. I thank GOD for putting you where are for this purpose. GOD BLESS YOU MY FRIEND. 👍👍👍 !
"Thanks for watching".... No thank you for sharing... Everydays a good day when SMA pops up in your notifacation box...
It's 68 here in Georgia today! After 60yrs in NY I'll never miss those winters? Good video
It's 64 here in Nevada and the winter is the only good thing about cuomostan. Notice I said winter and not roadsalt.
Backed my wife's 97 Chevy Astro van up our driveway due to snow forecast overnight. The following morning she decided it would be best to coast down the driveway instead of using the brakes. She bottomed out at the end of the driveway setting off both airbags. All parts were discontinued so I had to replace both airbags, impact sensor, and the module (code was latched) with wrecking yard parts. Fortunately all part numbers were identical and she was back on the road a couple of days later.
I wish MY old airbag had a warning light on her so I could leave the house before she explodes.

Years ago actually purchased Dorman replacements for around $99 each and they appeared to be oem from Singapore repackaged in Dorman box. 4 years on and still functional on Tahoe TLZ.
U r lucky. The wallet with wings.
Same here - they were in a Dorman box but they had the GM logo molded into them.
It's nice once every blue moon when a job actually goes smooth. Glad you had a good day bro.
Rust and corrosion win every time!
Thankyou Mrs. O for opening the door. Quick and easy diag. Nice work. Must be gold plated everything inside!
I so enjoy watching these pre-pandemic videos. A much more innocent time!! haha FUN!!
That's a pretty garage door opener you've got there.
The sensor light is just to periodically let you know it was working all this time up until now. "Think about all the good days we had together" -GM probably
200.00 each????????? WTH
Please add more to your line of drilling tools in the way of drilling bits. Also those sweet low-profile sockets but have them fit in the corresponding wrench size.
Used to take those from the wreckers cause they would just get scrapped.
Sell em for 25.00 bucks each used.
Bet your shoulder sore after that one
Love ur vids
Making people smarter one one video at a time.
Good job Eric quick and easy
Trying to think when the last time I heard a Mechanic use the word "suffix".....Never! LOL.
Great video and thanks for all you do! Jim.
that sure is a pretty garage door opener
I agree lucky man. Good thing he found someone to help with his wrenching (heHe)
A bit noisy though.
I got tears in my eyes when I saw you using that green brick . Nothing wrong with your video of course and a correct repair as usual .
Nice quick diag and relatively simple (although pricey) fix. Much to be said for experience as much as fancy diagnostic tools. You "knew" what it was before you even pulled the code. Nice work. The only thing I'll say about the glimpse of Mrs. O on the garage door opening is that it's always a great reminder that you run a family, neighborhood business. Well done, sir.
I learn something new each time I watch this channel.
Not to buy GM, Ford, or Chrysler products??
Honestly there is 10 gm products to every 1 Toyota, of course your going to see more repairs on gm products. Heres a secret they all are Junk!
Just did the same thing on my 07 Sierra, looked even worse than that one, by the time I took the screw out there was no sensor , only dust. Enjoy the videos, keep it up. Only wish you out this video few days earlier, put in Dorman as replacement, doh.
Welcome back to the Chevy repair channel. Since GM is not selling many reliable vehicles, they've changed their business model to make all their profit on parts for older models.
That's a hell of a automatic garage door opener
I was thinking the same thing
Looks like a common problem. Can’t believe what they charge for them?! Nice work Eric.
On my truck, I changed the same sensor, with same code. Also said front right. Only to find the left front was swollen with crud, and light didn’t turn off after changing just the one. Changed both and presto! All fixed!
Great video - could watch this guy diagnose problems all day long. Thanks so much for sharing!
I replaced one of those on my 2008 Malibu last year... not crusty here in Virginia, it just stopped working. I put in the GM part too... I've learned my lesson using generic parts for things like this.
You are a wealth of knowledge, you the man!
I always enjoy hanging out with you Eric. Thanks for the video. Hope to come and visit you sometime
I see that you have the "deluxe model" garage door opener! =P
I am watching Sonic The Hedgehog movie, and your blue hand moving fast made me think about the movie.
At a previous work place our code for "The boss is in" was "The airbag light is on". Thanks, Eric.
Too funny, lol
"The chair is against the wall". "John has a long mustache"
We used to call out...the white shirts are coming..
I just changed the speed sensor in the transfer case of my 96 blazer. I remember when all you needed was a vacuum to shift gears.... Ahh the good ol' days.
