- Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts Review of sandbox naval battle bliss. A deep level of customisation in the ship creator, combined with a challenging Naval Academy campaign and plenty of variety for custom battles, Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts brings a tonne to the naval battle simulation genre.
Unfortunately the only thing holding this game back is a solid TBS campaign to compliment this RTS delight. The battles and ship creation are extensive and play well, however the campaign is still a little too simplistic for my liking. Currently limited to two factions (the united Kingdom and Germany) on a small scale map with few genuine choices to make, the basics are there, but in its current state of early access it is not enough to keep me occupied for long.
Despite the limited single player campaign, I can say that the naval academy campaign is a proper challenge and serious fun to play through, even if I have learnt to hate Torpedo boats with a burning passion that I never knew could exist for ships.

Yeah the game as it stands now it is just a AWSOME shipbuilder, the Academy is a nice introduction, and the campaign GROUNDWORK is their but thats about it. That said in time im POSITIVE it will be a grate game, would be nice if they went back to age of sail and added some of that ai stuff.
Exactly. In time I’m sure this will develop into a genuinely solid game given how the team has developed the other games in the ultimate franchise, I’d actually love to see some of them inter link like with field of glory and have a mix of naval and land battles over multiple games, but I think that’s just wishful thinking.
Either way, I’ll definitely be coming back to this when all the updates are in and the games fully fleshed out.
It is a fun game from what I have played if you want some good indie games to review I’d check out nexomon extinction or vintage story if you ever need suggestions also nice video
Thanks for the suggestion, been watching a channel called argentavis for Nexomon, seems good. Not heard from vintage story will have to check it out, honestly I’m just changing jobs and between that and the games already sent to me I’m a little overwhelmed for new reviews, but maybe when The releases dry up as they say :).
