    Put the Bat down Negan! I come in peace. Really good info here and lots of visual! Very precise. Appreciate you brother! Blessings and cheers from Motown/Dearborn.

    That guy really does look like Negan. Anyhow great video. I was having a problem with a fuse blowing for the radio/ signals in my 73 Mach one. I installed an old spoke wheel similar to the Grant. I checked everything then I decided to pull the wheel off and it fixed the problem. I'm missing the plate that makes contact with the Horn and it was grounding out when I turned the wheel. Thanks..time for that new wheel with the proper kit.

    I just today discovered your series of videos, looking forward to watching them all!! I want to upgrade my 67 to the 68 collapsible column and another video says to use this exact steering wheel, I have all of the parts now. Just need to get the car to this point because it's in hundreds of pieces right now. Your video is extremely helpful!

    You made it look very simple. I am going to be doing this on my 65 Fairlane soon

      The toughest part is pulling the steering wheel the first time with the puller. Once you get that the first time you won’t have any problems.

    Those dimples on the horn button can wear out over time. If you cannot get it to tighten I recommend replacing the horn button and hub with a GT3 style from CJ Pony Parts. Great video!!

    Here I am again. The halo lights I installed came out great. I used the relay harness and the no splice harness I believe I bought from you or you sent me in the right direction to get one. I'm putting a new wheel in, the 16 factory wheel was just too big. The 14 I got is going to make me do the electric power steering a lot soon I bet LOL. Thanks for the video man.

    Good stuff. Im currently putting my 68 back together. I couldnt make up my mind between a grant and my original 68 steering wheel with a woodgrain insert. I decided on the original for now but may use the grant later on.

      Personally I like the 65/66 steering wheel. I had one on this car but the horn didn't work well with the 67/68 turn signal cam and I found this steering wheel at a good price. It was actually unfinished and just raw dirty wood. I sanded it, stained and sealed it to a nice finish.

      @@CMOSX nice. Love it when i find good deals. Ive been buying stuff for my 68 for years now, its crazy because of how much prices has gone up for a lot of this stuff so i feel my past purchases have been well worth it.

    SOB! I just put on one of these on my '65 Mustang and as soon as I connected the battery I had a huge short circuit. I took it apart and found that the the copper plate on the hub didn't have a break in it like yours does, so the sliding contactors complete the circuit, bypassing the horn switch. Manufacturing mistake. And yes, the cap design is crap. It will fall off in no time. Overpriced PoS .

    67 and 68 are completely different, depending on when in 67 your car was made

    ya, and if you dont have your car wheels facing poker straight and you also dont pay attention to the new steering wheel going on straight also....then your gonna have to re-do the whole thing again. Nothing worse to me than a crooked mounted steering wheel. VERY IMPORTANT STEP !!!

    Was there a spring under the original steering wheel? I have a 65 and it has a spring. I'm wondering if I use the spring or not. The instructions don't show a spring

    Love that steering wheel and thank you for this great video! I just bought my wife a 65 Mustang and it has horn issues that are keeping me from getting it inspected. Do you happen to have a part number where you got the turn signal/horn switch from? I may need to replace mine. Your video is the first one I've seen that easily walks through how the aftermarket horn works. I wish you would have shown the spring install, but I can play with that and figure it out. Thanks!!

      There's a signal cam in the column that controls the turn signals and the horn.

      I've gone back and watched your video a hundred times as I try to troubleshoot my hors and what's going on with them, but I'm watching your video mainly to see how that Grant steering wheel installs. I've got the same kit, and the same issue with the center cap. I have the same original center cap you do and the same fitment problem, so I ordered a new center cap from Amazon and the same stickers as well! Hoping I can figure out why both my horns aren't sounding and get this thing running!

    What aftermarket horn button did you go with?

  • @davekarr7151
    @davekarr7151 2 года назад +1

    I had a grant wheel just like that several years ago, nice looking wheel but it was too thick to hold therefore I was not happy with it. To each his own, that’s all that matters

    • @CMOSX
      @CMOSX  2 года назад

      What wheel did you end up with?

    • @davekarr7151
      @davekarr7151 2 года назад

      @@CMOSX I don’t recall but it looked almost identical to the wheel that you just used. I had no problem using the horn ring that came with the kit. I just remember that the wheel was pretty fit to hold onto and that’s what I didn’t like about it but it’s a great looking wheel. I went with that because it was a whole lot cheaper than an original reproduction wheel and I was only putting the car together to sell it

    Does anyone know what the “thing” with the two wires is called? My wire are cut and have a power draw from there.

    • @CMOSX
      @CMOSX  2 года назад

      That’s one of the contact plates. The power comes from the turn signal assembly in the column. The assembly has two posts on springs that are always powered and the grant has two plates. The first rests on the two posts to supply power and the second plate rest on top to ground it when pressed down by the horn button.

      You can get a new adapter kit from the link I provide in the description of the video. The link will work with 67-68 mustangs but if you call the manufacturer they will help you identify the adapter you need. They have great customer service.