Freudian references always observed....teenage years....I am amazed you are still standing!
Good job as usual! Never took me that long as a teenager.
I had one of these on a '08 Sierra a couple years back. That truck had a whole list of issues, from bad u-joints, bad ball joints, hub bearings, and GMT-800 series axles in the 900 series truck (stretched to the MAX, lol - yanked the boots right off), plus an ABS unit full of green pus. The sensors on this one were so bad, it tore the label in half!
I bought Dorman ones, since his bill was extreme with all the work I did. The Dorman ones looked IDENTICAL in every way to the OE ones I removed - made me think Dorman was manufacturing them for GM. That wouldn't shock me ... but, the light went out and all was well. They were half the money of OE.
Great video (as usual), I especially liked the 'how the circuit works' explanation.
My 2005 Suburban has the airbag light on.... this is perfect timing! Thanks #SMA
Very well. Joe at Joe's Auto Electric loves Dorman parts as much as you do.
I think Mrs O would like a garage door opener system to come with your new lifts and alignment rack!! LOL Keep up the great videos Mr O
I love my 2005 Chevy Silverado!
mr, O wish you were in Massena. What a great video as always. Thanks and keep up the great work
This is a common problem in gen 1 silverados too so right back to 1998, but I personalty have had pretty good luck with the aftermarket sensors, mind you i try not to crash them, but the codes dont come back.
LOL! "Reminds me of my teenage years". Savage.
Had that on my Yukon Denali. My super cheap blu Driver code reader read it, said what side it was... Said the most common fix was "replace sensor"... so I did. I wanna say I got it for $60 off Amazon??? Older truck though, it was an 04. But it was a GM part, came in a GM box, looked just like the old one... worked! Fixed it for years, till I sold the truck....
My old one looked just like yours... Hahahah! Very bulged, showing signs of not goodness.... the Wisconsin north woods is not easier on trucks than the greater Buffalo area.....
Hope you love your SK X-frames as much as I do. Don't use them to hold things with an impact on the other end. It will rattle them apart .
Cost me over $400 to replace one on my GMC Sierra a couple years ago. $150 labor to do one bolt and one connector!
Lunch with SMA. Awesome.
Super helpful, great video. B0100 = mouse chewed thru front left sensor wiring. Spliced, now, OK!
A spritz of the Fluid Film and ship it! Thanks Dr. O!
Glad I found this video. Even if it's few years old. The service airbag just popped on on my 2010 silverado. Looks like an easy fix but I'm gonna have to try to apply for a bank loan to get it fixed. Lol. Ive been doing some googling and every one says dont drive it cause airbags won't deploy if you're in a wreck. Well what's the difference when I had my old 85 ford F150 that didn't have airbags. That a safety issue too? 🤔
I've swapped them, cleared the code, then rechecked if the code changed. Easy way to find out which one is shot or you're chasing something else as the culprit. Turns out these Silverados also have paper thin wiring all under the seats. If you, gasp, move seats forward and backward often for whatever reason, it can, dare I say will, eventually make one of those wires break. So good luck if you have kids and have to move the seats often to get them into a car seat. Brush up on the soldering skill.
You gotta be the fastest wrench slinger in the East!
Talks about aftermarket being junk while literally replacing the OE because its broke in half lol. Gotta love Eric.
Also includes previous 1999-2007 classic models as well. My previous 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 had an intermittent air bag issue. Truck was totalled before I got it fixed...fortunately air bag still worked as intended.
wow, chevy keeps them mounted low and in the elements. Just checked the Tundra, mounted just behind the headlights, still looking fresh lol
There's your problem lady.. I find myself saying this a lot lately, thanks to Eric..
Eric,
Great video and fix- thank you. I hope you and your family stay safe and healthy.

Would you PLEASE get that wonderful woman a few garage door openers?!
Thank you Eric. Have a blessed and safe week.
Thanks! I really needed a video that isn't an infomercial for Holley or some hair loss lotion.
Haven’t even watched the video and I already gave it thumbs up 👍🏼
Mauricio De La Cruz I do that all the time. Never been disappointed.
I do the opposite on Shoddy Kilmer videos.
Thanks! I needed this info for my 2007.
Oh yeah, new SMA!!!
Keep Up The good work 👍.
I'm a huge fan of your videos 😉
Fixed my Duramax today. 1 airbag sensor in middle of radiator bracket. Not 2 like the 1500’s. B0103 code.
