this video save my life, someone set up my linksys access point by enable the access point DHCP and used the same main router IP adress. with this video i manage everything by myself
I bought a new Gigabit router today, and wanted to replace my old CISCO Linksys E900. This video helped me to use my Old Linksys E900 router as Access Point. I exactly followed the steps as explained in this video and my home setup is working. I have now connected my two laptops to the old E900 router though 2 LAN cables, able to transfer large (about 7 GB) files between the two laptops at 11 .2 MB/s, in 9 minutes, which is good enough use of the old router. Thanks for this video.
Thanks so much! This is the only video I found with such concise and easy to follow instructions specific for this router as an access point for me to get wifi into a home dead spot (my garage workshop). Awesome! I like the AI voice because I wouldn't otherwise understand a kind presenter who has a strong foreign english accent.
This video was exactly what I needed - thanks! So many other videos out there on setting up an access point, but this one was the simplest and it works. Straight to the damn point Thanks

Yes! Works! Thanks!! When walking from the room-with-my -router (aluminium roofing) to the room with the Linksys (old WRT) router I see the signal drop and come back to 'maximum'. Strange though: Fing on my iPad reads it as 'Linksys Access Point' and on my iPhone as 'Residential Gateway'. My providers interface just calls it '??' I also connected one of the Linksys LAN-ports to connect my Asus media player (fow which I already had a cable running) to conect to my NAS sitting next to my (main/real) router.
Thank you so much for such a concise and informational video. I am trying to add an additional network (network #3) using an old linksys wireless router to existing network, and looking for instruction to do so. Can you point me to the source of the information?
Hi, Really a nice work but i have to ask one question please. is it mandatory thing to keep same wifi name and password for both routers? what will happen if we choose a different name and password.?
I have Cisco Linksys e900 and I want to use it as an extender. My main router is Nokia router. My qn: is it mandatory to keep same name/SSID as Nokia router? How would I identify cisco is extender ? I named cisco different to make it identical rest information I kept as you mentioned. Now the problem is I am not able to connect cisco wifi
Thanks mate, the only problem is once I save these changes, I can never access the router settings of the access point again. Is there any way to access the settings? In case I wanted to change the password or SSID? If I type the IP I set into the address bar, the connection always times out.
Question: After setting up the new AP will the other unused LAN ports be active as well? I actually ran a cable to my garage where I set up this AP and would like to plug in a desktop, TV and XBOX in the other three ports (making a small man cave in there) but I am uncertain if it will work. I could run the last two devices listed off of the new AP's wi-fi, of course, but I would prefer an ethernet connection to the desktop.
its not possible to connect 2 routers wireless ? i need it to connect my PC from 2nd router if routers connects only with cable i would just put it on pc :(
Wait.. at the end, you have to connect the two routers with a cable? Huh? Doesn't that defeat the entire purpose? My access point will be far away from the main router.
The configuration will be still there once you click apply. Even if there is an outage.BUT if you press the reset button, it will change its configuration to default
i was wondering that as well but with this setup it should be "seamless" and transfer you between automatically so i think you should probably put it on auto for the channels.
@@avrilmonropachecopaule1953 put your main router on ch 1 and second on 6 or 11 for best performance. Choose one of 1,6,and 11, these are best channels.
OK, thanks for the video. But one of the things i need to do is have devices connect wireless to the new AP. How will that happen if DHCP is turned off, won't they have to connect to the original router? If so, that is still too far away. Please suggest alternate solutions and thanks!
"DHCP turned off" means that your main router will assign an IP to your wifi connected devices instead of your AP. AP will only extend signals of your main router.
Is there any solution to connect router-2 through wifi of the router-1 and extend? It's kind of wifi extender and to avoid LAN cabling in-between these router.

Basic things for people who knows it already networking principals. For lhe newbie, can't get easier than that. Well done and explained. Congrats!
was expecting it to work as a wireless accesspoint
The configuration worked very well, I needed to link this router to the Fortigate60E firewall of our company, easy steps.
Thanks, the- only video i got my Linksys E1200 to work as an access point.

Haven't disconnect the ethernet cable how we gonna know working wireless on Linksys

In my believe NETVN will build one day satellite bridge for home Wi-Fi network
Thanks for your info..Its a repeater of first router..
What happens if give the access point a Different SSID than than the main router?

Had to rewatch this video because I redid my network panel….Just to turn out it wasn’t working because I was plugging into the LAN port lol.
This really worked. Very good
thanks ,well explained
You are welcome!
Will this work with E1200? I don't want to spend much as I only need extra 3 LAN ports and my ISP's router has only LAN1 enabled.
I have a modem and a router. Would the AP stay hardwired to the router or the modem?
I have the same question. I have my AP wired to my new router and I think it works lol I really have no idea
Thanks for help.
Happy to help
Hello. What model of this Linksys router? Can any Linksys router be used as an access point? Thanks

Thanks a ton, exactly what I needed.
hello can you make a video with the e900 in bridge mode?

I will try!

Hi, everything works perfect, but now I'm afraid the electric power will go away or change its place and lose the changes, I can do it Thank you

Can't the Linksys router be an extender for the first router, but only via Wi-Fi?
Did you manage to know how ?
How to connect extender without cable?
perfect. thanks.
Hi got a question do i need to change the channel
i was wondering that as well but with this setup it should be "seamless" and transfer you between automatically so i think you should probably put it on auto for the channels.
If your modem and also your main router is channel 1 maybe your 2nd router that is your putting to it should be channel 1 also it depends in your isp
For whats the best isp

Hey Everyone. One question that I have not seen is, Can I give the Access Point a different SSID and Password?

You can use a second router as a repeater, but it won't be as good as what this video shows.
Yes you can connect two routers wirelessly through bridge/repeater option but it will only be useful for small radius
@@technopoots How to use it wirelessly as a repeater ?
Wireless 'sat-things'.. I thought it was 'set-tings'😂
thanks

I try it many times and I don’t do anything

'Link-cease' router??? 😂😂😂. All this time I was pronouncing it 'Link-sis".😢😂
Nếu router chính của mình địa chỉ 192.168.1.1 thì đổi địa chỉ AP thành như thế nào bạn ? Xin cám ơn !!!
no wires, useless
The access point must be wired.. Can't be wireless
True. for wireless use bridge method