Now we know the secret code to open your garage door (lol). Thanks for the video...
Great job again like always
U gotta get those auto garage doors. They just put one in at my dealership. They are wicket fast and awesome.
From what I have seen here in Western Australia, the newest crash sensors from GM have a stainless bolt and sleeve..... not that we have major corrosion issues
If I could change out the modules on my s10 like that, I would have. GM no longer has them in their database. Same goes for my Abs system.
As always Dr.O got the patient back to good health 😊
One thing about dealing with OEM is when you go in to buy a part take a jar of Vaseline to. Lol
My truck has been making my front impact sensors bulge, bust open, and get crusties all over it. My opinion is that all 08 GM trucks are junkyard quality at this point, between the FPCM and other common issues.
The north east is kind of rough on stuff, that’s an understatement LOL
For a VW you would still be removing the whole front of the car to get to the sensor.
I just did a head gasket on a mk4 1.8t jetta. Basically took everything off and i only broke 3 vacuum lines.
@@Legoguy1979 - I did an oil pan on one. Total nightmare. Whole engine cradle / subframe had to get unbolted except for the rear 2 bolts, and lowered. Then I STILL had to battle to get the thing out of there. I HATE VW, lol.
@@SmittySmithsonite I especially hate the engine mounts and timing. Those never go on easy.
I loved driving my TDI Jetta, BUT. First nail in the coffin: had to special order oil for the oil change. Second nail in the coffin: special order oil for the DSG transmission. Third nail in the coffin: front bumper cover, both headlights, radiator frame, can't remember what-all else to change the A/C condenser. I just can't find a way to get along with this lil' gal so she's all spiffed up and up for sale.
I know what i'm getting the next trip to the salvage yard. :)
Good job Eric.
Yeah some have 2 different impact sensors that could be installed hence you need the original part number. See it often where a shop buys the cheap one and it needs the more expensive one of course. Believe one is considered a active impact sensor where as the cheaper one isn't.
Was hoping you'd dig into the TPMS issue. I believe I recall you have a video on that... anyway, all the sensors read "fine" according to the tire shop guys, but they want to replace the front two to be sure.
Great Video! I learned something New about them sensors. Thanks! 👍
Forget new lifts. You need a garage door opener!! (Not taking anything away from Mrs. O’s ability. :)
with remotes, just clip on one your pocket and go-go-go
I lean so much from you
And Eric aren't you supposed to open the door for your lady? We just watched her open the door for you beep, beep but we still love you both. 😘
There's your problem lady!
cold February morning ??? delay must have been due to that teenage yr reference...lol. great vid as always
Bro, my airbag light came on yesterday and I put a brand new sensor in and still have an airbag light. My buddy says it's probably something to do with the computer and I put one of those in and yet I still got an airbag light! What is wrong with my truck bro???
All my parts were brand new from Amazon too!
I know you can tell me what's wrong...don't worry I will wait for you to drop everything to tell me what's wrong with my truck.
😂😂😂👍
Really need a SMA sticker!!
So if the sensors are bad like these were if you were in an accident would the air bags deploy? Just curious lol! Thanks I enjoy watching
$200 EACH! Geeezzz Louise - I’m heading out to the. U-Pick with a 10 mm wrench to harvest some of those puppies to sell so I can boost my retirement fund!

Good idea!!

Are they VIN coded?
"reminds me of my teenage years....."
Hehehehehe. I got that joke. Be careful you can go blind.
My seeing eye dog typed this reply.
Just do it long enough till you need glasses.
" LUBE JOB NEEDED "
Hey Mike have watched your channels and learned alot but on this one i have to disagree with you, i have had a course on this many years ago and the instructor we had made it know to us just because your light is on does not mean the system is disabled, if you look up on pro demand under description and operation then air bag indicator it states, the presence of a SIR system malfunction COULD result in non deployment of the air bags it does not say the system is disabled , just wanted to share this with you ty
Just another thing to worry about with my 2011...looooooovvvelly
The quality of your videos is excellent. Where did you learn how to make training videos?
Hey love your videos keep them coming I'm on cape cod between salt water and winter's we run into alot of the crusty rustys not sure if you have done a video on suspension noises squeaks clunks my weakness in diagnoses have you used chassis ear tool will you see this comment lol where you get all your experience before opening shop
You hiring lol I can't find a decent lube tech in this area or they want 20$ to start with and want to borrow my tools with no interest in buying any of there own
